To be good Dad to my son, I would include all those things, but exclude the violence one. The rest are admirable traits. courage, independence, violence,[5] and assertiveness. I read further down, and it's not often I disagree with a Wiki article, but it also says Homophobia is a masculine trait. This sounds 'cooked' to me. Here's the thing. I believe the 1 in 52 number. What is the best way to change people's minds? If you believe in the 1 in 5 number, you have some very authoritative company. The president and vice president repeat these numbers. What the Men's Rights movement needs is a reasoned, effective campaign to turn this around. The argument that works for one, may not work for another. I have no answers, just some thoughts.

As I said earlier, professional athletes and entertainers should be compensated for how much revenue they bring in. Whether that's seat sales, beer sales, pickup trucks, whatever. (It's easy to miss a point, we all do it). So if the women's team does generate 4X less revenue than the men's team, then it would be fair they are compensated at 4X less.

Contract duration can be good or bad for either party. All I have to go on is the budgeted numbers for the upcoming year. I have read arguments where men are worth more than women because they work harder, and contribute more to a companies bottom line. I agree with that line of reasoning. Only this time, the gender roles are reversed.

The women play more games, and total revenue is higher for the women's teams. I think they have a case. One thing not factored in which should be considered are costs for both teams. Revenue is one thing, but when it comes down to it, profit is what matters.

The statement in the article clearly says the women's team generating nearly $20 million more revenue last year than the U.S. men's team. This statement does not speak to percentage increases. That will likely be part of the suit. I have to admit, this is the first time I've heard that argument. Men work harder and are therefore worth more in pro sports. Professional sports isn't remunerated based on effort, it's based on results. BTW, I don't think the women are asking the men's salaries be dropped. They just want fair compensation for their results. Just like other sports where the men bring in much more revenue than their female counterparts, and are compensated accordingly.

If you want to highlight the entry that shows revenue by team I'll take a look at it. I'm not going through a dozen financial statements. According to the story in this thread, the women's team generates substantially more revenue than the men's team. If that is indeed correct, then I believe they should not be making 4X less than the men's team. This works in reverse for many other sports and is considered fair.

Professional athletes and other entertainers aren't paid because they're talented. They're paid because they generate revenue. Atheists don't hate religion. They hate what some people do in the name of religion. As an example, I have never been wronged or infringed on by someone from the Buddhist faith. Evangelicals and Catholics, among other religious groups, want to restrict my rights on a daily basis. It is this hubris of some religious people that live by the motto, "I know what's best for me, oh and by the way I know what's best for you too"

Atheists hate that people of religion continuously attempt to control the lives of those who don't share their belief. Women's right to choose, access to contraception, gay marriage, the list is endless. That is what galls atheists.

Correct. But the point of my post was a fetus without the right to life doesn't mean it has no rights. The right to life is not necessarily the ultimate right.

Canadian here. I am a staunch supporter of choice and abortion. I also believe a fetus isn't a person and as such doesn't have the same rights as a viable (independent) human being. But this is not a normal situation. Just because the fetus doesn't have the right to life, it can still have other rights. I believe the fetus has the right to not be tortured, and it could be argued the mother's actions are the equivalent of physical and mental abuse.

As I mentioned earlier, the enlightenment can come from other groups that aren't at the core of the debate, but have input and make decisions based on their perception of it. Like University administrations that shut down an MRA group because of feminist protests. The recipient of the argument should be the administration, not the feminists. This is what I mean by a PR campaign.

We both agree free speech is the agent of change. IF MRA's want to win this debate, it's not the feminists that need to be enlightened, it's the university administration and others that might side with the restrictionist feminists.

I think we mostly agree. The MRA's need to do the PR work to convince the Uni's to act. Stifling free speech is almost never the answer. I say almost because I am against hate speech, or speech inciting violence against others.

Punished seems like a harsh term that would evoke an equivalent response and have both groups not listening to each other. I'm not saying you're wrong, but maybe better PR might also work. I have seen anti-free speech at our local Uni and I find it disturbing. Just as disturbing is others don't seem to care. One of the jobs of MRA's, in my opinion, it to get others to care.

"You guys" ? I see a mix of comments - not a single theme. But I do believe the rule of empathy is important here. I have watched many people being against gay marriage until one of their loved ones comes out as gay. She shouldn't be pilloried for her position but others should use this as an example of how important true empathy is. So in the end we agree (how awesome is that!).

Agreed. But the same burden of proof must be used to establish the false accusation as was used to establish the innocence (not guilty) of the accused originally. Merely finding the man not guilty of rape is not enough to establish a false accusation.

If people knew how not to be dicks, laws like this wouldn't be necessary. When the girl sent the picture, she wasn't sending it to the entire world. I think this law is a great idea. People need to understand the methods of harassment have changed due to technology.
