I’ve addressed this already. When something involves exposure to anything that can be sexual (see us Olympic women’s gymnastics doctor), there will be sickos who exploit it for their own disgusting perverted reasons. That does not invalidate the profession or act, nor does it mean that it is sexualized for anyone other than those sickos.

You are correct I am pushing my religion on my children. Just like religion is highly controversial, morals are also highly controversial and relative. I am from a Muslim majority country in Africa and many people in my country would find the moral code your parents pushed on you to be harmful, dangerous and downright wrong. Muslims do have the right to do it to their children and they do so, the kinds of fgm that don’t leave scar tissue or other harmful consequences is fine in my moral code.

He didn’t realize you are correct, there is no correct and incorrect- there is just agreeing or disagreeing. I know people have a hard time realizing that morals are neither universal nor are they cut and dry, but the superiority of your phrasing irks me. And that’s absolutely your prerogative. Just out of curiosity, your SO, are they ethnically or religiously Jewish? Judaism is an ethno religion so you can be ethnically Jewish and not religious (although the opposite doesn’t really work I suppose).

Interesting point of view. The ama supports circumcision done by hospitals on all babies, how does that make you feel? In fact they say that the benefits outweigh the risks when done properly. So they delineate between good and bad circumcision. I don’t think that you have the relevant knowledge to say that they shouldn’t do so.

I am truly sorry that you feel this way. I respect your pov and don’t know how to manage the fact that if it was done later (for me) then it wouldn’t be halachic, but you also didn’t have agency and aren’t happy with it. You know that in the US it’s the norm for non Jews as well and performed by hospitals, correct?

I’d prefer it now. I wouldn’t want it done now. I’m also Jewish, I don’t care if others don’t want it they don’t need to but for myself and my family it is part of our religion. Unlike fgm which is dangerous, circumcision is not dangerous, just provides no benefits medically speaking. Desensitization hasn’t proven to be a danger.
