Because it makes their job easier if they convince you to pay out of pocket for your treatment instead of figuring out how to bill your insurance.

Help for victims of domestic violence should be based more on who needs the help more, whether male or female, rather than who's more popular, who has more funding to lobby politicians. Simple as that.

As long as she's a good person, I love her, and she's able to handle respectful disagreements and have a reasonable discussion without resorting to strawmen or other fallacies, I'd be down. I'd use the opportunity to learn her perspective.

Recording the sexual encounter without the other party's consent is a crime in every state I'm aware of and will land you into some trouble on its own. If falsely accused of sexual assault and you live in a two party consent state, your recording will be inadmissible and you will not be able to use it in your legal defense. That said, it may be helpful for proving your innocence to family and friends for whatever that's worth. It's no use to get any recording of consent only prior to sex and sto…

Sounds like it's an issue with her own insecurity? Watch out for that, possessiveness and controlling behavior often roots from a partner's own insecurity. Even if you were to marry her and assuage her insecurity with that, her insecurity will still persist in the long haul and it may very well turn into something far more serious.

She tells me she's just my mistress without it. That "I'm getting the milk for free". Is this relationship really an equal partnership? Does your girlfriend really believe in equal partnerships as much as she claims she does? If so, she would be getting as much out of it as you, and there would be no impressions on her part of you getting something for "free". What is it exactly about your current situation with her that marriage would change? Ask her that.

I think COTWA is certainly better than it was in the past. The name change and disabling comments really helped. Often times the comments were controversial, espousing anti-feminism, and valid as they may have been I felt like this too often detracted from the central point of the blog: To record various reports of false accusations of rape in a single place, point out and analyze changes in laws and university policies that unjustly harm the accused, and raise awareness to the issue. COTWA is i…

I understand. No matter what, you're best off getting some kind of drug test in whatever way you can, to see if you were spiked with something. The more you wait, the less likely it is you'll know if your wife really did this to you or not. If something tests positive, you can then confront her, understand why she did what she did. It'll be emotional and difficult, but it's something you must do.

Rape is rape. Adult female guards having sex with the male juveniles they're guarding in prison is rape, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. There is a serious power imbalance in this sort of relationship that very well may lead to many otherwise unwilling boys to consent to sex, and to compound that, we are talking about statutory rape between adult women and teenage boys. To say these teenage boys wanted it and should share some responsibility in what happened is victim blaming. It's high …

If true, your best bet is to go to the police immediately and inquire about the possible drugs she could have put in your beer and if there's any way for you to be tested for them. You'll likely be given a drug test and you can see if there were any substances in your system. If so, you'd confront your wife about it and the police would likely interview your wife and hand the case to the prosecutor, where they would then determine to press charges on her or not. If your wife is as perfect as you…

All you can do is get a lawyer, preferably one who is quite familiar with family law and child custody. Usually with visitation agreements, there is some provision in there that would require her to notify the father if circumstances change, like moving across the country, and she would need to work out a new visitation deal with him - likely one where the child spends most of the summer with him. A lawyer would certainly be able to help him in that.

I think this all depends on the situation, in what kind of relationship the man would like to pursue with those daughters who turned out to not be his. I can understand requiring him to pay child support if he wished to continue a father-like relationship with them, but I think he should certainly have the option to just walk away from them and their mother and cut off ties without having to pay child support too. I feel it's quite unjust to not allow that option.

On some level, men are expected to be the initiators of a relationship. It's not as rigid as it used to be and you'll certainly find a number of women these days who will do so and even enjoy it, but I think it's fair to say that the majority of women at this particular time in this particular society prefer being pursued rather than being the pursuers. Given that, it's usually the pursuers, in most cases men, who wind up overstepping whatever bounds set by the pursued, however reasonable or not…

What does Men's Rights Activism mean to you? Men's Rights Activism simply means the advocacy of men's rights. This entails raising awareness to issues where men are clearly ridiculed, discriminated against, etc. Prison sentencing is a good example, where men are much more likely to be incarcerated, and incarcerated longer, than women for the same crimes. You even have some women's rights groups advocating that women should not serve time in prison, while letting men remain in prison. I believe t…

It isn't that men need to change, but rather, that men (and women) need to recognize reality for what it is - that men can be, and often are victims of domestic violence and rape perpetrated by women, and this is nothing for men to be ashamed of.

I think the problem with mens shelters has more to do with the general ignorance people often have about the notion of men being victims of domestic violence or rape perpetrated by women at all, as well as the shaming many men who do seek help receive. The answer to this is to raise awareness, try to engage people in discussing these issues and attempt to more broadly change the way our culture perceives them. I'm not sure what kind of model would suit male victims of domestic violence / rape be…

I'd describe myself as an independent with a libertarian lean (at least on some issues, not all). Others would describe me as a moderate libertarian. I don't affiliate with any party and I don't tend to vote for one party more than the other.

•He has to sign away all rights before the baby is born. He does not get his name on the birth certificate. The child’s father will be registered as “unknown”. If someone else—say his ex’s new husband—wishes to adopt and coparent the child, he cannot interfere. Sounds fine to me. •The only exception to this is if the mother did not alert the father to the pregnancy beforehand. He should be able to provide witnesses to testify that he hadn’t seen her in at least six months prior to the birth. Sho…

This isn't as bad as others I've seen out there, in that it does have fairly useful advice for both ends. But it is a shame that it falls for the common stereotype that men rape, women get raped. Would be more useful if they used gender neutral language in addressing both sides.

I think the idea of blaming men collectively for a natural phenomenon in a woman's reproductive development is ridiculous. After all, the article is titled ""Men 'to blame for the menopause'". Younger women are more fertile, therefore men across all cultures and throughout human history have preferred younger women over older women. You could easily turn it around and say women collectively are to blame for the stereotypical 50 year old guy chasing after 20 year old college girls since they can'…

Simply put, what women could do that would be most beneficial to the men's rights movement is to stand by their beliefs and be outspoken with them. If you believe there are many issues that adversely effect men which are being ignored, a woman speaking up gives more legitimacy and credibility to that concern than a man speaking up would. Basically, participate and be a part of it as much as any MRA.

Men's rights is not a left or right ideology. It's all encompassing and transcends the traditional left vs. right schema so many Americans have. Let's not fall into the same trap feminists have by placing men's rights only in leftist circles (despite how "conservative" a number of feminists may be in some instances). I don't want to ridicule men for the political party they align with like how many feminists do with female republicans.

Talk to a lawyer, and do NOT talk to police without a lawyer present under any circumstance. Assuming she's pressing charges, a lawyer will inform you what you're up against and what your options are. It's the obvious first step in this dilemma.

I also think that the hatred of guys who complain about the friendzone is mean and unhelpful. Usually the underlying message is "just stop existing please". Agreed 100%. Most of these guys are inexperienced with dating, are socially awkward, and are usually average to below average in terms of appearance. Sympathy and constructive support would go much further than vilification. Most guys I've known deal with the friend zone at some point in his life, I view it more as a phase, a learning experi…

I'd just listen to what they have to say and judge them based on that. Sure, they could be lying or exaggerating, but so could anyone about any problem in their life. I don't think it's sensible to automatically assume a person is in the wrong just based on the type of problem they talk about.

There is some truth to the backlash against the concept of the friend zone, but I get the sense some people take it way too far. It's as if they assume that the guy who gets friend zoned is only after sex and has been from the very start, and is trying to manipulate / guilt her into it. I'm sure you'll find a few cases like that out there, but from most of what I've seen, it's really not. Most guys I've known who were friend zoned appear to lack the confidence to somehow make his intentions / in…

My response to this editorial: Where are the feminist protests against the mutilation of male genitals in this country? Where are the feminist protests against the prison rape epidemic against men being regarded as a joke in American pop culture? Where is the feminists' advocacy for lobbying for resources and raising awareness for the disproportionately high male suicide rate? It's as if on one hand feminists say they're all for equal rights and treatment, but on the other would completely ignor…

If failure to pay child support is considered contempt of court and worthy of throwing a person in jail over, so should this.

Men's rights isn't mutually exclusive with women's rights. In fact, I support both, and many in the men's rights movement does the same. The problem with feminism is mostly in some of their approaches to women's rights. For example, in cases of rape, the idea of making the accused prove their innocence (that they obtained consent) rather than the accuser proving their guilt (that they were raped), which would heavily hurt men as many false rape accusations have been documented and we're able to …

Let the school district or whoever awarded her the money sue her for it, but chances are they won't likely because they (correctly) figure they won't get anything out of it. But she should definitely put charged with perjury, making a false accusation. It is absolutely unacceptable somebody can do what she did and not face criminal charges.

Child molestation is more common than you might imagine, but it most often occurs in cases where the child molester knows and has a personal relationship with the child. Think step-parent, aunt, uncle, grandfather, grandmother, cousin, etc. Usually it takes place over an extended period of time, often years, as opposed to one random incident. Regardless, it's still relatively rare, to the point where to the vast majority of everyone will never experience it, never have to deal with it directly w…

What are goals of this movement? Broadly and specifically (in terms of legislation, etc etc)? How would you like people to perceive the movement? Broadly speaking, I'd say the goals are to increase awareness on the issues that primarily men face (or are currently being ignored) and resolve those issues. Specifically for issues the primarily men face, we'd be talking things like the criminalization of child support, the draft, the marginalization men face if they express vulnerability, the fact t…

If she's passionate about the subject, more power to her. There's nothing wrong with teaching philosophy. It's an interesting subject and it's good to have some teach it and be active in it. Her dismissal of anything that contradicts feminist theory is worrying though. There isn't much you can do, other than implore her to try to be calm and open-minded when debating, as well as understanding that your disagreeing with her doesn't mean you have bad intentions, or even self-serving intentions nec…

TYT has quite a large audience of feminists, I can imagine why they wouldn't want a war declared on them if they didn't make themselves crystal clear and wound up having their words twisted.
