I think feminists are in the wrong for not speaking up about great atrocities suffered by women and men across the world. However, what you're talking about isn't exactly cultural relativism. I'm not sure if the argument is saying it is right, just that they shouldn't be the ones who are leading these discussions. Maybe there is both? Relativism is an interesting topic in general however because in some ways it seems inherently good but in others wrong depending on the context.

The short answer to your question is Yes. Feminism and MRM are essentially the same in intent but differ wildly in practice for a bunch of different reasons. I think its helpful and necessary to break feminism(and MrM or other any philosophy) down into its intent and its practice. Feminism by definition has great intent/aspirations but has failed to meet those in practice. I personally think mrm is flawed in practice in different ways, but that's neither here nor there

I took it as more about the reaction of the public rather than his own and how that may have influenced his thoughts. Having worked in suicide prevention this is a serious problem. Our main issue is that we can barely even reach the men (mostly boys) because they are dead. I can't speak to the UK because I've never lived there but in the US the main issues I've dealt with are 1. Sexual Abuse 2. Loss of income and 3. Isolation

I think it is beneficial when they are younger (pre-high school) for boys as the standard for being "good" is typically sitting down and being quiet and boys look "bad" in comparison to the girls . But it is better for girls in the upper grades because excelling girls' grades tend to drop then but not in single sex classes. Obviously these are generalizations, you know your kids

Self-Harm is usually committed by girls beause boys tend to be more impulsive. Hence why girls have more suicide attempts but boys are more likely to be successful. But feelings, no. Men are more likely to be depressed than women. Also having worked with people with suicidal thoughts/ideation that kind of thinking is dangerous. So apparently Wesleyan requires all "Program Housing" (Farm House, Literary Society, Greek Societies, etc) to allow anyone to live there – male or female. There are no all male nor all female Program Houses. DKE can't meet this expectation because they would lose their national charter support, which does not allow for the change, that must be what they were referring to when they said "good faith effort to achieve a workable solution" because that initially confused me.

There is only one sorority at Wesleyan(and only 3 frats it turns out) it was excluded from the rule because they don't have on campus housing. The president of the sorority has come out against the decision as a "publicity stunt" My question is does Wesleyan have "male only" housing outside of the fraternity.
