If you're going to go with local storage, use something that sends footage to a NAS device (with drives in a RAID array) and, ideally, make regular backups of footage (you can encrypt them and upload to a cloud service of your choice) though that might get expensive over time - burning backups on blu-rays is also an option (no cost of storage over time). Memory card is not a safe long term storage method.
