This has happened a few times when I was younger. I think a woman having sex with a man and not wanting a relationship is incomprehensible to a certain kind of young man. They didn't always want a relationship, but they were possessive and jealous regardless. Now, men become clingy before I actually hook up with them, which is even weirder, because it kills their chances. These are men approaching me, presumably for NSA sex. But maybe sometimes some men feel like that but are just afraid to admi…

Hook ups run on risk assessment as much as attraction. If someone has an obvious emotional need from me beyond a hook up, it's an automatic no. Boyfriends - Most of them wouldn't have been fine with NSA sex. They clearly would have given indicators that they weren't being Chill about casual sex, even if they'd said they only wanted NSA in your hypothetical scenario. So no. There's no universe in which they could pull off a one night stand. Girlfriends - maybe 50% could manage an NSA situation

It sounds like you personally have some impulse control issues that you are attributing to testosterone.

There is likely a decent percentage of your friends that you hope would turn romantic. Especially since you're bisexual. I'm also bisexual. I do not want to date the majority of my friends. I've never been so preoccupied by the idea of a hypothetical romantic relationship that it's kept me from having meaningful friendships with people I am attracted to.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/25 09:11 AM

The guy would frequently touch me, ask about my sex life, and kept inviting me to his home after work a lot. He also multiple times tried to get me drunk, and kept whining to me about how he hadn't been getting laid in X amount of years I think you assessed the situation correctly, but he probably did not want to date and had a negative overreaction when you asked him out. (Guy sounds like a complete creep, to be honest, you dodged a bullet.)
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/25 11:04 PM

Can you IMAGINE being asked to platonically bird watch?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/25 11:00 PM

I've had men act in kind, friendly, or attention seeking ways towards me, but they never made their intentions known and I've never confirmed if they were attracted to me. (Most of these men were married. Believe me, I didn't want to know.)

You don't think mental health is relevant to heterosexual dating dynamics?

If men's experience with modern dating is genuinely making them mentally ill, they have deeper problems than not having sex.

This is really the kind of post that should be flagged for misinformation, it's ridiculous to make the users "debate" this take that's been debunked forever.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/25 03:10 AM

Very true. (I don't believe people can be wholly unfixable, but they definitely need a lot of help.) We can't necessarily give them medical interventions, but we could at least put some guard rails up to keep them from falling further into the internet abyss. Maybe we could use a sticky or regular reminders for "basic internet safety" guidelines. Also something to help with identifying misinformation and conspiracies in the first place.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/25 06:51 PM

Can we get some kind of "person is obviously delusional, spreading misinformation, or having paranoid fantasies" rules? Like maybe some kind of PPD mental health support message like "reddit cares" messages while we're at it. There's obviously a lot that's subjective here, but we have outright conspiracy theorists. If PPD really cares about male mental health, we need to stop enabling their downward spirals into algorithmic extremism. If the ethical, benign angle doesn't work, let's just say: al…

Care for children is a legal and ethical obligation of people who decide to have children. Parental responsibility is not really "gendered", child neglect is just illegal. I am unfamiliar with this phenomena of women demanding to kill their children. Family annihilation generally makes the news, are you referring to the bathtub killer? You seem unwilling to discuss your lived experiences with gender norms, besides having children, so I won't continue to badger you for more grounded, specific exa…

Can you give me a specific example? For instance, at my first job, I realized the customers were nicer to me whenever I put on make-up. My friend basically flirted with the customers and got lots of tips. (See: nurturing and caring.) I had trouble doing so because I was more reserved and not naturally nurturing. This gender role was enforced by tips, and my boss liking my friend better for bringing in more customers.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/25 02:48 PM
1

Tell me more about your experience with gender norms. I haven't seen a lot of men saying they grew up without gender roles enforced at all. I had a somewhat atypical upbringing and a lot of gender roles didn't really click until I was older. Understanding these roles other people expected allowed me to succeed more, perhaps. But for me, these gender roles are an abstract rulebook to consult, not something that comes naturally.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/25 02:41 PM

How do these norms show up in your life? Do other people enforce these norms? Do you enforce these norms?

Is birth control allowed in this country? You're making the argument, you look up the statistics. Why would you want a high fertility rate solely for the sake of a high fertility rate? If raw meat to throw into the factory/war machine is all you're looking for, you should come to America and watch poor men impregnate their poor wives, and said wives pop out children they cannot afford or meaningfully take care of. A lot of ND women face constant rejection as children. (Great incentive to mask.) ND men also face this rejection, but are given less tools to mask and cope. We can safely blame the parents and the teachers, here. Perhaps ND men don't have an emotional outlet until they start to date and discover the manosphere. Anger at women is generally accepted by NT men, anger at NT men is not. In places like PPD, all of ND men's frustration with NT society gets placed onto women generally. ND men, having t…

In the US, I think it's the lack of affordable housing, safe women's health care and maternity leave. Also, probably half the states will either let you bleed to death if you miscarry, or arrest you if you miscarry and live.

For example, there maybe someone for everybody but a man cannot wait, as the burden of performance is on him. Furthermore the idea of not approaching whenever a man feels like it, is counterintuitive for the man's success. This is creating an imaginary emergency for young men that demands they listen to red pill logic. If young men go to college/organizations, have hobbies, put a reasonable amount of effort into their appearance, and treat women like regular people, they'll be fine. The real "em…

This is very naive. As the support net of welfare, Medicare/medicaid, education, and food stamps continues to wither away in the United States, the chances of your offspring living to adulthood is also withering. The woman might not even make it. If you're knocking up women in states without abortion, there's a chance both the mother and the child will die. As long as there's an app promising men relationships they can't all have, this will hurt men's mental health. The pain and resentment will also go towards the women instead of the app or broader social structures like the men profiting off of male loneliness.

You could make the same argument about literally any vice, but we regulate those.

I'm really just trying to get the men away from political disenfranchisement, which does negatively impact women, and scam artists that offer "solutions" to improve their dating app odds. Women do seem equally as scammable but I am not being subjected to mainstream news media coverage of the women's influencer crisis every week.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/25 01:48 PM

I'm trying to prevent the radicalization of men from the constant "rejection" they're receiving from the apps. These men are app users who do not know how to properly use it. They are entering a 80% men casino in the hopes of finding emotional validation, love, or sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/25 01:20 PM

I'm a woman. It is society's job to regulate vice. Are you okay with cigarette warnings? A reasonable society should also discourage widespread disenfranchisement and the scam artists that profit from this.

You know how evangelicals make their followers harass people on the street, so they get rejected by everyone, which makes them distrustful of everyone who isn't an evangelical? That's what cold approaching is.

This idea of a woman having ravenous desire for a random man off the street is the male equivalent of a 6'10 billionaire falling in immediately love with a completely average woman off of the street.

/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/25 07:22 AM

We wouldn't even need the apps if there were more non-alcohol things to do, local clubs to join, or affordable college so that more men could meet more women. The government should invest in small businesses, education, and public spaces, if they're serious about the male loneliness crisis.

Dating apps change how society works in general; they dramatically effect how replaceable men themselves feel I don't think these apps are going away. There's no way these are actually getting banned, however. That's why we should regulate them, put warning labels on them, possibly change the algorithm, and offer mental health assistance to the men who lose themselves in the endless possibilities. They also change how men see and behave towards women, knowing how much accessible competition ther…

/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/25 04:16 AM

If you are trying to make an for human autonomy, please rephrase your post into something like, "men who want to date women should support pro-social movements, such as strengthened reproductive rights, paid maternal leave, better public transportation, cheap education which will provide a place to meet women..." There's people on here who would happily take away all of women's rights in the thin hope of domestic incarceration. Don't offer it up as a solution!

It's like, a slot machine for men at this point. Didn't we ban loot boxes for children? It's kind of like that.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/25 03:41 AM

While you are obviously a misogynist, I do think dating apps are terrible for everyone, especially women, because the apps are a gambling mechanism for men with a terrible payout. (And women are blamed, somehow, for the dating casino app that men built and paid for...) Whale men are trying to score the "jackpot" and it's like children with loot boxes. They're also facing constant rejection, which further radicalizes them, and they lack the insight to blame the dating app as opposed to women. So …

This guy has terrible reasoning with an obvious misogynistic angle, but he's not entirely wrong. Apps are bad for everyone, not just the men. It's like Russian roulette for women. The amount of safety vetting you're obligated to do just for a single first date is absurd. Risk assessment is not something I enjoy, I refuse to practice it in my free time.
