Be a wolf but only bare your fangs if she forces you too. Don't let her catch you off guard. Get a lawyer and pay for it in a way that won't alert her. That way if she IS being honest then your lawyer can look over the papers without her knowing and you two can remain amicable. If she's setting you up for a fall then you already have a lawyer and can't be caught off guard. She's being nice right now because she wants you to hurry up and do this. She'll continue to be nice until she stops being n…

Please for your sake and that of your child, if she is pushing hard for a divorce she is likely hoping to catch you off guard and screw you over. Quietly retain a lawyer to look over any documents before you agree to or sign anything! You don't have to go to court and battle it out but the lawyer can advise you and look over any documents you may have to sign. Are you using a mediator or a do-it-yourself type divorce where you have someone draw up the papers and you sign them? Before you get to …

You might want to call the IRS as well.

You've got a family lawyer right? Sadly there are still a lot of judges on the bench that view women as the "fairer sex" and consequently it's very easy for them to get a RO. She's probably just stalling for time while simultaneously smearing your name and, if she is having an affair, trying to decide if she's better off the the AP or with you. Honestly I don't see how you could EVER go back to a woman that just made up a story to get a RO. How could you ever trust her not to call the cops and s…

I live west of the Mississippi and it is very easy for someone to get a TRO, especially of they invoke the specter of DV. Especially if you are a woman. It makes no difference if you have a clean record and have never had more than a parking ticket. There are a lot of judges who still view women as the "fairer sex" and will hand out RO's like candy apples on Halloween. The disparity in sentencing between men and women is ample proof that the courts haven't caught up with the times. I have a very…

OP didn't include the part about the RO in his initial post, probably because she hadn't hit him with it yet. I made a second post after hearing of the RO that his marriage was over and he needed to get a lawyer yesterday. I also suggested he contact everyone he knows and tell them that he asked her about a guy in a "girl's weekend" pic and she flipped out and stopped talking to him. He should also go on FB and, without using any identifiers, say something like "it's really heartbreaking to find…

Listen to this OP. Follow this advice and consult with your lawyer about getting items from the house if you can't get the RO lifted. No matter what do NOT lose your temper, record any interaction you have with her after thr RO. Your lawyer should be able to get someone to go to your house and retrieve things. If the RO is bunk and you beat it DON'T move out. Just stay in a different room and get a couple of digital cameras as well as the recorder. She has already declared war and shown she will…

Good for you. I've never hit a woman either although I have been hit by one. She is trying to control the narrative. Get in front of that now! Call anyone who will be sympathetic to you and tell them about the picture, her reaction and her filing a fake RO. Tell friends, family, everyone who will listen. Tell them she is trying to sully your name because you asked her about a mystery guy she was with. You can intimate that she is likely having an affair. Don't use names but put it on social medi…

I asked the same myself. Sadly in most places a woman can get a R.O. without having to show any real proof. She could have had one of the "girls trip" women show up and say "yes your Honor, he has a terrible temper and I saw him grab her arm once". That would be all it takes. And if that was truthful she would deserve a RO. Sadly a man, and I have known more than one, whose gf's knock the crap out of them, would have a far tougher time getting a RO. OP needs to give us some more info so he can g…

Dude thats it. Unless you aren't telling us about your aggressive nature she is planning to divorce you. I'd watch all financial accounts, get a lawyer and if you have kids you need to be extra careful. She did the restraining order for use in court, unless you're actually being abusive she is leaving a trail of crumbs. It's likely this is her affair partner in the pic. You need to get a lawyer yesterday. You can fight a restraining order. She had to give some proof to get one, even if it was ma…

You are NOT in the wrong. You know this in your gut. You asked her a simple question, and if it had a simple, believable explanation she would have said "Oh that was so and so's boyfriend, he came up for one night". But she didn't do that. Instead of just saying who the man was she blew up, started yelling. This is called deflection. She is making a huge deal about you putting some pictures on the cloud so she doesn't have to tell you who the guy really is! She is giving you the cold shoulder so…

Low sex drive is one thing but no sex for 15 years is another. That's hardly the most important part of your story, although it is important. First, you are right, she manipulated you into staying in the house with her even after wanting a divorce. I can only speculate but she likely did this so you would help care for and raise your daughter, leaving her free to cheat and party. Don't believe anything she says. This wasn't the first time she cheated. Probably not by a long shot. She has likely …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
