Yep that’s my take from it as well. I don’t think there’s a lot of substance to be found here, but to me it seems that a lot of people here would likely find a lot in common with radical feminists if not for the fact that they don’t give a shit about women. I’m not exactly aligned with radfems but their critique of liberal feminism is based. Especially the stuff about the porn industry and sex work.

Absolutely this! It’s so rare for a guy to pay attention to what their girl finds attractive and make an effort to look good for her. While women are constantly told to style ourselves in ways that men find attractive. It’s not even about having a 6 pack or a perfectly symmetrical face, it’s just showing that they care about how they present themselves to us. I told my (now ex) boyfriend once that I liked him with a bit of facial hair, and he started putting more effort into grooming it for me. …

I understand, but I think rather than malicious intent, it’s an issue of them thinking too “logically” rather than feeling things out. I tend to date smart techy guys so this is an issue I’ve struggled with in other areas of relationships lol. Now, I’ve realized emotional intelligence is very important to me.

Thank you for sharing your story! I agree with a lot of what you’ve said, and I’ve always been very critical of bdsm (99% of the scene are creeps). I do believe that there is a correlation between kink and low self esteem, and I’ve tried to be conscious of that. There’s also a lot of overlap with nerdy smart tech guys, which I kind of tend to go for anyway lol. As I said earlier, I’ve used it as a way to discuss sex early on and seek compatibility, but I’m now looking for other ways to do that w…

You hit the nail on the head with the first paragraph. I don’t think it’s done maliciously, but definitely something I’ll need to consider. Thank you, your comment was reassuring.

Yes!! This is exactly my experience. I had one partner that was great but had to break it off due to distance. Wish it wasn’t so rare to find these unicorn men

I definitely have been turned on by men in the past. But it’s in the start of a relationship. By the middle, I start getting bored and feel like my needs are just not being fulfilled lol.

I noticed this sub criticizes bdsm, I get it, the scene is filled with weirdos and creeps. But I don’t know where else to find guys who are introspective, self aware, perceptive, etc. Another comment mentioned finding a good way to vet partners, kink negotiation has basically been my way of doing that thus far.

This is a wonderful analogy. Thank you.

Could be selfishness, but in a much less obvious way. Because on the surface, I’ve had loving, reciprocative partners who seem to genuinely want to please me in bed. They do all the right things, but the seduction is not there. That’s why I sometimes feel like it could be my fault for being complicated.

Man, I wish that he could teach a class to all the other guys lol

It’s a bit of a difficult situation, because I’m referring to long term relationships in which I’ve always felt completely respected and desired. Otherwise healthy relationships, with partners who are definitely “giver” types. But still, they just don’t have the skills. They don’t know how to seduce a woman, touch me in the right ways unless I spell it out. It’s really frustrating.

And yeah I don’t do casual sex, ever. These are all relationships.

Not slept with, but I’m interested in bdsm and have met some friends through that. He himself is on the asexual spectrum so that’s why he brought it up.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
