"Virginity" is such a shitty concept - nothing changes about a person when they have sex for the first time, and bad sexual experiences (hell, even rapes!) don't inherently leave a person irreparably damaged. That said, given how boys mature much slower than girls, when I was 19 the gap in maturity between me and 15 year-old guys was really pronounced. When we come down hard on men but not women we teach people that crime is somehow different when a woman is the one doing it. We tell boys that they aren't real victims of sexual assault, abuse and bullying while simultaneously forcing victimhood onto young girls who may not have otherwise considered themselves victims.
