Heh, sorry for my late reply! Yeah, I figured as much, transgenderism is really a novel thing right now as far as foundational scientific literature goes. All I can say about that is, boy, I sure hope T increases sex drive! Although I heard it's actually a secondary effect-- the main causes are confidence and energy levels being boosted, therefore sex drive. Either way, it would be good news for me personally. ;) Thanks for having such a great conversation with me. Hope you have a good one mate!

Oh man, I'm sorry you were actually responding to the verse. That's just a reference to the show Steven Universe, and I just felt like it was a fun personal thing to end on. I just figured it would go over your head and you wouldn't take it seriously. I don't actually mean that I think you're attacking me or that I'm better than you etc, it's just from a fight song during a confrontation moment in the show. I can see you're a more reasonable person than I took you for. My apologies. Shows me not…

Out of respect for the concept of assuming good faith, I'll take that at face value. But I don't need your luck. Go ahead and try to hit me if you're able. Can't you see that my relationship is stable? I can see you hate the way we intermingle, but I think you're just mad 'cause you're single. And you're not gonna stop what we've made together. We are gonna stay like this forever. If you break us apart, we'll just come back newer. And I'll always be twice the man that you are. We are made of lov…

"Everyone's equal, but some are more equal than others." You're not even trying. I think I will go home and get drunk. That's a fair suggestion. It'll be a lot more rewarding and purposeful than talking to you.

Oh, I see. The idea was to find out what the supposed weak point was in my personal relationship, and then to use it as a shakey ground for ignoring my point. We're engaged, mate. We were going to get married last year, but we're going around for another 365 because we are goofy and feel the need to pick a very specific date to make it official. How much luck do you think I need. We have vowed to commit our lives to eachother, and I have not a single drop of doubt in my soul that it'll not only …

I'm taking your inablity to actually participate in a discussion as a sign you are informally conceeding. My stance, inequality is shit, has been declared the winner, and we can all finally go home and wash ourselves of weakly-justified inhumanity.

I've never heard of a real person, who is not a character in a tv show or a strawman from an article, actually corroberrate this claim. Even if the majority of women really did feel this way, it's still not about the "sexual market" or other rp core aspects, when they chose to make themselves look like something they figure is sexually appealing. I'll say this again here as elsewhere: Everything I've heard from actual women is along the lines of "I dress well because I want to feel like I look g…

Cute. Didn't respond to my question but instead posted an article insisting that feminist movement is anarchy. I don't know if you understand this or not, but temporary and limited chaos and anarchy is the arms and legs of a revolution. To get back to the point: Forced equality is better than established inequality because inequality is shit and doesn't deserve to be establish in the first place. But hey, that's just like, my opinion, man. I ask again. What is the purpose of a revolution?

I don't care about how you feel about society at large; if you're going to follow just one rule to keep your emotional well-being up and to not be a dick, it's this: Provide for yourself as much as you can, except in cases where it stops someone else from providing for themselves. If this was the only rule societies ever followed, we could still manage it without being horrible to eachother. Also, mate, you're in society. You're actively participating in it. And while you live in society, you pl…

I don't see how it matters, but since I'm volunteering life information for science a lot recently, go ahead and ask me anything you're curious about. We've been together for about eight years. We started as friends, and we are now engaged.

That's not legalese, ya lazy goon. That's called making an effort to be actually saying something that's actually correct. And on an off-shoot, making "office chairs for women because they tend to be shorter" is a completely unfounded marketing idea in the first place: Most office chairs have height adjustments. I think at one point someone said something like "RP can use AWALT because marketing does". Well, marketing is shit. I don't think anybody thinks it isn't. I don't know if you can believ…

I certainly didn't have to wait long. I didn't even fucking try to use a MethodTM or anything. I didn't play into any alpha/beta/gamma/delta shit. I didn't neg or orbit or buy into concepts of the "sexual market" or any of that shit. I literally met the woman of my dreams while just being a normal-ass human fucking being. Just saying.

Sorry mate but sexism isn't a natural part of human beings. It is a complex societal pattern based in ignorance and laziness, which, granted, are natural parts of human beings. But so are critical thinking and empathy.

And you're ignoring what's in yours. Yes people have weird instincts and capabilities. But we also have the capacity to understand when following those bits are wrong and harmful. That is also part of our natural selves: self-evalutation, empathy, teamwork, restraint, critical thinking, contextualization, abstract thought, hope and wonder and faith and happiness. THAT is part of our animal selves. THAT is natural. THAT is what you're shitting all over.

"It's not about exploiting" doesn't matter when it literally includes and vouches for exploitation. If someone is calling you out for being sexist or misogynist, maybe you should sit down and have a look at why they could possibly be saying that. Those aren't insults buddy, those are people calling BS on BS. "The feminist machine" is made of real live, breathing and thinking human beings, male and female alike, who all share the common goal of improving life for everybody. Ignoring all that, put…

Obviously it's subjective. Don't make me explain why. And for the record, out of all the stories I've heard, you are the first person to assert that sexual skill is irrelevant in bed when "hotness" is a factor. I also fail to see how you are not objectifying someone, when literally their actions and personality are irrelevant to you, and their appearance and presence are the only qualities you value for the situation. An object ahs appearance and presense, but not action or personality. I'm sorr…

Unless she's asexual. Or in a committed monogamous relationship. Or not into the sex scene that night. Or doesn't like the selection. It's really simple: Clubs are fun to dance in and hang out at with your friends. Some people use them that way exclusively. It's not a small percentage. Not to mention the fact that not everybody even wants sex to begin with, for a variety of reasons, no matter where they are or what they wear.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/15 12:17 PM

They WERE staying on topic, you champion of reading comprehension. Re: "Dressing appropriately for a club != desiring sexual attention." Etc. Dressing "skimpy" has nothing to do with a person's current desire for sex. It is literally just a fashion subcategory. It's for fun. I'm sure people who want to get laid will probably dress accordingly, but that does NOT mean there are not other reasons. Some people enjoy the asthetic. Some people hold that dressing sexy boots confidence and therefore des…

It's my metaphorical coin, I can stamp whatever I want on it. :P Let me help you quote that article. Another possible theory would be that women suppress each other’s sexuality so as to influence the sexual marketplace generally and thus avoid having to engage in sex themselves. In that context, women might be tempted to think that if they band together and all refuse sex, [etc.] Yes. Clearly this is happening. As you can tell by all the women talking to eachother about not having sex on purpose…

On the topic of "intersex" term usage, that makes a lot of sense given the context. Thanks for the insight! On Gender Roles relating to Sex, it is a very interesting and complex issue, because while your point about there being sex-based natural behavioural differences is true, it's pretty much noticed by averaging the overarching sex groups as a whole, not so much by comparing individuals. There's so much cultural context involved it's insane. Gender role is definitely the more ephemeral of the…

I will certainly agree that slutshaming isn't in people's best interest at large. However, I find it myopic and foolhardy that people are still trying to strawman to the point of believing in actual pedestrian conspiracy. And I completely disagree that slutshaming has any basis on gender as to who it nessisarily applies to and who nessisarily applies it. Sluts are not a female-exclusive category, and slutshaming is not a female-exclusive activity. This is a population-wide shitstorm of people (m…

Don't really see how this will help anything, but for the sake of science I shall answer. As I was born with XX chromosomes, and have a female-style setup, I consider myself female rather than male, in the same way one would classify an animal, or electrical cord, ect: by "function". However, I don't think it's gramatically correct to say "a female" or "a male", since for our purposes they are adjectives, not nouns. I absolutely believe I am a man. I certainly don't believe I am a woman. I have …

Well I understand that this is a pretty meta topic but this is all getting a little too back-feedy for me. I understand hyperbole but not at 6am. Thanks for trying to explain but I'm spent. I don't even know why bp and pp exist, to be honest. I just came here looking to balanced gender discussion, but I'm not finding anything of the sort. Well if people don't mean penis envy why can't they just say that. Men's roles have nothing to do with schlongs 99% of the time. Call me old fashioned, but when I hear "penis" I assume we're discussing trouser snakes. Thanks for the heads-up. Well, in the metephorical case, of fucking course it's not a thing. That's one of the most made-up things I've even heard of. Also, it sounds a bit ham-handed and strawmannish. I've literally never heard o someone taking those stances as a feminist or other…

ACTUALLY THAT RAISES A GOOD POINT Say goodbye to people not having STDS. In fact, say goodbye to the immune system in general. And probably about 1/3 of all of humanity, seeing how plague numbers generally play out. You may create a superhuman race here, but not for the reasons you imagined. Disease would have a damn field day with this scenario. Also I'm alarmed and disappointed that you really seem to be behind this idea actually working. .... No. ... .... No they're not. I'm kind of flabbergasted here. I didn't expect to be encountering this kind of thing so frequently from people I can only assume to be educated adults. All genetic traits are inherent and immutable. When a child is born, there are born with mutations, and those mutations that do not stop the person from procreating will be passed on, to kids who will inheret those mutations and also and carry their own. This is how evolution works. Mutant_Squirrel is right, you…

And yet the entirety of TRP was founded on the principal of playing into that "ploy". Har har. Slut shaming happens to everyone, from everyone, in varying gender ratios, because of self-perpetuating societal themes-- your elders slut-shame, so you do, so your juniors do. It pretty much is religious anyhow. Didn't christianity start that whole "don't bonk til yer hitched" type thing? Those bastards! (hehe, do you get it?) Assuming this is all done on a voluntary basis, and disregarding the idea that male-on-female gangbanging somehow isn't already the norm, as it were, in whatever hentai manga we're framing this scenario in... "Sperm Slurry" as a method of breeding healthy humans is completely, completely flawed, on a fundamental, scientific, practical, and logical basis. Frankly it's kindergarten level logic, assuming you went to a hyper-progressive kindergarten. Fact of the matter is that the more sperm is shar…

Don't worry I feel you. I was just trying to say that some people don't give a whiff about society and only have body-related issues. I agree that it probably isn't usually the case, but it happens, as is the scenario I believe ianturpiesmoustache was trying to describe. People can have gender dysphoria about different things, yay diversity

Granted! We have been graced with the presence of someone who has personal experience on the issue, (not being sarcastic, I'm actually pleasantly surprised), and I think this calls for, at the very least, a quick pop over to wikipedia. Here's where I'll be quoting from. So, I definitely believe that you have had those experiences, and I'm not surprised, but if you'll take a look at the context you gave, I think it'll support my point. Yes, that's what I was trying to say: predisposition for what your gender will be is biological. We completely agree on that point. Also, I'm not going to pretend I'm proud of this, but I haven't taken a single gender or psychology related class. I can assure you that everything I purport to know has come from personal research prompted by personal interest in the topics at hand (or my own experiences, with my own gender and with other people's stories). So, it's literally impossible for my soci…

Yeah at first it seemed oxymoronic to me too. But when you realise that, regardless of LGBT or sexism discussions, child psychology has found that a person's sense of gender is solidified at about age 5-- not from birth, not never, but specifically at a very young developmental period, it becomes clear: A person is born with a brain suited to one thing or the other, then it grabs context and situates itself within the genders presented to it by society. Pretty simple actually. And remember that …

I fail to see how my answer after testing your theory would be somehow more relevant to you than people who have already been through it. If I inject testosterone, you would still be speculating off of other's experiences, even if I did my best to relate everything to you. I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time taking your demands seriously. You're saying that what you say is true without proof, but what I say isn't true without proof? It's both in general, but it can be one or the other depending on the person. "Body-based" and "social-based" gender dysphoria are both symptoms of transgenderism, and can present together or seperately. When talking about what transgender people want, it's better to ask one than try to talk for the group.

Before I knew I was transgender, I had a really weird moment when someone said something about women "having penis envy". I got so riled up by that, one half of me was thinking "that's complete bs" and the other half thinking "but I do though". Now I know why. Confirmed, some men have penis envy, including transmen. Haha. I don't think it's healthy, but I'd be lying if I said it never happens. However, lesbians, feminists, or other women you don't agree with? Nah. Penis envy doesn't apply there.…

I want to thank you first for shedding some light on the issue from a scientific standpoint. I appreciate it and it's pretty fascinating to be honest. (Are you allowed to call people intersex in your class? I believe that's the current term for someone with ambiguous genitalia and/or chromosomal disorders.) There is a problem here, and that is the conflation of "personal gender identity" and "cultural gender roles" as the same thing, and to accept or dismiss their status as "biological" or "soci…

Sorry but we already know the answer to this. Testosterone does not lead to aggression or risk-taking behaviour. Teens (and menstruating women, and roid-raging bodybuilders, ect...) go through these phases because of a change in hormone level, not because of the characteristics of one sex hormone or another. It should be easy to look up the transition diary of a transgender person to see what changes they experience and report over longer timeframes. I don't see why you're sure gender roles aren…

That simply isn't the case. I don't know where you got that figure from, but even just talking about modern, "first world "societies, gender roles are pretty drastically different from region to region. There ARE biological tags in male/female bodies that influence some behaviour patterns to the point where it has influenced culture, but this is not as homogenous and widespread as you might think. The biological behaviours themselves are actually WAAAYYYY less populous or prominant than we usual…

It would be a lot cleaner and simpler if that was the case, but nature rarely ever is. For clarity this is what seems to be agreed upon: Sex is chromosomal and based mostly in private parts. Gender (Identity) is instictual feelings of one's self. Gender Role is one's place in society, relating to sex and gender. As I see it, for some trans people, most of the issue comes from the body, as in "my sex and gender identity are not aligned and it is causing me stress", and for some it is more like "m…

Would that I agreed... There's a couple things I'd like to mention about this post. When discussing transgenderism and its origin, it's very important to consider the difference between a transwoman, and a guy who likes feminine things. If I could wear the clothes I wanted to wear and still present as male, I'd do it. But as it stands, I go out of my way to wear things I don't care for in order to "pass". I haven't met many trans people for whom this wasn't the case. Most "overcompensate" in var…

It seems to me that the truth lies somewhere in the middle of the nature and nurture spectrum. As a transman interested in psychology with years and years of google research under my belt, I can assert with confidence that literally this is what it is. I was, myself, VERY interested in the topic even from well before I realised what my gender was supposed to even friggin' be, and continue to follow the science as it is introduced. So naturally, even though I am Living Proof, the idea that gender…
