The only reason I mentioned the jury is because so many juries fail to understand what proof beyond a reasonable doubt means. The majority of juries simply decide whether they think a person is guilty or not. I think that's a serious problem but I seem to be alone in that.

I disagree on a small point. People are saying she isn't entitled to anything from her ex-husband. Her life was flipped upside down too and a lot of people in the comments recognize that. She does deserve some kind of compensation, not $3 million and not a dime from her ex-husband, but some kind of compensation.

This is why the justice system needs more accountability. I imagine that if the $6 million came from the pensions of the police and DA who sought the wrongful conviction that they'd be a lot more careful in the future. They'd make absolutely certain they had the right guy, which is how it's supposed to be.

I agree. She does deserve to be compensated but not by her husband. If anyone should be paying her, it's the people who are responsible for his wrongful conviction, the cops and DA, maybe even the jury. Defamation is a tort, not a criminal liability. A tort is a law for which there can be no jail, typically only monetary compensation. The false allegations would be a legitimate crime but she wouldn't even get a slap on the wrist.
