Its paraphrasing, republicans have been trying to act like abortion is a race issue because of the disproportionate number of abortions among the black population, but since this is something they're doing voluntarily and not having forced on them, I think combating it should be something focused on examining the factors that lead to it (like rampant poverty) instead of on restricting access.

Thats really just falling back on the "states rights" argument to justify allowing discrimination. Many US states have shown time and again they will gladly infringe on people's status as free and equal citizens in order to cater to local voters that get hard from a self righteous sense of cultural dominance. With how gridlocked the House and Senate are right now, those "other avenues" effectively dont exist on a federal level, leaving most people at the mercy of sometimed very unfair state laws when it comes to their personal freedoms. The politicians saying "this should be a legislative issue" are the same ones that know damn well they can block any form of legislative progress.

If I had hard facts that demonstrate there is neurochemical evidence of this connection would you fall back on "I cant prove reality exists"? You literally search-engined the results you wanted and acted like you're right because you got more than 0 results. The American Sociological Association study you linked does indicate, probably with some accuracy, that women initiate the majority of divorces. It doesn't explicitly indicate why and the author's perspective seemed to explicitly contradict your halfassed conjecture.

That seems like an awful way to view the world. Weight is just one dimension on which people could be "evaluated" and the reality is nobody is perfect. With that kind of thinking, anyone in any relationship is settling unless they know that they found a partner with "higher value" and then they have to live their whole lives with the insecurity that they dont measure up to their partner. I've never felt like I was "settling pragmatically" with a romantic partner.
