The details of the day are different, but the big worry is either “will I bring home enough money to meet our needs” or “will my husband bring home enough money to meet our needs?” Doesn’t seem so different. I’m def choosing wage slave where I have control over the effort put forward and where that effort allows me to build skills and a resume that will act as a permanent investment into my life.

So you’re just a dunce? It’s called feminism for a reason. Why should an ideology aimed at promoting equality for women also focus on men’s issues?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/25 03:02 AM

I mean… why would they? Isn’t the whole point of feminism to advocate for issues specifically concerning women? How is the circumcision of male babies included in that scope? Are you also angry about environmental agencies for not advocating against it?

So what’s the limit? If she hates anal but let some manipulative guy pressure her into it when she was 22 how long does she need to keep lubing up for you until you feel adequately validated?

You’ve never been in a long term relationship, have you? A marriage might last FIFTY years. If you are persistently suffering for your partner to show your “deep true love” for them, that is absolutely going to eat you up. It’s unhealthy, because it shows a lack of self esteem and ability to set boundaries. Eventually that kind of devotion starts to slip and turn into resentment. You need to have the ability to talk about these things and be comfortable with differences with your partner.

It never fails to amaze a lot of the guys here that women don’t want to punish people for not being attractive to them. I wonder if that’s part of why so many of them interpret women not wanting to date them as cruelty.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 11:36 PM

I can see why; imagine having a partner who is mature and able to screen for a quality relationship choosing you instead of some codependent mess. How terrible for him. Someone should send flowers.

It’s only an ego killer if you have nothing else to prop up your self esteem in your sad little life. This is a “you” problem (not necessarily you personally, but everyone with these views). Obsessing over some other guy’s dick years after it’s been in your wife’s vicinity is pathetic.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/11/24 05:54 AM

Ah yes, the “consequences for him”. By that you mean what, having to deal with the idea that Someone Else’s Dick was in his wife at some point, before they met? That possibly that dick was larger than his, or that the individual wielding it could have some sexual skill he does not? How terrible for him. Obviously as a mere accessory to her future husband’s she should have just crossed her legs and sat patiently in her father’s home, waiting for him to come take over custody. Get over yourself. W…

It’s not really the same thing at all, tho. The big difference is the relationship the parent has with the child. No, I would not help my husband raise a child that he brought to me out of the blue while confessing an infidelity. I don’t know that child, I don’t love it, I don’t have any specific concern for it’s well-being beyond what I have for any random stranger’s kid. On the other hand, someone who finds out that a child he’s been raising for years is not his own is in a much tougher positi…

Basic among normal people. But think how often we see people on this sub claiming women want criminals/gang members/serial killers/etc. Which of course some women do, because people be cray, but they take those crazy women and extrapolate their tastes to the greater population. We see those takes on this sub all the time, so I think it’s fair to include it.

Of course we should grow old and die. We are organic beings. How does that have anything to do with the rest of the discussion? I’m guessing you are trying to make some evopsych argument about your theoretical dom/sub relationships being “just biology, dude”. As if humans don’t have an incredibly complex social structure and system of communication built on top of that and contributing as much if not more to our actions and beliefs.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/24 07:27 PM

Nah. Not outside of your little fetish club. Most normal people are able to respect their partner as an equal. And likewise find a partner who respects them as an equal.

The thing that always amazes me is how they completely ignore the guys part in it. Those first few dates are like a courtship dance- you have to play your part. I’m happy to have sex early, if I find you attractive and we are clicking socially. There are guys who will push forward with that, so I’ve dated guys in the past and had sex within the first couple dates with them. Then there’s my SO, who I had to finally take by the hand and LEAD back to the bedroom, because he was so terrified of maki…

This is such a common thing. I’ve dated a couple guys like this, and it’s amazing how out of touch with reality they can be, while still claiming their superiority. I’ll even admit that I had some tendencies this direction when I was doing my undergrad stem degree, but then I… grew up. Looked around at how the world actually functions. I think in older people who don’t grow out of it it either comes from feeling less than, and desperately clinging to the one objective success in their life, or i…

Steep order given the disparity in testosterone between the sexes, unless you’re recommending men date someone considerably less attractive than they are.

You’ve figured out the problem! People with an interest in compatibility and equality with their partners (aka good older men) don’t tend to target 18 year olds. It is indeed the manipulative men doing that.

A bad partner (of any age) can have major negative ramifications on a young persons life, sure. Unfortunately there’s a big overlap between people who target very young partners and people who are some combination of: manipulative, selfish, controlling, irresponsible, etc.

I’m not sure that being a single dads is seen as a true positive, esp given the rising number of women choosing not to have kids. I think most people choosing to be child free would have no interest in a single parent partner, esp if that person is the primary caretaker. But I do think it is overall seen less negatively than being a single mom. More of a neutral, perhaps. I think there’s probably a variety of factors playing into it. Men are less likely to be the primary caregiver. It’s easier f…

Do you apply this argument to all the shitty decisions very young people make? If your child decided to join a cult, or abandon their real job to become an Avon member, or drop out of college to have some dirtbag’s baby, you wouldn’t try even a little bit to talk them out of it? If so I think you’re the one whose parenting skills are questionable. Just because your child turns 18 doesn’t mean you suddenly no longer care about their welfare. But let’s be real, you’re probably 19 yourself and thin…

Good news is, if your daughter likes to dress up in latex and beat her man with a riding crop, you probably won’t ever find out about it. That’s part of her private life, and I agree, I wouldn’t want to know about it. But this is a romantic partner. You telling me you never want to meet the man your daughter is dating, possibly marrying one day? A romantic partner affects a much bigger part of your child’s life than their sexual proclivities, this is a poor analogy. And it is very possible to no…

When specifically has this happened when the men’s support group has stayed a place for people to seek positive support and not turned into a hotbed of hateful content? People here often complain about the incel subs being shut down, for example. I believe this is possible but haven’t seen any examples. Open to learning. Was there? Abortion is a best “theoretically” available to a large portion of society. How easy is it for a very poor woman to get an abortion? Or a 16 year old whose parents don’t approve? Or people living in the large number of countries where it is illegal? And yet you are jumping through hoops to try and absolve your fellow men of any accountability whatsoever.

Women talking about their heightened intuition are just the gender swapped equivalent of the men proclaiming their superior logic. They’re all morons. Actually intelligent, intuitive, logical people don’t have to work so hard to convince others about it.

What kind of “abuse” do you imagine you will receive? Unless you mean like getting kicked out of yoga class for actively creeping on people? It’s more nuanced than that, but you have the idea. Essentially, hitting on people who aren’t interested in you can absolutely set you up to be considered creepy. Attractive or otherwise “desirable” people are more likely to have people be interested in them, thus they can get away with more forward behavior. But there is a limit; even the hottest guy can tip over into the creepy zone- the line is just a lot further out. Garett from Costco has a lot of factors working against him; his line is dr…

Who are you, the creepy police? This is an extremely common viewpoint among the people actually experiencing these approaches. What percentage of early 20s women do you imagine are open to dating someone only a few years younger than her dad? It is a mark of laziness/childishness when a guy so DESPERATELY wants this to be true. If only he could keep her happy and loyal- just by being good at sex. If only that was all it took, then he could ignore a lot of those other obligations because she’d always come back for the D. Guess what- it doesn’t work that way. Even for highly sexually active couples, sex makes up a minor percentage of their time together. And it doesn’t matter how hot his moves are if the rest of the relationship is shi…

Because many women see it as being harmful to other women. Same reason it’s largely women objecting to large age gaps in relationships. I don’t think people spend as much time thinking about or objecting to issues that harm the opposite gender. So I wouldn’t expect it to be on as many men’s radar.

Exactly my thought. Many people will have coupled up in their mid to late 20s. Why is it a surprise that dating would be harder as a late 30 year old, and likely have fewer favorable options?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 03:11 PM

Yeah, nah, this isn’t an army company. Most relationships are between people with different strengths and weaknesses, and sensible people will discuss issues that come up and either reach a compromise or defer to the partner with greater experience in that area. There are relatively few people outside beaten down members of fundamentalist religions or BDSM subs who just want to cede control over their lives to their partner.

OP, look into hedonic adaptation. Essentially, the theory suggests (with some data to support it) that happiness is less linked to the events of our lives than you might expect, and that individuals have a sort of “set point” for happiness that they return to even after major life changing events, good or bad. Win the lottery? Bump in happiness that gradually levels out after a matter of years. Become paraplegic? Decrease in happiness that levels out over years. I bet people in the past were gen…

/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/24 08:39 PM

So you think it is as important for men to profess their individual dating preferences, insultingly if they so desire, as it is for a dedicated researcher to share their data with the world? I think the reason this comment is so long is that you are having to go out of your way to justify your view that people who want a relationship don’t necessarily try to make it work. Frankly, they do. I’ll give you that every once in a while they might learn something new about the potential partner that causes them to immediately lose interest. But especially in the early phases of a relationship, people are remarkably forgiving of their partners’ flaws. The rose colored glasses are firmly in …

Many people actually view their romantic partners as people rather than interchangeable resources, actually. Deny it all you like, but it’s a pretty limited and unfulfilling world view you’re presenting here, and fortunately there are plenty of men out there (of all levels of attractiveness) capable of recognizing that.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/24 04:19 PM

Most people who are actually invested in a relationship don’t just drop their partners when the novelty wears off. If the relationship is something they want, they communicate, they work to find common ground/compromise. People who were never invested are more likely to just ghost, or say something rude/dismissive, or even come out and say they were just in it to get laid.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/24 03:54 PM

We will always deny it, because it’s a simplistic view of the world. People- even men!- are capable of complex emotions and connection to other people. I’m sorry you haven’t experienced/encountered that in your life, but I’m afraid there’s a lot you’ve been missing out on.

It’s bad phrasing, because it’s really not about the sex. It’s about the lies. Guys who come out and say “hey, I’m not looking for a romantic relationship but I’m willing to engage in a purely sexual one” are fine. It’s the guys who pretend to be invested while truly only looking for sex who are the problem. Consider the difference between a prostitute and a gold digger. But if the friends in your likely embellished/cleaned up story turn against you, and the internet is generally unsympathetic towards you, you probably did something that came off as a dick move. Get this- no one in real life knows your state of mind either. All we see are your actions. And, to really blow your mind, those actions are then being interpreted through the lens of each person’s perspective. So if you do things that other people interpret as shitty, you’re going to get social blow back. So many people want to be judged by the good person they believe themselves to be inside- well if your actions come across as shitty, no one can see that supposedly good inside you.

He sure can. And she and all their friend group can look at his actions and go, “wow. What a dick move.” Actions have consequences. In this case, dropping your “friend” as soon as it’s clear she’s not going to fuck you is going to make other people see you as selfish and uncaring. Nice guys love to lean into the “well he’s not REQUIRED to do x y z”. That’s not what anyone is arguing. Of course it’s not required. But they’re missing the whole undertone of what friendship actually means- that you …

I’m explaining where the “entitled” thing comes from. It’s the perception that these guys want something for nothing- ie, for whatever reason they are not able to offer traits women want, but still feel they should find dates as easily as those who do.

So because you MAY never get better, it’s not worth trying to get better? Does the same apply to, oh, literally every other skill out there? Can you ride a bike? Or did you fall off once, so oops, never again. How many people actually have such severely compromised social abilities that they have no ability to improve them? And yet are somehow able to live independently in the world? I bet not that many. As long as you are not successful socially, but you WANT to be successful, the only answer i…

Sure. I don’t disagree, and even feel it’s likely that a lot of guys who struggle to attract women have good personalities or the potential to be a good partner. But how would any random woman know about their untold depths of awesome if they can’t actually show it to her? How is she supposed to just magically know that this is a good guy who should be given an opportunity if he cannot through his appearance or actions offer anything that makes being with him better than being alone? *absolutely nothing to offer that women desire. Or they are unable to effectively market their positives, which is more likely. And comes to the same. Why should a random woman just jump into a relationship to someone who doesn’t seem like an improvement to her current life? I think her point is that it is possible to get better at these things with practice. I used to have terrible anxiety over public speaking (and to be fair kind of sucked at it), but now I do it regularly as part of my job, and I can say honestly it no longer bothers me and I am much more fluid and effective at getting my points across. Same thing here. Force yourself to get through the awkward, incompetent stage, and eventually you will start to learn how to adapt to being more acceptable social…

Ok, so not autistic just deeply bitter, sad, and desperate. It seems like you’ve had a lot of negative dating experiences over your life, and it’s left you unable to connect with others? Or maybe you were always this way and the negative experiences are secondary to that. Either way, now you’re here, believing everyone has the same calculating, antagonistic approach to dating that you do. When for most people, that is not the case! Out of curiosity, are you autistic? I ask because this is a social norm that I have seen autistic guys struggling with, and I see some of that reflected in this comment. There’s more to it than that and you know it. Guy asks out girl, girl says no. Later, guy asks out another girl. Normal. Not a problem, even in a small town. Where the problem comes in, is when guy asks out girl, she says no, and then the guy immediately moves on to the next target(s). Precisely. To go back to the OP’s question, women are turned off by a guy hitting on a bunch of women around them because those are behaviors that suggests a lack of interest in her as anything other than a potential sex partner. Which women don’t generally appreciate.

What? What are you even arguing here, that because a woman might like to go out and dance with people and have fun at a club that means she’s… implicitly ok with being raped or injured by some sleeze? That the possibility of something negative happing means all the positives are disregarded? People like rock climbing, but most of them don’t like falling and breaking a leg. But what about the experience the other person expects/deserves? Not saying your approach is bad, or wrong, but it’s not what most people are looking for in a relationship, and I’m not sure you can communicate your way out of the incompatibility. Sex is fun/feels nice. I think a lot of women in the casual sex scene are just high libido, sex positive people doing what feels right to them. There are ways to reduce the risk of pregnancy/disease, and while the “partner count” thing is a big deal on the internet, in the real world and especially in the circles these women run with it’s not an issue. Seriously, saving this post to use as an example the next time someone is whining that men never get any compliments. Not only did OP twist this innocuous interaction into a whole story in his head, he then went and tried to use it to cause trouble in OP’s personal life. Probably because he’s jealous of their seemingly supportive and normal relationship. I think OP could stand to take a break from social media and work on himself a bit. Oh not necessarily. I have a lot of nerd hobbies, and as a result have plenty of dude friends who struggle with dating. I think you want it to be a competition because why else bring up the tik tok ladies? My comment was about OP’s bizarre list, and your response was to immediately change the subject to shallow women instead. Which is the majority of this response as well. Is it meant as a defense of OP? That it’s ok to be completely self centered and not regard your partner as a full human because a lot of women like tall rich guys? I’m still curious about your views on the OP specifically.

I get that the tik tok ladies are very distracting, and you really want to turn this into a competition about who’s more shallow. Straight women who interact with men in the real world don’t have it too bad- most guys aren’t like the men on PPD thank god. But I completely agree about the list. Gonna be honest, anyone who would post that list of traits desired in a partner should be avoided at any age. You don’t want a woman. You want a woman-shaped object. There’s nothing in your list that reflects any humanity or personality.

I love male energy and have a lot of platonic dude friends. This is going to be full of generalizations, but in some ways dude friends are easier. I actually have some sympathy for this response. It probably is true, esp for a less attractive person, that any opener gets shot down, possibly not kindly, and that is sad. Unattractive people and socially awkward people have it rough. That said, play the hand you’re given. Maybe a light, platonic opener gets shot down 47/50 times while a “creepy” or potentially creepy opener gets shot down 50/50 times. If women approached men with open sexual attention I’m sure it would go over well for several reasons: 1. Men have a higher sex drive so are more likely to be into that; 2. Men on the whole have less fear of sexual aggression than women. For your poorly articulated job analogy… yes? The key here is exactly that- he doesn’t know anything else about you. He is basing the entire desire to approach you solely on the fact that he thinks you’re hot, and a lot of women don’t like that. Sexual attention feels predatory, especially for women with a history of negative sexual behavior from men. On some level, I think everyone understands that a man approaching a woman is doing so because he finds her attractive, and that’s ok. But for most women, it is much more appealing for the man…

The clinginess is actually a huge factor, as someone who likes nerdy guys and therefore has ended up with two virgins and a couple of “second timers” in the past. Guys with limited experience and a mindset that sex is hard to come by (also common in my preferred demographic) will latch on like limpets. It’s not the teaching/taking the lead in the bedroom. I’m confident in what I want and what I can offer, and I’m happy to guide my partner. It’s the massive importance these guys put on the experi…

Some of them, yes. Not all. I don’t disagree that they would like a partner. They might even be happier with a partner, tho being in a relationship is no guarantee of happiness. But again, do you really think they will be better off without the things they have acquired that DO make them happy? Do you think a lonely person can’t love their cat? Or find satisfaction at being successful at work? Or enjoy participating in hobbies? Or have a wide network of platonic friends? Again, what is the point…

30s-40s. Which I think probably helps explain it; they’ve grown out of the “my entire life revolves around my dick” phase. Edit: also, I doubt they are all 100% content. Not saying that. I’m sure most of them WOULD like to find a partner, and there’s nothing surprising about that. Most people want that. But do you think they are LESS content than they would be if they just sat around a moped and refused to take part in any other aspect of life? How would that be better?

So your argument is what, that he flip the board and say “I’m quitting! If I don’t get exactly what I want I’m not playing anymore!” Can you see how childish that is? For what it’s worth, I actually know multiple men who are unlucky romantically, and still manage to be part of society. Guess what they do. They go on with their lives. They have friends. Active social lives. Hobbies. Pets. Jobs they find challenging and engaging. Advanced degrees. I’m sure most of them would love to add a romantic…

Maybe to a point. But that point comes pretty soon, I think. If you’ve lobbed a couple conversion starters her way and had them get smacked down, and she’s not smiling/making some eye contact, and she keeps looking around the room/at her phone… I’d move along. Even if she is anxious/avoidant are those emotional problems you want to deal with, when there are women out there more willing to pull their weight in the relationship?

So the thing is, this should be what everyone does, and it is one of those things that seems obvious to people who understand how to read social cues but that many men here seem to struggle with. Those women who were dry and standoffish? Probably not wanting to talk to you. For one of many different reasons, not necessarily anything personal. So yeah. Take your attentions to where they are appreciated.

Wow OP that’s really unfair, I mean they probably already made a Tinder profile with no bio and two grainy selfies and blind swiped on 5000 profiles, what more can you ask of them?

Maybe you will. But from your partner’s perspective, there’s no guarantee. In fact, it is common enough in society for a man who has managed to increase his SMV to dump his loyal partner for new exciting poontang that there is a name for it- Starter Wife. It’s a complex situation. Can’t really blame the partner who increased their value from wanting someone who has shown loyalty since the beginning- no one wants to feel like their partner is only with them because they want their resources, and …

Yup. Turns out that without the winning combo of building up pregnancy/motherhood to be this wonderful experience and simultaneously limiting other outlets for women to add meaning to their life a lot fewer women are feeling the “biological imperative” to have children. Plenty still do, because hey, we are animals, but the human forebrain has a lot of override power.

It really depends. I think there’s a way to have this conversation that shows maturity, ie, “when I was younger I had a tendency to get into relationships quickly/have hookups as a result of insecurity, and as a result I dated/slept with a lot of people who I would not associate with today.” Of course this should then imply that you’ve been working on yourself, and no longer need the crutch of being sexually desired by randos to prop up your self esteem. On the other hand, if you present it as s…

I think that is probably true… for a little while. The infatuation phase of a new relationship is a time when lots of things get overlooked, by both parties. But that only lasts so long. If you have the type of personality that turns women off to the extent that you feel you have to walk on eggshells around them, that seems unlikely to play well in a long term relationship. Even if an initial attraction manages to get you in the door, significant personality clashes will eventually end a relatio…

No one will be able to tell you exactly what it means in your specific case, of course, without interacting with you. But I dated a guy I would consider to be “too nice” previously, so I’ll tell you what it meant to me and you can see if anything rings true for you. He treated me with kid gloves. Not to mean “he treated me well” which of course he did, but it was way over the top. He WOULD NOT disagree with me about anything, even harmless things. If I asked him what was his favorite X, he would…

Yup. It gets presented as only not wanting an obnoxious, argumentative partner (some of the other comments in this thread bring this up) which is of course totally reasonable. No one wants that. But the opposite of that is not a “submissive” partner. It’s a partner who can communicate in a clear, calm, and adult way, who can work together with their SO to find a solution to problems facing the marriage/couple. This person respects and listens their partner’s opinions and feelings, and takes thei…

I’ve said similar things before. To me, it’s about compatibility. I have a career I’ve worked hard to build that provides me a great deal of personal satisfaction. I’m surrounded by similar people at work. Most of my friends are similar people. If I dated someone who just had a job, who does the minimum needed to make a living, that would be a huge area of difference between us. My job pays very well, and I can afford alone the sort of lifestyle I want. So it’s not that important to me that he b…

Being desired by many. Not so much because of the sexual options… but because of the halo effect. We know people treat others they are attracted to more positively, and this bleeds over into almost every facet of life. For example, I read a study once that showed doctors pictures of fake patients, some more attractive than others. The attractive patients had a higher percentage of abnormal findings identified by the doctors reviewing their imaging than the unattractive patients. THAT’S what I wa…

Where matters way less than how. Few places are truly, 100% off limits, as long as you keep the opener low pressure and not overtly sexual, and you can read body language well enough to figure out if she’s not feeling you. If that’s the case, back off peacefully, and she will be relieved and nothing more will come of the incident.

Frankly yes. It’s much more rare, so by definition more special. But moreover, it usually is not that she is looking for someone who wants a sexless relationship. She’s looking for someone who hits all the marks- both caring and invested in learning about her and building a life together, and also a good and passionate lover.

I don’t think it makes her look bad. What makes you think she doesn’t care about his other thoughts and feelings? Is it just the phrasing that you object to? Would you have the same reaction if the other posted had said something like “I would rather not know if that is how he feels because for xyz reason(s) I cannot return his affection, and I don’t want it to affect our friendship”?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/23 11:47 PM

I didn’t get the impression it was generally applied to all his thoughts and feelings, just the fact that he finds her attractive. There are some thoughts that are probably best kept to yourself, and this seems like one of them to me. What is the benefit of her knowing about this particular feeling, for either of them?

To what end, exactly? I’m with the other poster; my male friend having the hots for me doesn’t change much unless I’m also attracted to him and both of us are single. I’d honestly rather not know, because then I might feel more awkward/guarded around him. I’d start second guessing whether my innocent actions could be misinterpreted. I might start pulling away, causing us both to lose a friend. I can imagine a host of other downsides and not a lot of positives. What would be the benefit to either…

Women’s receptiveness is the crux of the issue That is what I was trying to say in my comment: I would have been receptive to him sooner! In fact I was pulling out all my sexy flirting tips to try and encourage him to make a move. His anxiety kept him from acting on anything short of being led physically to the bed lol. It’s like a dance. Yes she has to be receptive, but he also has to pick up on/act on her invitation. And guys who struggle with dating are notoriously poor at reading body langua…

That’s the one :) I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but to flog a dead horse: women aren’t sex dispensing machines. And it goes both ways- men are also not required to fuck their partners if they aren’t feeling it. I’m guessing you’re pretty young, but shit happens in life that you can’t control. I just watched one of my coworkers get diagnosed with breast cancer this year. She’s spent the last six months dealing with surgery/chemo/RT. She’s lost her hair, she’s lost a ton of weight, every time…

Be sure and express this notion to any woman you decide to enter a committed relationship with. In fact, might be a good idea to have her sign a contract, with specific clauses devoted to (a) illness, (b) childbirth (c) your own aging/weight gain/other decline in physical attractiveness. What do you see as her wifely duties in those situations? Better spell it out, so she knows at exactly what point her job performance drops to the “husband deserves to cheat on me” level!

Did you date someone not great in bed: Most guys that you date as young 20 year old together are not great in bed, so sure. Why: Because I was a young 20 year old and probably not so great in bed myself. It’s all about learning what you like and growing together. How important is sex to you: It depends. What else does he offer in the relationship? If it’s just something casual, and he’s not otherwise fun to spend time with, I wouldn’t continue the relationship at this stage in my life. If he’s o…

The equal wait time thing is silly to me, in part because it completely removes the guy from the equation. It assumes that all guys are equally ready to have sex from the very start of the relationship and are moving towards that goal with equal speed. And that’s simply not true. Establishing a connection and making the mutual decision to have sex is a complex social interaction, and both partners have their role. My partner and I, for example, went something like six weeks before we hooked up f…

Yup, like sorry but other people are absolutely not required to date you if they don’t like you. If you’re not a likable person, your choices are: 1. Stay the course and hope you find someone who’s unlikability matches yours or someone who is desperate enough to ignore your issues, or 2. Change yourself to become more likable to more people. That’s the reality of the situation, and whining about it being hard/unfair will change nothing.

I think it’s unreasonable (controlling) when it spills over into impinging on someone’s self expression or individual identity. If one partner never puts their dirty clothes in the hamper, and it bothers their partner, I don’t think that’s controlling to ask them to start doing so because no one identifies as A Person Who Never Uses a Hamper. But telling someone what clothes to wear, what music to listen to, what political party to vote for, etc all come at the cost of their ability to express t…

Oh for sure, if we’re talking who has the “ideal” masculine build (who appeals to the greatest number of women total) then being tall is part of it. But if you’re already a short dude and trying to make the most of what you’re working with, does being super jacked gain you more points than just being lean and having sort of a swimmers build? I’m not sure it does (would be interested to hear other thoughts/experiences). I imagine being short and fat is probably a huge disadvantage, but short and …

Maybe. I think that might even overshoot it a bit. I think being lean and having some definition is already going to set you so far above the crowd that the additional bonus from hitting your natural limit will probably be small.

I get what OP is saying, though. It’s not that he isn’t jacked, obvi MBJ is built, but there are plenty of body builder types who are even MORE jacked. And at a certain point (honestly probably somewhat below MBJ level) the additional returns of female attention begin to level out. The lean guy with some muscle definition appeals to a lot more women than the fat guy or the really scrawny guy. The super jacked guy appeals to the subgroup of women who are into that look, but also starts to lose ap…

No, because we understand that people are different and aren’t trying to make rules for everyone. It’s about compatibility- a mismatch in libido is a common source of discordance in a relationship. Women with a lower libido value finding a guy with a similar one- which tends to be challenging given, ya know, testosterone! But at the same time, those lower libido women will never be a good match for a man with a high sex drive who places a high value on sexual exploration and connection. He’s not…

Totally true. One person’s creepy is another person’s quirky. Women are in fact all individuals with their own thoughts and minds. Those tik tok ladies making pronouncements are using their own opinions and experiences to make recommendations. Of course it’s not 100% of women who feel that way; probably for even that individual woman there could be exceptions to the rules. That said, so what? Is it not still beneficial to hear where other people are coming from, to get better at understanding ot…

Correct, to go back to the OP’s example we have no info about this world traveling women’s partners. I think this is unrealistic to expect. This sort of critique needs to come from your friends (male or female). The problem with giving critique as you are rejecting someone is that one of two outcomes will occur frequently: It will compound the insult, and the person approaching will be more likely to respond aggressively. “You think I’m not muscular enough? Fuck you, you fat bitch, you don’t deserve…” It will give the person something specific to latch onto, and they will then try to convince y…

I suppose if the woman is an emotionless sociopath who only sees the men around her in terms of what she can get from them, there’s not a lot of downsides. If she’s smart enough to keep the men in her world separate from one another and successfully hide her deception then she gets financial support from the “official” husband/boyfriend while getting getting some extra hot tail on the side then I guess that is the best of both worlds in a very superficial sense. But I think not a lot of women ar…

When did she decide to voluntarily go through either a birth or abortion? When she decided to have sex? Because she know those were potential outcomes? I’d agree with that. Women generally know birth control isn’t 100%. But then, why doesn’t it work that way when men decide to have sex- you know this could produce a child, so isn’t proceeding in the face of that not implicit consent to support your potential child? That’s a devision he’s making voluntarily too. If you absolutely do not want to s…

Exactly. The cold approaches I found most pleasant were when guys didn’t immediately open with a comment about something physical. “You’re really pretty, any chance I could (buy you a drink/get your number/etc.” I’m not offended by it, and of course I understand physical attraction will play a big part in the decision to approach, but it’s just so generic. There’s a lot of pretty women out there, many much prettier than me, and lots of men who appreciate pretty women. So what else is there? If m…

I mean, what happens if she gets burned in a fire? Or develops a disfiguring facial cancer? Or any number of other possibilities? Do looks matter then? If the issue is losing your desire to have sex with someone, and that “turns it from a romantic relationship to a friendship” then how do you feel about having sex with her if her belly and limbs are swollen with fluid, her breath reeks, and her skin is yellow from liver failure? Probably not too into that, I’d imagine. Which is fine. Understanda…
