In your opinion would a physician or therapist be better?

I am not afraid of him and don’t think he would ever be violent towards me. I appreciate the advice and agree on the red pill advice. I see a lot of good in that world but also a lot of stuff down your feelings and act like a man shaming.

Obviously, beating a child is not okay.

That is great! Glad you were able to come off the meds and stay healthy. Thank you for sharing these stories.

Thank you for sharing. He is 34. We work really hard to keep a stress free environment but it’s pretty impossible living in an 800 sqft house with three large dogs and no yard. I am sorry that it has been hard but am also glad that you have figured out a way to make it work.

Do you regret staying with someone with bipolar? How has it affected your life? What are something you do to help pull him out?

Well, since that post there has been change in our life. We are in the process of buying a home together. We have shared accounts and separate accounts. I feel like you are judging this post through your own lens and making a lot of black and white statements. That being said I am sure that I am also judging your comments through my own lens. He hit the dog when he lost his temper. Do you have a dog? Have you ever hit it when you were mad because it did something wrong? I once hit my dog because…

He works on him self regularly. He watches a lot of videos and reads self help and philosophy. I think he is fearful of seeing a therapist because he doesn't want to be attacked. Also, in today's world it seems like there is an attack on men and most of the therapist I have talked with seem quick to judge and condemn.

Thank you so much!! I tend to subscribe to the idea of independence and he seems to need more dependence. I would not of thought of going with him to help him feel supported. Typically he is afraid to do new things so this will help!

I never said he refuses to go. He just doesn't go. In the past, when I approach it at the right time he seems open to it but there is never movement on making it happen.

Thank you so much for this. I had not thought to put on videos at home. We spend a lot of time watching philosophical videos together so I think I could transition into those type videos with ease.

Thank you for your answer. That sounds a lot like him. Did your father ever see a therapist? If so, did it help and how did your mother encourage him to do so?

I say husband because typically people don't take partner seriously. I also do not subscribe to the idea of marriage as I don't want the government involved in my business.

Thanks! Any advice on how I can push him towards that in a way he would be open to? I have talked with him about it and in the past he seems receptive but never does it. As I mentioned, he snaps out of it and is fine for months. Then something goes out of wack like his sleep and he is down for a few days as I described in the post.

I agree. This is why I am wanting him to see someone about it. I feel like giving ultimatums is usually the wrong way to go about things but maybe in this situation it would be useful?

I understand what you are saying. I am truly looking for advice. I know he is the problem, I am just not really sure how to talk to him and encourage him to get help in a way that he can hear.

Thank you for the advice. I am going to give him an ultimatum about seeing a therapist/anger management. Also, I think a kennel may be a good investment. The dog is my husbands so I have been trying to let him figure out his situation but I think it is time for me to put my foot down.

I am safe and have my own money. I don't think he would ever be violent with me or a person. What would you say is appropriate help in a spousal dynamic?

As I mentioned in my post, I believe he is on the spectrum or he may have something else going on. Most of the time he practices what he preaches and we have a partner dynamic, but about once or twice a year for about 4 or 5 days, he goes off the deep end. He stops sleeping and eating and seems like a person who has autism. He freaks out about noises and lights. And then just like that, he snaps out of it. I really appreciate your response but I don't think life is this black and white. I have h…

I am okay, he has never been violent with me. My heart hurts for him because I see him. He is a good man but seems to have something more serious going on like you said.

I think sex work is wonderful. I’d prefer men to pay for sex than be some sort of pick up artist. Also, there are lots of men out there who have a hard time dating/finding women who would have sex with them. Sex workers are a great option for these men.

In the beginning we talked about kids and it seemed like we were on the same page. Four years later nothing is happening. I should add, two years into our relationship he got sick and has been sick since. I am not sure if I want to be with a sick person but feel super shitty for being that way.

You got me, mind readers, no, unhealthy enabler, yes. Women are conditioned to be thoughtful and selfless, behaviors both valued in the mother archetype. These behaviors lead to fulfilling others needs and wants with out being asked to do so.

I would agree with your statement 'they pay very little attention to how their own behavior influences others.' It is everyones duty to become aware enough to see how their behavior influences/affect others. Until one gains this awareness they are still a child. (Who wants to date a child?)

I think it is interesting that we condition women to be mind readers, having women believe fulfilling their s/o's needs before they are said is an expression of love. Personally, I like my ability to recognize others needs, I just wish the right expectation would have been set for me as a child. Sometime other's will not recognize or return your efforts to show them you care, this does not mean they don't love you.

You make a good point, but I would add that most of a woman's attention is directed towards her s/o and/or children. Having the illusion everyone thinks like you do could be considered a bit narcissistic, but I would say it falls under the setting the wrong expectation for yourself.

From my experience when I am direct with my s/o, he considers it nagging. He says if I hadn't asked him, he would have ended up doing it/making the decision at some point on his own accord. However, when I test his statement, it doesn't happen. So, I am left with one option (if I want a clean house), do it myself. I don't say this with any bitterness, I have just accepted it as true.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
