Argh. A coworker is talking about a man she is seeing and he sounds so awful. She talks about how she has firm boundaries etc, but he is already pushing (assuming she will sleepover quickly for a whole long weekend etc.) Today she mentioned she has a group of friends who are super good at looking into social media profiles etc and I said hell yeah, use it on this guy!! Why not?! And she said ohh, I'm trying not to be so negative etc etc. And another coworker backed her up with "just let it all c…

I work at a school and one of my close colleagues has found out that someone she used to work with was arrested on child pornography charges. My heart is breaking for her, she was really close to him and clearly respected him (he took over her old role when she moved schools, so she is feeling guilty too.) She is having some denial that maybe he didn't really do it etc. I'm, unfortunately, not surprised by this but I am furious and disgusted by him and have no sympathy. Eta: I also have feelings…

Hey lady, I know how you feel. You might find this poem comforting: I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost... I am helpless. It isn't my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in again. I can't believe I am in the same place. But, it isn't my fault. It still takes me a long time to get out. I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sid…

Hey ladies. Just writing to vent! I've realised this year I am fully lesbian. I craved male attention but did not feel attracted to them, like them, etc. Anyway... I have a HUGE crush on a woman I work with. It's like I'm going through puberty again. Nothing can or will happen as she is with a long-term partner, we have some incompatibilities even if she was single... I just can't help liking her and feeling attracted to her! We also would not be accepted for being gay by our workplace so she is…

Hey ladies, I've had to have a vulvar biopsy (punch biopsy). I had the procedure yesterday and it seems to be healing well. It's just a 2mm biopsy, there's been no blood or pain today. I'm so so scared for the results. They are looking for lichen sclerosus or VIN (Pre-cancerous cells). Argh. LS is a chronic lifelong condition managed with steroid cream. VIN, they chop off the area. Thank God it's not near my clitoris. I am also scared if they come back with no explanation for my symptoms. Just p…

Hey ladies. So I've been on antibiotics all week with a suspected staph infection on my labia. I went back to the GP and everything they swabbed for (STIs, shingles, staph) came back negative. I was prescribed a few topical creams and another antibiotic (if things get worse) but if nothing improves I'll have to get a biopsy. I'm so scared I'll have some rare form of cancer and have to get a type of vulvectomy :'( Just posting for support

Hey ladies. I watched the "tea" consent video with a group of friends yesterday. I've seen it before and have showed young people I work with. It is a good educational video on consent. However, my friends were laughing along (it is a humorously toned video) but this time, I couldn't laugh with them. Rapists KNOW that people don't want to "drink their tea." They KNOW unconscious people don't want to "drink tea." I understand the value of showing young people these but actual rapists...the non co…

Hi all, I don't have any kids yet but I would highly recommend the book "Protecting the Gift" by Gavin de Becker. It is the follow up to FDS recommended book "The Gift of Fear" and is geared towards mothers to help them teach their children skills to stay safe 😊

The book "Men Who Hate Women" is about how we need to take incels/redpillers/puas very seriously. I don't have time to write a huge comment but I seriously recommend it (but it is scary and upsetting)

Hey ladies. I'm so glad the weekly chat is back, I've been wanting to post an update! Well, I always thought I was bisexual but realised over the past few months I am fully gay. I was so fucked over by men my whole life that I thought my dislike of men and experiences of bad sex (unable to get wet, crying afterwards, not liking their bodies) was normal. Normal 1)because these are common experiences due to men being pathetic in bed and 2) because the relationships were so bad, I thought maybe if …

Hi there, I just wanted to validate that I am vegan and also would not date anyone who hunts. I think that would be a significant clash in values for me, and you are right that you were honouring your feelings and beliefs.

Yep you are exactly right. I really believe birds of a feather flock together and her views and priorities are so upsetting. I have stopped going to her for advice or organising plans with her. Tbh I think she is doing the same with me, she certainly thinks I am hardcore with my boundaries/standards!! Edited to add: I've definitely gone from continuously arguing to dropping the rope with her. I'm not planning on reaching out. I know that she will eventually. I am planning to move interstate in 2…

Hi ladies, reposting my comment as it was the final one on the last weekly check-in. I need some validation :(: I've been reflecting on my friendship with one of my closest friends. I'm going to have to be vague about my profession but we really bonded a few years ago based on our profession/working together. We don't work together anymore and she lives a little far away. I love her a lot (or...feel attached to her) but looking back, I bonded too closely and did not vet her (due to being thrown …

It sounds like your gut is telling you something here about the way this guy is communicating with you, and dating long-distance. If he contacts you, you could say you've been thinking about it and you don't think it will work out for you. And then of course...block and delete :) Edited to add: P.S. Sometimes we just need to type these things out in a safe space. I'm about to do the same thing in this thread right now! But we know that once we get to that point...something is up!

I have been feeling this way too re: male friends. Although, I have been dropping the rope with many of mine already. I know I'm not perfect either, but IDK I feel so uncomfortable knowing how comfortable they are using women, and I am a woman..

I'm looking into budgeting more and starting to invest for my retirement (I'm mid-20s and started working full-time recently after getting my Masters degree). Woop woop. I also had a mindset shift where previously I was upset over not being friends with this guy anymore because we had similar interests and he plays a lot of board games (which none of my friends do). I snapped out of it and thought, wait, I can just buy some fucking board games instead of mourning my bad friendship with this dude…

Yep, reading over them again and reflecting they definitely aren't. I even had gut feelings of anxiety at the time which I ignored. They are subtle in comparison to the massive ones that came later, I guess! 😂

Early red flags I left slide as I trusted this guy (and wasn't really vetting initially as we were reconnecting as friends): described himself as "hot evil businessman" asked if I would consider working in another specific field (after I mentioned how much I love my job!) mentioning how much he earns (without me even asking) mentioning he had to get over his breakup by himself (shows lack of emotional maturity/strong friendships, woe is me attitude) mentioned finding it easy to meet women but ha…

I learned to SCUBA dive this weekend! I have been wanting to do this for years, but was nervous. I really faced my fears and was nervous at times, but didn't panic! I saw a turtle and a sting ray!🥰 I also made a female friend and we are planning to be dive buddies!

A friend of mine just told me she is going on a motorcycle ride with a guy on a first date...Arghhh it's so insanely risky to do that with a guy you have just met! Even letting him drive you somewhere in a car is risky! (I'm not sure whether they are maybe going out and will each be riding...still scary!)

Hi again, thanks again for your response the other day. I wanted to update that I went to send something to him (e.g. "Thanks. I don't want to talk to you. I'm glad to know you're doing well. Take care :)")- to "put some grace around the situation" (which my therapist told me in my OTHER argument with this same guy when I blocked him). It turns out he blocked me first. I deleted the convo on messenger and deleted his number from my phone. IDK, I just need some reassurance that this is okay, I fe…

Thank you! It is definitely disappointing to realise he is a LVM. But a good reminder to not let any man, even a formerly trusted "friend," into my life without proper vetting!! She is definitely infatuated with her new man. I felt like I was on another planet that nobody challenged her - but they might have all been thinking the same thing as me without saying it I guess. I loved moving too, but am definitely looking forward to moving back when I am able (closer to family and I moved just to st…

Various rambling - just writing to get it out in a safe space - thank you ladies I posted last week that a male "friend" had hardcore argued with me about a man asking out a colleague at work. I straight up stopped talking to him, I was feeling so apathetic and upset and angry that men live on a completely different planet to us. We didn't speak for over a week and he just messaged him saying he noticed I am being quiet, he's not sure what I'm thinking, he reread our messages and said he shouldn…

Argh. Just posting to vent so I can calm down because I'm at work all worked up. A contractor asked out my co-worker a few weeks ago, she was uncomfortable and gave a soft no. I told a male friend/acquaintance about this and he was all x "awww poor guy." I said no, it's at work, and she was not interested, just showing bare minimum politeness and now she has to be uncomfortable whenever he comes in. He said I was overinflating someone being asked out on a date. I shouldn't have but I sent paragr…

An FDS-leaning success story from my family: my aunt and uncle! This has been told to me via other family members and I find it so sweet. My aunt was engaged to a man who left her close to the wedding date - he left her for another woman, got her pregnant, left her, and has done the same thing several times apparently. My aunt was devastated. When she started to date again, she went on LOTS of first dates and was quick to end it with men she was not sure about. Apparently a lot of people in the …

Lol. Just updating on my posts on last week's check-in. I reread the Handbook in between this past and my recent post. I still couldn't bring myself to straight up delete/block him though due to our history. Anyway, of course he reaches out and asks why we are still friends on facebook if we aren't talking. I'm like, ok, and delete him. He freaks out and starts calling me and texting me. Says he now wants "a companion and serious relationship." Then lays on the guilt-trip that I am "discarding h…

The falling-out was initiated by me, it's a whole mess tbh. I was really close with his girlfriend throughout uni but it was not a good friendship for me so when I cut her out and moved away I stopped talking to him too, basically ghosted them both. Big surprise he reached out when single 🤡 Looking back on our conversations the past few weeks he was definitely stroking his ego. Like. I told him I liked him and he later said he "wasn't disappointed to hear that" 🤡🤡 and kept asking me whether I mi…

Thanks so much for your reply. I really needed to hear all of it. I'm really disappointed with myself for being so upset over this. I think I always idealised him in my head as an actual genuine nice guy so it is really hurting me that he would lead me on like this. And you're right I'm not in a good place, it's hard because I've wanted to move back to the city I'm from since the start of the year so IDK I guess I haven't been engaging with hobbies etc well (because of covid as well). I muted hi…

Hey ladies, I just need some emotional support. Sorry in advance as this will be a long comment. I haven't dated for the last few years due to working on my career, having a history of bad relationships, etc. It has been really good because I have been able to reflect on my patterns. I am not planning to date anyone (even casually as I am interested in a serious relationship) as I am planning to move at the end of the year and I don't want any ties to my current location. Anyway long story short…
