Yes in every way. One of the things I learned about myself the last 5 years was what I wanted and needed from the person I am with. I realized my ex didn't meet any of them and people can't change that much. Divorced her in May and met someone while hiking in June that met all my requirements and more. Wasn't looking for anyone, in fact didn't want to date, we were both taking a break at the same point and started talking. Our values, needs, wants and desires lined up, could not be happier.

I'm in the same situation. 31 years, just filed, couldn't take it anymore. We tried counseling a few times over the past 5 years. She would never open up. Was always fine with our relationship because it benefits her financially and only had to work part time. Never wanted to put that money in with mine it was hers. We were amicable when I filled but now she is realizing her posh life is getting upturned and not happy. Lots of resentment coming out. So be prepared if you decide to go the divorce…

Lucky you. At 10 years we had a kid because that was going to fix our issues. Then another 2 years later (accident). Love my kids but this isn't fun and looking at it never was. They are in their 20s so at least I don't have to deal with that. Just all the crap we accumulated and don't need.

I ignored it or didn't want to deal with it. My therapist tracked the issues back to the first year's of marriage. Took me 30 years to finally realize I deserve better and to be happy. Such a waste of my life. Almost there another month and should be done.

This is the same experience I am having right now. She is angry she will have to figure out how to take care of herself. A response I hear is not sure why you didn't divorce years ago

I just told my wife of 31 years I am done. Similar, she needs help. As much as I have tried to get her to see a therapist she always said she was fine. My thera9told me the same as another post, I can't go to therapy for both of us and she needs to be accountable for her mental well-being. She did go a few years ago for 2 sessions and stopped as she didn't need it. We have tried couples therapy as well, nothing changed and everyone was picking on her, she said. After I told her I wanted a divorc…

Similar situation. I just used our last session to tell my wife. Thought it went well and the therapist was great assisting me. Then got home and the next couple days were a Rollercoaster of emotions from her being ok to why am I doing this to her. Either way it wasn't ideal

Currently in the same boat. 54yo male, 31y marriage. Got to the point a few weeks ago, and came to the realization I want to be happy and am tired of arguing. I'm not who I was when I was 23, I know what I want and need now. She isn't providing it and I don't expect her to change to fit them. Nor is she willing. Yes we started couples therapy yesterday, I'll give it a couple months, but right now I struggle to see how it will work out and don't want to be here a year from now doing the same thin…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
