This sounds like you have an issue, not him. This almost sounds like anxiety . It seems like these situations that you register as dangerous are not normal things to worry about and you might benefit from individual therapy to figure out why these things bother you. It would be much worse for both of you if he was confrontational in these situations where you aren’t in immediate danger. Being confrontational and escalating these interactions would put you in more danger, not less, because you ha…

You shouldn’t need to guard your partner. You and your partner should set boundaries yourselves and be responsible for avoiding inappropriate behaviors with others individually. If you feel the need to guard your man, there’s a problem with his behavior or maybe you have a problem with trust or insecurity. It’s not healthy to feel like your relationship is threatened by other people. If you’re both actually committed to each other , no other person is a threat.

I’d just clearly tell him it’s important to you to text Goodmorning/goodnight every day when you’re apart and that you’d appreciate if you two started doing that. If he wants to do it after you tell him, he will. If not, then he won’t and you need to decide how important it is to you. It was important to me so I told my boyfriend and asked if we could do it and he just always does it now.

I know it may come across as not assertive to you, but to me that actually comes across as trusting you, and confident in your relationship. It seems like he didn’t bother saying anything because he knew there was no threat of you leaving him for that guy and didn’t need to risk the negative reaction from the guy. If that guy didn’t act overtly enough for even you to realize he was interested, your boyfriend didn’t need to handle anything himself. But the using your personal number to contact yo…

Is it possible he might be stressed out ? You say he is a top student at a top program. So was I, and when you are already almost at your limit, it is very easy for small things to overwhelm you emotionally. I’ve also been the one taking responsibility for family members and it is very overwhelming to watch them suffer from poor choices you couldn’t prevent. If you ever get emotionally overwhelmed like that, and he is there for you, you should remember how good that feels and try to do the same …

I highly recommend telling him you are interested in him romantically. He won’t know you’re interested if you don’t tell him. Some men don’t believe someone like you could like them even if they are actually amazing. Is losing a chance with him over him not making the first move worth it to you? Isn’t it worth just trying to tell him how you feel?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
