Calm down. Maybe it is an age thing. Me nor my friends had ever chat or organised anything that require a phone number. The closest thing is snap. You get weird looks if you ask anyone for their phone number. (I'm 20 from UK)

Isn't asking for phone number a bit odd? I don't I know anyone who uses phone numbers to keep in touch beside with their bank or something. If you want to seem like you are close with them from the beginning definitely ask for social media.
