You say "all men" because a talking head on tv made a moronic comment, and the other moronic talking heads didn't push back? Have you considered not listening to what the idiots on tv say? It is literally their job to make you angry

Everyone just talks past each other on this sub. What is the point, is it just for venting?

I'm not saying that it should be, I'm just responding to op who said that women spend a lot of money to look better.

We could name different expectations on men and women all day and get nowhere. My point is that both men an women are expected to behave and look a certain way in order to be considered attractive. And neither men or women like being told that they have to change who they are in order to be loved. I hope that answers the question in the title of your post.

So why aren't women happier about the fact that they can improve themselves to be more likeable to men?

Yes, but many people operate that way. Women are expected to appeal to the male gaze, just as men are expected to appeal to the female gaze, which is what op is describing

Neither is better or worse. They are the same. And they are both unfair. But that is the world we live in

How does the following statement make you feel? "Women don't deserve love unless they spend a significant portion of their time, energy, and money changing who they are in order to appeal to the male gaze"
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/26 08:48 PM

Can we call it "men are magnificent" for the sake of alliteration?

Then go be poly or stay single. What are you telling us for? If that's what you believe then live it
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/25 07:09 PM

Stay single. Last time I lowered my standards I wasted a year of my life in a relationship with an abusive woman

Do you really believe every struggle men have is because they're horny? That doesn't sound right. Why does men being horny mean they commit suicide more than women? Why does it make them do worse at school?

That history is interesting, I didn't know that. If complaining to the government is not viable because the government is feminist or non-government feminists will push back, what do you think is a realistic way to cause the changes in society you want to see? Any group that tries to change society will have pushback from opposition. Feminism had a lot of resistance but they got the right to vote and work and bank accounts etc. Why do you think MRAs have been unable to pull this off?

This is the type of rhetoric that makes people distrust men's advocates. This implication that men are, by use of force and violence, take from women (rights, resources, etc) and give to men. Why not organize a protest? Why not run for government? Why not call your representative? That would be too much work of course. Much easier to just complain on the internet and threaten a violent uprising if you don't get your way.

Call me a misandrist all you want, you're just falling into the very same thing that MRAs claim to hate coming from feminists: calling any argument that criticises their movement misogyny

If the feminists are as bad as you claim for attacking the MRA movement, why do you want to roll around in the mud with them and attack feminism back? Like I said just ignore them. Complain to the government, that's where the real power lies. Not on reddit, not on tiktok, not on youtube. In real life. No, I don't know as much about MRA history as you do. I'd imagine the antifeminist sentiment from MRAs came from a mixture of legitimate grievances about things like dv shelters for men being shut …

If there's ever going to be a movement that advocates successfully for men in good faith it needs to do a couple of things different from MRAs. It as to just ignore feminists and feminism. Pretend they don't exist. When feminism is attacked, feminists (rightly) defend their movement. So don't attack feminists. Also don't act like they're going to solve any problems men have. It's a movement for women, they advocate for women, and that's ok, but don't expect them to do anything for men. It's not …

Well my comment included the two qualifiers that those movements need to be both of consequence and advocating in good faith. The MRA is neither of those things

Exactly! There is no social/political movement of consequence that advocates for men in good faith. That's why we have to be independent/self sufficient

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
