I used to think I was into bdsm. I thought I was into being a “sub”. During that time I had also been in toxic abusive relationships and I had very little love for myself. Through learning to love myself and leveling up my life...I realized I wasn’t into bdsm at all and became absolutely disgusted by men who wanted to HURT me. My current partner does not watch porn. We have very loving sex, and I have come to realize that MOST men and women absolutely do NOT know what real and true intimacy is. …

I was definitely starting to believe this as well. That all men watched porn and liked other women’s social media posts/pictures. I was beginning to think that I was insecure, or the jealous type for feeling deeply disrespected by this behavior. My current bf....does not watch porn! Nor does he like other women’s posts or photos or follow Instagram models. The man barely even uses his social media, only started using it again to make posts about me/us. Thanks to FDS I vetted the fuck out of my d…

She says “men haven’t changed” but they HAVE changed. Men wants us to be their mothers and basically act like women did in the 50s (cleaning, cooking, taking care of the children, being meek, etc). But the funny thing is, MOST men nowadays don’t know how to properly take care of a lawn, don’t know how to build something with their hands, don’t want to take us out on fancy dates and be gentlemen on them, don’t know how to take of finances and don’t know how to get a career that you can advance in…

Thank you, I’m so glad as well. I’m very lucky to have found FDS when I did, before I ended up married to a LV man...

My LV ex did this. He’d known I had been raped before, then one night when I was passed out from drinking I woke up to him assaulting me. He got very defensive when I became upset and I stayed with him. After finding this sub, I broke up with him two days later and basically fled while he cried, threw things and yelled at me. So, sending her a link to this sub could help. The women on here gave me the strength to stand up for myself and to never accept ANY sort of manipulation or mistreatment. I…

Girl I am so glad I found this sub too. It helps me to stay firm in my expectations and to take absolutely no shit. I am done letting insecure men lead me to believe that I am crazy or insecure.

Sounds like you’re doing SO well! These kinds of relationships will inevitably hold us back from being our best selves, I will make sure my next relationship is an equal partnership of love. Not a constant one-sided struggle. Though with my new found self worth, it will be hard for me to find a relationship now lol but I don’t mind, I am doing just fine on my own.

Exactly. That’s so true. Definitely keeping that in mind 🤦‍♀️

Jesus fuck no I didn’t not see that. I can’t imagine sitting through even a few moments of that convo....that’s disgusting and scary.

This genuinely hurt me to read. It is just so true. Men can be so cruel, quick to call a woman “crazy” when she is in a stressful position or feeling warranted anxiety over something.

Ugh I’m sorry. He lied just to get you back obviously. What a dirt bag. Glad you left!

I definitely had a “savior” mentality where I always tried to fix broken people. I’m actually making a career out of it, but I will never try to “save” a man ever again relationship-wise. It should be an equal partnership not an uphill battle...

“He’s such a good bf and so loving he’s just great but he plays cod for hours on end and he likes every single one of his ex posts.” Are you fucking KIDDING ME?

It’s genuinely scary. In most of these situations the correct answer is to RUN. Communicate? Really? Why even listen to an explanation? Oh yeah I was a disrespectful asshole to you because....and the girl says oh yeah okay I UnDerStAnD EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW!!!!

Oh jeez I will probably check that one out now. I am genuinely horrified for these women and what they are willing to put up with. Why the fuck is communication necessary in MOST of these scenarios???

Yes you are totally right. I just couldn’t handle the fact that he tried to make it seem like it was her fault. She is such a strong woman and I couldn’t believe someone would make her feel otherwise. I never would have usually done this, the gaslighting just made me so unbelievably angry.

It’s obvious with everything else I know that another woman came back into his life, and this is the way he treats her. Good riddance.

I know, I completely understand that. I was just so angry. She’s honestly incredible and he was her first bf after being single for four years after her divorce from my dad. I know he won’t learn a single thing, and I’m not going to do this with every man my mom dates lol I was just so angry.

Short and to the point, thank you for these. I have been easily woo’d too many times and my last bf had a few of these qualities that I didn’t even realize would be an issue until soon after I’d already moved in. As someone who eats very well and exercises regularly, I didn’t understand that it’d be an issue to be with someone who doesn’t, until later on. All of these resonated with me though. I also let things move too quickly fairly often. Won’t be doing that again.

If I meet a man in his mid/late 20s who still skateboards I’ll be worried.

I do hope he gets the help he needs and sobers up completely. He was trying to, but like you said the baggage and the behaviors made him a rotten partner as well. I will never put myself in that position again. Funny thing about it too, is that I am 24 and he is 36. I was woo’d by how funny he was, empathetic, romantic. I came to learn he was drunk for all of that... I don’t know what I was thinking. But I’m glad I have learned these lessons now and will be a stronger woman for it.

Ha the finding threesomes desirable is so true. You can’t satisfy me, but you think you could satisfy two at once? Lol ok porn sick.

Oh yes...kinda of like when they tell a story and they are always either the hero of such story or the victim.

If you don’t mind, could you expand on this a little bit for me? I’ve always thought I was the “jealous type” but now I’m thinking it was just disrespectful, LVM who made me feel like I was such.

Thank you! The unpopular opinion you said will now be a dealbreaker for me as well. The man I just left was an alcoholic, recovering but not so much. I will never date an addict of any kind ever again, it’s not up to me to deal with such issues or save anyone from anything. It’s totally okay to not want to date someone with any kind of addiction IMO.

You’re spot on, thank you. Being alone is definitely better than that, this morning being alone was really settling in and your comment helped to remind me exactly why I left. I am so sick of insecure men making me feel like my expectations are too high.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
