This violates the dvpo. Say no. Confiscate the phone. Power it off. Faraday it. Store it in an unused cooler.

If you have no income, you go to court to modify alimony or start collecting it

Initially she was asking for 40% of my paycheck, including any extra shifts I may pick up at work, and asking for that for the next 20 years, along with half of my retirement, and splitting bills 50/50 while we are living together. She is utterly deluded. https://calculators.law/calculators/maintenance/kentucky says 38.4786 percent to her, for 171 months (14.25 years). I’d press to get that down 30 percent for 6 years, and modify after she gets her LCSW

My thoughts if I were to do this, would be to remove my name from the deed but leave it on the mortgage for a yr, with language written in, for how and when the agreement would end How will you enforce that? What will you do when she misses payments? My attorney says to make a clean cut Listen you your lawyer. Force a sale. If she wants the house badly enough she will find a way to get a loan

What is a small fraction? It gets easier as you get closer to the end of the alimony term. Depends on how much the alimony is, how many years you have left to pay,

This is a contentious divorce and you need your lawyer to help you get a fair deal on alimony

But telling a man not to open his own bank accounts as he gears up for a divorce? Prove that I told him to not open his own bank account.

After she files for divorce, you must disclose all assets and liabilities it is not a good idea to open new financial accounts, and it might not be permitted Open the account as a convenience, but if you have visions of hiding assets, put them to bed

Our prenup has assets titled individually as immune from community property, with exception of contributions to retirement accounts made during the marriage. The ceiling on alimony is set to what she would get from SSA at age 62, and alimony stops when she is age 62 or earlier if that is what the state calculator says. Being retired and married for under 10 years so far, I doubt she gets much alimony if at all, if we divorced. I am not a dividend investor nor am I drawing social security. It is …

Yes No divorce so far. My prenup lawyer said there is a high chance our prenup will hold up because our agreement does not leave her with zero assets or zero alimony.

The longer you wait, the more likely one spouse pays the other alimony. the longer one spouse pays the other alimony the more likely you will pay child support for another man’s kid

https://www.modernfamilylaw.com/calculators/spousal-maintenance-calculator/california/ estimates with a 7 year marriage, the higher earner pays the lower earner alimony for 42 months.

In mediation you should assign a value to her defined benefit pension. If she retired today, what would her pension pay out be per year? Then divide that by 0.04 to assign a valuation.

I still feel guilty for even considering allowing the divorce to happen. Afaik, you don’t have a choice, assuming she is functional enough engage with a lawyer, and the lawyer does not fire her for being mentally incompetent

That is 183 in freedom measures. I am 6-1 and would love to be 183. I would not beat yourself up too badly yet.

(a). Inevitably, your ex is going to cheat on this guy and/or he is going to cheap on her. You don’t need to be part of that drama. If their relationship lasts long enough, eventually you will have to meet him. Be polite and nothing more or and nothing less.

Colorado divorcee here. Sounds like she has tremendous debt accumulated during the marriage. Assets - liabilities equals a lower net worth. Hence she takes most of the assets in order to equalize the networths. What you want to do is get a sunset on the alimony. Finally, she has been an anchor slowing you down financially. Once you are rid of her, you will be able to get ahead for once. Better days are ahead.

She will need go to divorce court to modify her spousal support. I don’t see an argument for modifying child support. Was your spousal support agreement before January 1, 2019?

Initially she said I'd have to look for somewhere to go eventually, but now I'm told that I have to be out by the end of the month. Told by whom? Stay in your house. If she changed her mind, I'd take her back in a heartbeat. Bad move. Get a lawyer
