Many men voluntarily live celibate their entire lives. Is sex really more important to you than your wife and kids? As the child of a man who put his need for sexual gratification with other women above his family—I think you might need to think about your priorities. If you need sexual release why not self-pleasure? Seems like you are a slave to women not a father to your children.

Earning less because they are having and raising babies right?

That’s interesting! I wonder if there is something about journalism that is triggering this bias. In the past, the narrative being told about women is that employers don’t like to hire them because they will just leave to have babies or be bad employees because babies. Do you think there is a narrative that is being used to justify the systemic exclusion of men from jobs? Like men are risky or dangerous or might SA or something similar?

That’s for sharing! My heart goes out to you. My father was very hard on my little brother in a way that felt gendered to me. I think there is this idea that men need to be disciplined more harshly than women. I always wondered why there is a “Women’s Study’s” major and not a “Men’s Studies” major—it seems to me if you are only looking at women you are only seeing half of the equation. I am interested in the way that men use gendered stereotypes to control and exploit other men (with women often…

I think men encourage other men to be vicious to women about their looks as a massive cock block. The same guys that talk crap about a woman’s looks sweet talk her when his buddies backs are turned. I do think women are scared to have babies because it will ruin her looks but that has more to do with fears of abandonment by her partner.

I mean I think Teddy Roosevelt said that woman go to childbirth like men go to military service—childbirth is traumatic and dangerous just like military service and unlike military service, most women have multiple births. Lots of modern men and women don’t serve in the military or have babies…I would be fine with only letting those who serve their society vote…but it’s a little late for that now.

In college I took a women’s studies course where I was informed that all heterosexual sex is rape. I’m like…bullshit rape is rape. Desired sex is a source of joy, pleasure and life. I then started wondering why there was no Men’s Studies course and the rest is history. I still consider myself a feminist..but to me feminist means neither men or women should be subject to stereotypes or treated unfairly.

It’s because pregnancy causes food swelling and the bones in your feet relax so none of your shoes fit. Most women go up two or more shoe sizes during pregnancy.

All the women I know who have cheated have cheated for revenge reasons because they boyfriend/husband cheated first and they wanted to give them a taste of how betrayal feels: ie not good…not good at all.

Yeah but in the end they all want sex—so unless you’re willing to have sex with those people they will eventually stop wanting to work with you.

I think this is not a function of age gap per se but that a certain type of relationship schema (gold digger schema) and leads to abuse. Wealthy older men who date young women are often in a position of economic and financial superiority but often suffer from insecurity regarding the sexual fidelity of their much younger partners. This I think is a potent cocktail for abuse—think Othello. I agree that men are not hunting down younger women in order to abuse them—they don’t realize they are doing…

I think some men do and some men don’t, just like women. Some men are super involved devoted fathers and some are not (same with women as mothers) it just depends. I don’t like all the stereotyping around gender. My father was a huge jerk but my husband and grandfather are great husbands and fathers. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep, there is some truth there, women who are career-oriented tend to pick men who are not, they way, no protest when you nicely ask them to stay home with the kids. But SAHDs (like SAHMs) tend to have a midlife crisis after their kids are grown and their life lacks meaning and purpose which cause divorce, infidelity etc.

This! Most men don’t care about compatibility, friendship, or genuine connection, they just want to get the best looking woman they can and use this sort of emotional blackmail tactic to get it. Women are looking for someone who is going to stick around once her looks fade, and someone who has strong ethical and moral commitments. Moral fiber is not something that you can demonstrate by short term tactics designed to generate feelings of guilt and obligation. So women are looking for men who sho…
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/24 12:20 AM

You can say the same thing in reverse. Men routinely take the best years of women’s lives and then leave them when they are most vulnerable. Why would any women give her “pretty” years to a man when he will trade her in once she is older and has kids to care for? Everyone is scared, be brave, do your due diligence. That said, some people are just attracted to assholes…probably because of their family system and it’s very sad.

I mean, maybe she is in love with you and now is seriously considering whether she can continue the friendship or if it will be too painful? I totally understand that both men and women at times cannot continue a friendship once they catch feeling. The reality is, you will often keep hoping that one day they might be interested in you…only to be disappointed over and over. Perhaps her feelings for you are too strong to reasonably expect her to continue the friendship?

You’re not being very nice to me. I just meant to say that being a woman is not nearly as fun as you might think—so don’t torture yourself with the idea that it is. Life is hard for everyone but in different ways. Peace be with you.

Yes, admittedly my personality is absolutely dreadful. 😄Should have included but still proves my point, a small percentage of women are beautiful and charming enough to get stuff for free.

Yeah, this is such bullshit. I’m older now but I’m a woman and even when I was young and cute (113 lbs 5 ft 3) I never had men buying me dinner or drinks (maybe once or twice) and if they did it sex was inevitably demanded. I would guess only 2-6% of women are good looking enough to get anything “free” from a man and then only for a few years until her looks fade. I think most men would be surprised how little free stuff women get for their looks…

Toxic femininity is probably similar to toxic masculinity in the it is the over investment is stereotypically gendered expectations. So toxic masculinity might look like having sex with lots of partners in a deceptive, abusive, or uncaring way (using prostitutes for example) whereas toxic femininity looks like excessive chastity (refusing sex even with a loving committed partner). Toxic masculinity is shallow and overly focused on women’s youth and beauty while ignoring important character trait…

I think the cultural narrative that women never make false claims of sexual abuse is demonstrably untrue. Courts in the country still require evidence and juries. The laws have not changed…your statement sounds… implausible to me. Do you have any data to back up your claim?

I mean, I won’t comment on the wording of the study that you find problematic but I will say that Ruth Bader Ginsberg and the feminist wing of the ACLU fought very hard to ensure men specifically were given equal rights under the law and the Supreme Court outlawed a whole slough of laws targeting men for differential treatment (drinking laws, allowed men to get access to their wives’ military pensions etc.). You might disagree with the messaging of some modern feminists…but you can hardly say th…

I think a lot of women prefer being the pursuer, rather than pursued but we are pretty invisible (culturally). I pursued and proposed to my husband. I tell younger women that they should go get the men they like, in my experience, men who pursue women are pure trash. Find the quiet guy, or the guy in the middle of a group of other guys, and let him know you are interested. That’s the way to get a quality guy.

I think it’s weird that is a noun and not a verb/adjective. I think “patriarchal attitudes” harm both men and women in the sense that it is stereotyping people based solely on sex/gender. That hurts everyone. I know plenty of women, including feminists who are intensely patriarchal in their attitudes i.e., expect financial support form men, expect men to be tough, cruel, heartless etc. I consider all forms of misandry that partake of traditional male stereotypes as a form of patriarchy. I don’t …

Oh I agree men don’t owe protection to women who are not sexually faithful. In the original post, it said it was unfair to trade modesty, sexual chastity, and childbearing for protection and I disagree. I think the trad con deal with fair, and actually slightly benefits men over women since women’s sacrifice is certain but the man’s is only possible.

Childbearing is inherently dangerous and risky, a woman bearing a man’s child endures great pain and fear and risks death to bring forth children for her husband (as a certainty). Men trade the promise of protection for this, which, may never actually be required. I think it’s more than a fair trade.

Well I do think there is something special about being male such that boys do need guidance and mentoring from other males to transition from boyhood to manhood. Women’s maturation is so tied with their bodies and they physical vulnerability to pregnancy that women make the transition on their own—for women maturation is about coping with fear and anxiety triggered by female sex hormones. Boys, by contrast, really need healthy supportive community to teach them how to manage aggression, triggere…

Well I’m a feminist (I believe in gender equality) but I love autism spectrum people male and female because they are smart and honest and interested in things (as opposed to people). But I will say the most woke feminists hate my guts—mostly because I call them out on their double standards and I hate when they refer to men as creepy for no reason. Social skills are a gift, like being beautiful or sexually attractive. Funnily enough it seems like people who pride themselves on their social skil…

I would think a career woman would be a better bet because at least she has her own money/is too busy working to cheat/has shown that she can work with others? A woman who is dependent could get bitter and resentful or else feel insecure in the relationship and act out in all kinds of ways. Plus in this day and age it seems like anyone who plans to live off the work of others has a huuuuuge sense of entitlement.

Okay I’m surprised that this has not gotten more discussion but have you considered taking things really slow? Make friends with a woman, get to know her friends, her family…meet only in public spaces until you can determine her character? Also, consider dating a woman who is…average? I suspect a lot of women are warped and twisted by the power of their own beauty and sex appeal, find a woman who is kind, honest, and humane. Look for red flags, does she have good stable relationships? can she ho…

My husband is circumcised and had a botched hernia surgery that drastically reduced sensation “down there”. It’s not a problem for us although we both have a kink for denying him orgasm ☺️😂😊. He still usually orgasms once a week but we have sex more frequently. It’s super fun and rewarding and I’ve learned a lot. Sex is about fun and exploration and closeness. Burn the script and be free!

I mean beauty in women is the same as money in men. If both parties choose to be shallow and uninterested in a meaningful partnership then is it really surprising one of them got played? Men leave their beautiful wives all the time when they age…then find an identical wife 20 years younger. If she haven’t left him he would have dumped her as soon as she was “used up.” If you are lucky you find a partner who wants to opt out of that bullshit…but it means your husband might be broke sometimes and …

Feminist here. I think it depends on the age of the child. It’s pretty cruel to separate a breastfeeding babe from its mother for any significant period of time, especially once breastfeeding is established. It can be hard for babies to learn to bottle feed even in the best circumstances and you are basically separating them from their only known source of nourishment and comfort. I don’t see that it would make a huge difference for older children or infants without an established BF relationshi…
