If the single mom is smart and wise, they will keep everyone happy for the stability and sustainability of her new household. Sadly most of them listens to their friends and lawyers , or maybe they are just not clever enough. Where I’m from the child support was calculated base on your pre tax income. But the payment is of course made from your salary after tax. Not much left after child support payment. It’s easier for females to be portrayed as the poor suffering single mom than for males not to be portrayed as the wife bashing jerk. I think these interactions are beyond dealing with lawyers and exs. The bias from social workers, child abuse agencies, child support officers are there.
