I couldn’t agree more - and by being true to yourself, and pursuing a life that is meaningful to you, you become far more open to meaningful and productive relationships with those around you. You’re far more likely to find someone who is compatible with you, compared to if you put on a fake version of yourself.

It should be equal - if either partner is significantly more invested than the other then it’s worth having at least a conversation about it, more than anything so that you can taper or better understand each other expectations. Investment on that level should happen later in the relationship once you have got to know each other well - if it is happening early on, it is a sign of unhealthy and unrealistic expectations that neither can expect to live up to.

It sounds like you care too much and are placing the people your friends from home date on pedestals. Learn to enjoy meeting people and getting to know them on dates, not meeting some imaginary quota of attractiveness

Others have advised on meeting more women and so forth, so I won’t repeat that here. It’s also important that you spend some time to genuinely come to terms with your feelings for this girl. Burying them and repressing them is only going to make it more difficult. I’d instead recommend sitting with these feelings, maybe through meditation, just to allow yourself time to reflect on how you’d like to go forward in your relationship with this girl and others. It sounds like you’ve already started t…

Don’t listen to everything OP says. It’s not a case of ‘on to the next one’, that mentality is objectifying and demeaning. You were with them for 18 years, you’re going to need some time to process the change and not jump straight into dating. Get to know people for the sake of getting to know people, then if you meet someone you see potential with, be straightforward and see how it goes.

Responding ‘yes, you’ is an unnecessary and cringey way to escalate the situation further. You handled it well - though I’d have just said something like ‘oh we’re just chatting, what’s your name?’ You don’t need to go around creating further conflict when someone is looking out for their friend.

You’re over reacting - you’re allowed your boundaries as much as she is allowed hers, she’s not leading you on - she’s been very clear with where she stands on intimacy, you should respect it.

This would probably make me lose interest, there’s nowt wrong with my Willy but I’d feel objectified by being asked - like I’m being asked to qualify/prove myself

She’s married, there’s nothing wrong with her finding you attractive despite her being married - people don’t stop noticing attractive people when they’re in a relationship, but if it’s a healthy (monogamous) relationship they don’t keep pursuing others they find attractive. Sure the staring is inappropriate, but take the explicit ‘No’ you’ve been given at face value and leave her be.
/r/seduction21/01/22 03:38 PM

I’d put it a little differently to ‘lower your standards’ and say instead, adjust or widen your standards for what you find attractive. Like if you connect with someone, it’s going to happen regardless of how physically attractive you or they are - like I’ve been on dates with people who I found hot, but then talking to them was like pulling out teeth, not their fault mind, I think we just had little in common and it’s hard to be attracted to someone when you can’t really engage with them on tha…

Being kind and good aren’t a turn off but you’re thinking about them in the wrong way. Being kind and good is the baseline bare minimum you should be in a relationship with anyone (any kind of relationship). You need to have more substance, or else develop your kindness into a kind of charisma. Like I also get called kind and nice by dates, but it’s never as a negative thing. People want their partner to be considerate, but being kind is different to being passive or being a pushover - make sure…

I’d say let it go, dating doesn’t need to be this complicated where you’re second guessing all of their intentions

This sounds like it came out of some rubbish self-improvement book or something. I’m not saying be available to someone’s every beck and call - just if you commit to something try not to flake, that parts pretty straightforward. That being said, there seems to be a bit of a dissonance with the idea that you need to be social and outgoing to attract people, but not come across as too available. That means fill your time with productive/fulfilling activities (or rest when you need it), not make up…
/r/seduction29/12/21 05:14 PM

What? 😂😂 being available doesn’t make you unattractive - if anything being reliable is appreciated, you’re suggesting a very silly form of manipulation here and it’s only going to waste your time and theirs. Avoid flaking where you can, but don’t be afraid to if you have to. But trust me when I say, if you flake to try to get someone to value your time more, they are not going to pick up on all the ‘subtle nuances’ you’re giving off - they’re going to feel as though you wasted their time.

One of my go to options is a pub quiz, I don’t mind not drinking but having something to do is quite a good way to take the edge off. Like unless you already know them relatively well, I think personally a meal out is a bit too intimate - that’s just a personal opinion though like others may feel differently. I get a little self conscious that I’m being gross whilst eating… A walk could be good like there are some popular woods near me with a coffee place at the end. Really, anything that makes …

I’d suggest something a like more relaxed for a first date like drinks - dinner can be a little intense with a stranger. I think you handled this well, anymore there’s no harm in turning a blind eye if you are getting on well - unless you meet them, it’s never going to impact your life. You could arrange something else as a one off - girls who show interest back to rearrange are definitely more fun to go on dates with, but you might find that girls not arranging dates on apps is very much the no…

I disagree, if someone’s happy in a relationship they’re content to stay where they are. I think there’s a heavy assumption in this sub that the ideal partner is someone who is intensely physically attractive when there are so many other aspects to consider. Like I find my gf attractive physically, emotionally, and in terms of her personality. I’m not looking to ‘branch upward’ and I’m as certain as I can be that neither is she. I realise you said ‘a lot’ not ‘all’ but even then, I don’t think t…

Not wanting to be with someone who is promiscuous is fine. You can have your preferences. Calling them the towns bicycle and acting like there is something wrong with them for being promiscuous is not fine - let’s not pretend this attitude comes from anywhere other than a persons misogynistic insecurities.

Aye tbf I think I missed that last night as I was a little tired and Christmas drunk. It does show a bit of a lack of tact and maturity on her part and I’d suggest bringing it up with her if it makes you uncomfortable - that level of detail isn’t fair on you and only serves to feed insecurity rather than strengthen a relationship ship. Like it doesn’t have to be entirely negative - some people use comments like this to protect themselves from harm - it’s like saying ‘if you hurt me or this goes …

Does the sub take any stance on misogyny? For example, recent posts about guys struggling to come to terms with a partner having had more sexual partners than them - the comments have been filled with derogatory attitudes toward such partners, rather than actually constructive advice.

I’ll laugh about anything and everything, especially if I feel like it would diffuse some tension. Why is everyone here so uptight, I thought this community would thrive on attitudes of sex positivity.

What the fuck kind of incel bullshit is this. People are allowed to enjoy their experiences and look back on them fondly. Being promiscuous doesn’t make you any less of a person.

Don’t be afraid to take a little while to come to terms with this. Yes it is a mark of insecurity and jealousy if you’re uncomfortable with it - but that’s not abnormal, we are conditioned to think and feel a certain way and it’s normal to dislike the idea of someone you like having slept with other people. Be careful to take some of the misogynistic comments here with a whole handful of salt as well. This is not on her - sex is fun, let’s not let people demonise that. One thing I would suggest …

I’ve never had any complaints from people I’ve slept with, but with my friends - they’re my friends, I don’t see them as sexual and I’m a pretty unthreatening dude, I think they’d struggle to see me in a sexual way too. Your friends don’t need to be sexually attracted to you - it sounds like your friend is confusing her lack of attraction toward you and applying it to other women.

This is excellently put. I’m comfortable with the way I look, I don’t think I look particularly attractive and notice more physically attractive friends getting attention easier than I do. But dating usually goes well for me because I’m good at holding conversations, asking the right questions and focused on having a good time more than anything. Like I’ve never been approached in public by someone hitting on me right away, but I’ve had a lot of luck from just chatting to people at parties or ou…

I agree with the essence of this but not all of the points you’re making. This sub is pretty toxic and damaging for young men in particular - there’s a distinct lack of nuance here for how to handle male-female relationships and treat women as people, rather than just sex objects. Posters being so caught up in game processes and what not can be indicative of a much more serious issue. That being said, when I go on dates I get quite nervous quite easily (more so for 3rd/4th dates), so it helps to…

I’m not the guy you’re replying to - haven’t stalked your history lol and I think you’re asking a fair question tbf, if you don’t mind me answering it from my pov. I think the ‘somehow’ is one of the easiest ways to explain how hook ups happen - but only because a lot of the time if you’re just out having a good time and not thinking about trying to hook up with someone, so when it does happen it can feel a bit spontaneous. Especially if you’re acting in a way that is just true to yourself it’s …

It helps because your attitudes and behaviours are grounded in something genuine rather than some end goal of a relationship. If you go into these things with out expectations and only an aim to have a good time, you can’t lose - like for me personally, if I’m dating someone I don’t force it toward a relationship in anyway, I’ll just get to know them and see what happens. Sometimes it leads to a relationship, other times friends, or something casual - but there’s no pressure, or sense of rejecti…

They essentially said don’t go out to pick up girls and be a creep approaching everyone. Go out to have a good time and be the kind of person others want to be around. Which I agree with, being so obsessed with picking up girls in clubs is a gross energy - just learn to be a better self and build others up 🤷🏻‍♀️
/r/seduction22/11/21 09:42 AM

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic. If you are, It’s not as simple as that, and more like ‘stop trying to pick up girls’ and ‘become someone people want to hang around with’. The kind of worthwhile people others want to spend time with are those who aren’t constantly trying pursue or date them 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m not a big fan of this sub as a whole, although it was helpful for building my confidence/social skills as a teenager, there’s a lot of advice given here that I think had a negative effect on my own ideologies and took a while to undo. That being said, your advice feels like a rare bit of genuinely good advice for this sub. Going out and having a good time, spending time with people for the sake of spending time and getting to know them, and to have a good time, is the best way to go for buil…

Not in any way. Maybe with my first girlfriend, I felt a bit self conscious, awkward, or jealous about it maybe? It was a little bit uncomfortable at first at 19, but then I grew up and high body count honestly means very little.

I don’t see an example of her trying to use her gender to get exploit something though. Seeing more and more misogynistic and incel posting on this sub and in the comments lately, I’m out.

I'd be freaked out and say no, if I'd spoken to them before maybe but 30 seconds open to close would catch me off guard too much.

From personal experience if I don't reply to someone right away it's because I feel secure enough in my relationship with them that that doesn't matter. It's not because I like them a lot or too little, it's just being more relaxed about replying for me. Of course she's possibly different, everyone usually is. But thats my 2 cents :)

No this is great :) The way I see it is that it's more down to how I feel about things rather than anything she is doing, if I can calm down a little and get my head straight, I figure I won't continue to worry about it.

Would it be wrong to say a bit of both? Yeah, classes with her as well as a lot of mutual friends. I like that question though, very thought provoking, thank you. Of course I don't doubt that I will move on and it won't concern me in the future, a long term relationship isn't what's on my mind. But currently the potential for that is still think about but would rather not.
/r/seduction28/11/14 08:33 PM

Sure yes of course. We escalated from just friends but put off anything long term happening because of being friends. Things seemed fine about a week ago but she has started to go cold on the whole thing. I'd really like to build that comfort we had as friends as she is someone I see unavoidably on a regular basis. Big lesson learnt though, don't start anything with close friends unless you are certain.
/r/seduction28/11/14 08:14 PM

That's fantastic! Right now I don't have any intention of trying to get with her, just building up that comfort with her again as friends as we see each other on a regular basis - this is unavoidable. I think your advice is brilliant though, thank you so much!

Openly defy her, quickly retort something like "I'm not your bitch", laugh, turn around and start talking to the girl you wanted. I'm not saying cause offence to her, even if you think she 'deserves it, just don't take that sort of treatment lightly.
/r/seduction11/04/14 12:08 AM

That's good, very good. How about when they ask you to do something either 'Ok, but I'm not your bitch' or 'Jesus, why do you have to be so bossy?!' Anywhere you can create dramatic irony is brilliant.
/r/seduction09/04/14 08:14 PM

If you must though, childish insults always seem to come off as a little playful and funny, simple things like 'mardy bum' or 'bossy boots', much better than just an outright offence.
/r/seduction09/04/14 07:14 PM

When making fun of people though, never outright say things like 'your so stupid' or anything like that, you can be smarter than that and far less insulting.
