No I mean like it's overwhelmingly creepy grown men that will follow a high school girls instagram

Men are not the problem as a whole but there is a sizeable minority that ruins it for literally everybody.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 02:45 PM

Men are raised believing women should serve them This hasn't been true for a long time. Culturally the zeitgeist is that women rule the roost and get their way. The "yes, dear" bumbling husband is such an ingrained trope at this point.

This is how I look at it. I don't expect to meet a woman at my local Warhammer store or something. But I probably will meet someone whose sister is single and looking for a guy or something.

while women are 100% expected to give a lot more during child rearing, I also think the problem gets amplified in the US because the expectations on child rearing have never been higher. Compared to other western countries, american parents are killing themselves with the effort put into parenting nowadays. IMO its one of the least talked about things here with huge implications. Europeans raise kids from a goal of fostering independence, while americans tend to foster dependence. And as the chi…

id have to guess that some things are simply more important than others. If partner A (man or woman) is good with money and has been the agreed upon budget master, then any situation that partner B is the obvious choice for decision maker still has to answer to the money situation. I also think that it's very rare for both partners to have complimentary strengths that are perfectly equal.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/26 04:12 PM

I mean, I think both partners should look up / admire one another. why be with someone that doesn't have positive traits that you want?

What will be enough to make me think like 50% of the population are actually giant assholes instead of just you? Realistically nothing, because the premise is so deep and stupid I have to gag and admit maybe the red pillars are right when they say "solipsism"

Peak schizo posting. 7/10, we'll done. "My periods hurt, so men are advantaged" Pretty sure my grandfather felt more lain than you when he died in France in WW2.

Totally. My ex wife was better at me at a lot of stuff I liked. I had a Warhammer mini painting phase, and she was just always better at it than me despite not even having to really try. What drove me was crazy was the things I was clearly better than her at but she acted like she knew what to do better than me.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/26 09:24 PM

Child being your priority doesn't mean that you have to stop caring about your wive/husband. I know that to well, I made the mistake of priorizing my child too much and I neglected my wife. We end up getting divorced. Did I made a mistake? absolutely. Did she also make a mistake by refusing to communicate with me that she was feeling neglected? absolutely. Its much better to think of it as the child is joining the family than as the parents now subservient to the whims of the child.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/26 09:01 PM

Honestly you shouldn't prioritize your child over your partner. This is a very american attitude to have and pretty much every study shows it leads to worse results for parents and kids.

100%. My ex wife used to have Sundays booked solid for cleaning. Didn't matter if we even used some rooms, had to scrub the whole room down. Magic Midwest cleaning said it best: you shouldn't be deep cleaning regularly if you do a little bit here and there.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/26 04:10 PM

If you needbto hours of chores a day, that says more about your ability to create mess than it does about how much cleaning should actually be necessary.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/26 04:08 PM

would guess that, but the time resentment has built up, there is a pretty decent understanding of what the "base for cleaning" is. No, its almost always partner 1 saying "this is how it is" and not moving an inch.

Having to tell another grown adult what needs to be done is exhausting on its own. Usually because a lot of the things that need to be done actually don't need to be done. While men should generally do more, people should generally do less. And this seems to backed up by the latest surveys in divisions of household labor.

You could argue bits easier for men because most men do not take decent xarebof themselves as they age. It's not that as a 40 year old you could look 25, its that's as a 40 year who has been exfoliating and using reint9l or something you could look 37 as opposed to looking 50

An older person is, on average, more likely than a younger person to have more money, to have an established career, to have a professional network, to own assets, and to have knowledge about how systems, processes, and institutions work. literally none of that stuff matters for average people. My career as a mechanical engineer means absolutely nothing to someone who isn't a mechanical engineer, my 401k doesn't buy me the protection of police, and I don't know what "systems, processes, and inst…

Age gaps can have a power imbalance that favours the younger person I would really like someone to explain to my why an age gap is consider a power imbalance in and of itself. I'm almost 40. I have literally 0 power over the average 25 year old. Hell I have 0 power over the average 15 year old. the issue of intoxication is also complicating. If a women is beyond a certain level of drunkeness to where she can't consent, what if the man is drunker?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/25 05:13 PM

What's the problem with living with sandwiches? What you're doing is taking an ideal, abstract notion of what an adult "should" do and projecting it onto everyone. Problem is, you can just roll this out to where there are infinite tasks and chores to do. Being an adult means prioritizing the things that matter to you.

And the reality is that women these days are still expected to work and do the majority of household labour The reality is that the amount of household labor you "need" to do is almost entirely up to you. IME my ex wife did the majority of the household labor because she was a neurotic lunatic for whom the household labor could never end. I swear every study on it shows that no matter how much work men do, women still do more, because the amount men do doesn't change how much women do. If the wo…

On PPD, we're always hearing about women staying with “chads” who do absolutely nothing for them. In the real world, I encounter tons of men who are with women who do absolutely nothing for them. It's not really a gender thing. A shifty partner will just take and take.

that's just regular day to day planning. Emotional labor wasn't really meant to describe things in a relationship, the word got hijacked and thrown around all over the place. It was originally coined to term a kind of work (as in, a paid job) that requires unseen effort. Like a waitress/waiter needs to be courteous and polite and sociable even if they're having an absolutely terrible day. Everyone knows that a coal miner breaks his back all day and is exhausted from physical labor, emotional lab…

this is overwhelmingly where the emotional labor nonsense comes from: partner tries to micromanage their partner, gets mad that partner needs to be micromanaged. sigma males are hilarious to me, because they clearly buy into the alpha/beta dichotomy, and then realize that they aren't actually alphas by their own definition. So instead of saying that whole thing is stupid, they come up with a new way of describing how beta they are that sounds cooler. in my mid to late 30s, a lot of people are back on the market as marriages are starting to fail. Of my 5 closest married friends, 2 are already divorced, 1 is on his way to divorce in a few years.

Recently divorced at 37. I am doing significantly better than I was in my mid 20s with a few caveats: I've aged very well physically and mentally. Most men don't do this. Most men don't have a skin care routine, they don't know how to dress well, ect. The demographic I'm into is women of my age +/- a few years. What if I don't want the labor done? That seems to be the missing piece here: women do things that men don't care about and then get mad that the men don't care about it. My ex-wife used to insist on vacuuming the whole house once a month. It used to be every week, which is fair. But I bought a Roomba that does 90-95% as good a job and takes 2 minutes to start and then empty. To me, that's fine. I don't really care about the extra 10-5%. Only she did.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/07/25 04:46 PM

You can certainly finish your daily chores, but there’s always deep cleaning, household repairs, food prep, errands, and family management to be done. This sounds like you're running head first into chores and other obligations that you don't need to do. Anytime someone talks about "deep cleaning" I'm immediately skeptical
/r/PurplePillDebate15/07/25 04:41 PM

Seriously. I got mad at .y ex-wife because she could never turn off her chore list and actually spend time with me. The Dadvocate summed it up really well: it's your household, you can manage it however you want. If you can't be intimate until the dishwasher is loaded, that's a you problem. There's so much "this has to get done!" and it really actually doesn't.

You get into an elevator with a coworker on Monday. You ask him if he had a good weekend. He literally just ignores you and starts scrolling on his phone. The elevator is now awkward. You can't just "not try" in social settings without being socially awkward because not trying is socially awkward.

Nah, recently single after being in a 8 year relationship. Way easier in my late 30s than it was in my late 20s with a few caveats: I've aged well, physically, emotionally, and financially I'm mainly interested in women in their late 30s and not in their mid 20s I'm less interested in a relationship so I find dating in general much less stressful.

It's way more than that. Maturity, wisdom, life experience, self-confidence, etc. These are very attractive traits! this is one of those "must be this tall to ride" sort of things. Those things are attractive, but if the baseline attractiveness isn't there, then it doesn't matter. A young, ugly woman can have these traits, but it doesn't really matter because she's still ugly.

Nobody is going to say or think they divorced because they were bored. It's the truth, but zero people will ever, ever cop to that. they do all the time. the amount of relationships ending around me that are overwhelmingly caused by a breakdown in intimacy and a "roommate situation" is very high, and they're valid reasons to end a relationship. if your partner just woke up one day and said "I already got 'em, I can phone this shit in now" you can bet your ass you'd be packing your bags as well.

All posts like this feel like attack on a women and like men are offended that they have to do something to date or have sex. I kind of view this as an attack on men, which is justified IMO. I'd say the root cause is the hypersexualized culture we have now. Being thirsty extends beyond dating apps. It's the millions of guys that are subbing to onlyfans or amplifying "influencers" whose only marketable trait is being attractive.

that makes more sense, I can agree with that. When I ex and I were looking at buying a home, we had completely different standards of what we wanted. Not at odds, per se, but different. People try to use boundaries as a way to control other people, but you fundamentally can't control other people. All you can do is control yourself, and communicate clearly what you will do in various circumstances. 100000000% this. A boundary isn't something you set on another person, it's something you set on yourself. You can't stop your partner from doing X, Y, or Z. BUT you can refuse to engage with them while they're doing it. "my partner can't use porn" isn't a boundary, because they have…

So you fundamentally want your partner to be different than the partner you have. Then you get mad that he is who is and not the idealized version of himself you have in your head. Honestly sounds like a you problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/25 06:11 PM

can we apply this to sex as well? I have never been in a healthy relationship where one partner uses the "it matters to me so it should matter to you." that's like textbook manipulation.

if the mental load of women is burdened with utterly inconsequential crap like dead vs fresh flowers, then that 100% sounds like an OCD issue. the amount of things that need to be remembered to keep a household running is actually very, very small. The amount of things that don't actually matter but one partner things they do is incredibly high.

What if what she wants is a partner that gets to know here and what she likes, and wants to make her happy by doing unsolicited nice things for her? then she should expect what she gives out tbh. If one partner is always giving and the other isn't, that's a problem. If no partner is giving and one is made they aren't receiving, that's not a relationship problem, that's a personality disorder.

I only ever complained about my wife's cleaning when she was doing something that didn't really need to be done. Cleaning was either a weird ritual or something that she did to avoid something else. Im a big believer in spot cleaning to avoid big cleans that are annoying. An example is I have a dish sponge with dawn and vinegar in the shower, and while I leave my shampoo or conditioner in, I just wipe down a wall and rinse it when I'm done. The shower can go a long time between formal cleans thi…

The only thing I would nitpick about this post is this part: There are hobby and meetup groups- however these tend to be attended by older people or else people are already coupled. The ones which are specially targeted at younger people do seem to be more promising… but these are intermittently scheduled and not abundant- and many are overcrowded with men looking for women. I went to one last week and it was like this. Hobby classes like cooking lessons are mainly attended by married people, in…

I honestly think this is just a result of no risk/low reward incentives being chosen over low risk/high reward incentives. I agree. There's an economy to relationships. They don't have to be equal in terms of what they bring but they should be equal in terms of what the partner wants or needs. I'm a relatively high earning man, I don't need or even want a high earning woman. I want a woman who will help me manage my home because I just don't have the bandwidth sometimes.

I think women are attracted to ambitious men with passions and goals and follow through to make them happen. That doesn't mean you have money. There are a lot of starving artists who have no problem with women, but those traits are more often than not correlated to having some financial stability.

When it comes to genuine attraction, women don't give a shit about money. while women don't give a shit about money, all things being equal, they do generally gravitate towards traits that correlate with making money. An unemployed guy who plays video games all day and smokes weed all night is unattractive because he has no ambition or goals. Without ambition, goals, follow through, ect, you aren't going to make a lot of money.

Payouts don't work, but what works is free daycare, improved infrastructure and support for parents, parental leave reforms. This is a very empirical question. free daycare Google tells me Denmark, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden lead the world on public spending on childcare. fertility rates: Denmark at 1.55, Iceland at 1.59, Norway at 1.41, Sweden at 1.52. Free daycare, free medical expenses, free classes for new moms, other support? How entitled, your baby is not my problem. Lots of countries do this and they have even worse fertility than America, and in America it's the richer people having fewer kids, not poor people. I said this elsewhere, but in the 21st century, the opportunity cost of having kids is absolutely brutal.

Then why not say “Make sure you have time for romance” instead of pitting a child against a lover? because prioritizing your relationship goes far beyond just romance. Think about it like this: a child joins a family, but it doesn't define the family., and the family doesn't revolve around the child. Thinking that is a very American thing. Basically whatever the couple was doing before the kid, they should be shooting to do like 51% of the time after the kid. It can very easily be argued that th…

My mindset is that my kids are a priority, and it's my obligation to take care of them and make sure they have everything they need. nobody interprets this as letting your kids starve on a diet of gruel while you and your partner go to a steakhouse. It's based on 2 main ideas: the first is that loving your child is largely unconditional for most people. Loving your partner isn't. I need to choose to love my wife, so a conscious effort is needed to avoid the default of just the kid. The second is…

Nobody needs nor will get unconditional love. So if a man in a relationship loses his job, decides he'd rather be a kept man and just play video games and smoking pot all day his wife is just supposed to keep on loving him as he slides into loserdom? That's ridiculous.

more people = more laundry yes, but I generally find that adding more people doesn't have a huge impact on laundry or cooking. Adding more food is marginal. Bacon and eggs or spaghetti and meatballs for 3 doesn't really take longer than for 2. Same for laundry. It's more clothes to fold, but lets not pretend that 99% of the work is done by pressing start on a washer and a dryer.

No, the number stays almost the same with children. Are there more things that need to be tidied up with kids? Yes. Should you expect your home to look the same as someone without kids? No. We also manage by not allowing out daughter to accumulate junk. She has more toys than she needs, so some go into a tote in the basement, and she can change them out once a week or so, but she usually forgets she has a reserve unless we remind her. However, the majority of men are still not contributing equally in the home or with child rearing. I'm always skeptical of this claim. A good 50% of the things to do around the house exist because of choices my wife made. Realistically, you can keep a 1500 square foot house clean and tidy with like maybe 4 hours a week of work if they're smart about it.

I've always suspected that the declining fertility rates weren't because kids are more expensive, but because they represent a huge opportunity cost for people that do have options. Don't get me wrong, I love my daughter, but I also know that the door to, say, live in Sicily for months at a time while working remote permanently closed once she came along. The thing is that living in Sicily while working remote was a complete fantasy even 15 years ago. Now it's a very real possibility.

extraversion, neuroticism, openness, conscientiousness, and agreeableness I can't help but think these are all somewhat related. Someone with high neuroticism also likely lacks confidence, and is therefore low extraversion and low openness. This doesn’t negate the argument that no other animal’s genes have some kind of interest to not want to replicate If an animal can't have sex without replication then this is a baseless assumption. Also, lots of stuff other animals do humans just don't. We don't have an instinctive urge to migrate south during the winter, we don't eat our partners after sex, and we don't abandon a child because someone else touched them.

I think there are serious desensitization issues and that porn is so abundant and accessible to young people is where the problem really lies.
