IMO there's not really enough interaction to transition from the initial awkwardness into anything else unless date and myself already have an established foundation. I am sure, however, that there are ladies who really would like to go out for coffee and have idle chitchat. But even if that were the case... witty banter isn't something you mention. Like in my early dates, I made it a note to go to a gaming cafe for maybe 2-3 hours. The thing is, the dates went so well that those two hours turned into a dinner thing.
