Abstinence in it's strictest definition means "the practice of not doing or having something that is wanted or enjoyable." This could mean sex, drugs(liquor is a drug if you didnt know) and in my reference fatty, unhealthy foods. If one wants to quit unhealthy food cold turkey go ahead, but eating it in moderation occasionally takes a lot more will power i.e. discipline. This is my opinion and from the comments I've seen of people who had <10% bf naturally. It's not worth it.

Congrats bro, I'm trying to cut down as well. Started at 27%, now at 19%. I think you should reconsider going down to 8%. Even if you achieve it maintaining 8% is depressing. 10-12% is easier to maintain and you dont have to completely give up unhealthy food. Discipline > abstinence imo.
