The interesting thing is that this seems to be the unanimous consensus among anyone, male or female, who's ever had a job that involved cleaning bathrooms. Not once, ever, have I heard someone say the opposite, or even that they're about equal. Women's public restrooms are an absolute horror show.

I agree. I just feel that the response is out of balance with the offense in this instance. The level of outrage I see here seems better suited for a situation where a man is losing custody of his children, for instance, rather than being refused a haircut. I agree that she was wrong, and I agree that it is reflective of a societal trend toward recognizing mothers as being more "legitimate" parents than men. Yeah, I think it's a very baby vs. bathwater kind of thing. but when a woman gets raped, "maybe she shouldn't have dressed like a slut" gets said a few times. But honestly, I don't know that I've ever actually heard this. I've heard it brought up plenty often, as in, "when a woman gets raped, people say this," but I've never actually heard them say it. Maybe I'm just hanging around the wrong people.

To be fair, the "rapist cause rape" message is one I absolutely agree with. Yes, but pushing that as your entire answer to the sociological problem of rape is absolutely insane. They shut down anyone who tries to actually examine the true causes of rape, and God help you if they even sense that you might say anything about how women can protect themselves, because that's "blaming the victim."
