Therapy is discussion with someone who has explored the possibilities and possible roots of your insecurities more than yourself. By asking a breadth (certainly not representative) of people who regularly talk about gender dynamics has in itself some worth (at least not zero worth). By just repeating “go to therapy” you’re not only just repeating a stated opinion in a forum but assuming that my problem cannot be solved by the layman or a layman’s mind. I disagree. For the record, I have done the…

I appreciate your response. I agree the only person who matters in my life is me (as you in yours) but this post is about me. I’m talking about an insecurity I’m dealing with. My opinion matters to me but it is indecisive and therefore unhelpful relative to this particular insecurity, this why I’m asking rando god only knows who on reddit

I eat veggies all the time. Iceberg lettuce counts, right? Nah I’m jk. Appreciate the response. I just feel like this insecurity might be hardwired in me, do you think that it can be reversed by simply living in the present? I feel like that would take a hell of a lot of discipline to enforce.

Exactly. I’m trying to solve this problem before it even begins to manifest.

I apologize if this came off as neurotic. I did not ever say that physical attraction isn’t important or that people who believe so are neurotic, as I myself hold those standards in account. I’m not viewing being fat or overweight as anything other than being fat or overweight. I suppose in the few seconds contemplating this reply, an analogy with money replacing weight is... kinda similar? Let’s say you were poor and people who were not treated you poorly for being so. But now your rich, how do…

Do you think it’s possible to define a line between the two? Where exactly does it lie?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/19 07:17 AM

Nope. I’m straight. I just think, we’ll perhaps know that I actually did think, “intriguing” might have been the better word than attractive. But that’s what I meant. I suppose intriguing isn’t always the same as attractive, but I still stand by what I say. The more mysterious and unpredictable, the better anyone is, irregardless of gender.

I’m not superstitious. But I don’t make any claims either way. I think these points are actually of interest to people in relationships, especially when children are involved. Does that not merit a discussion?

I feel like we’re describing the same thing here. Where’s the disconnect?

Possible but unlikely, as the concept of god dictates that the entity referred to as god existed before humans, and that is why the entity is most often referred to as the creator of humanity

Could you explain what your def of a soul is and compare notes?

On 4) read up on the mind body problem, perhaps starting with descartes(tho it’s a bit dated) If you don’t care, why I racked on that last bit is because the literal concept of a soul is that it is immeasurable, impossible to understand, and does not exist within the dimensions that we do (time and space) if the soul could be understood, it would not be a soul.

Hey man, tone down your rhetoric please. You’re 100% right about both. One could even go as far to say that there is no prole- controlling qualities of primitive, unorganized religion. But I’d say that most if not all organized religious institutions operate on some kind of agenda separate from simply being good over evil. Not to mention the fact that your examples only manifested after organized religion had taken control. What you say to be western centric classist bullshit to me is plausible …

How would you define true love?

You don’t think visible signs of physical attraction can be measured? Increased heart rate, perspiration, swelling of the dick and balls, etc? I hope I’m not coming off as dismissive, I’m just trying to understand!

Honestly I have never heard of those two disorders until now. Interesting! In relation to these two topics and the overal thread discussion, do you find yourself to be blessed or cursed with those two disorders? By that i mean, if it was hard to visualize the concept of god, that in a way you kinda dodged a bullet? Or do you envy those with faith?

I disagree with both points. Religion, that is- organized religion, was more a tool for the powerful to retain control of the proles. The cope came later. That being said, I still believe there is merit to the concept of religion. Let’s step back here. I apologize if my definition of love conjured up images of a Disney princess scrubbing floors till she got her glass slipper. True love does not mean easy, or destiny. I meant it’s being a higher class of bond between people that’s much harder to …

Could you explain more? If you don’t believe in god, I thinks it’d be hard to believe in the soul. If you believe in true love despite the soul, then true love must be biological, no? And if so, shouldn’t it be measurable? Or at the very least identifiable

I’ve learned (23) to accept two things: -you don’t owe anybody anything (except for specifics if you have them) -nobody owes you anything To me, it was a phase of resentment and anger, then peace, then excitement. The world is a sandbox. Figure out what things or ideas or even places are important to you, and why. Then go from there.

I’ll bite. I’m a 23 y/o with no sexual experience whatsoever. Feel like a loser most of the time, really. Not looking for sympathy though. I like this sub because it seems pretty grounded. People on here actually discuss interesting things, themes, patterns, and ideas regarding the SM. Chiding or toxic comments are more or less snuffed out by civil discussion and an actual willingness of others to debate. I think the people here (the ones who actually discuss and are even open to changing their …

Great comment. How exactly do you separate art from the artist? Aren’t the two one in the same? To me a great work of art made by a not so great person lessens the value of the work of art. I wonder, does hitlers art make it into museums oft? I don’t know myself and am interested to find out. I bet there are select places in the world where they are on display but if I had to guess I bet most who view it (I e consume it) have the voice in their head reminding them that this was something one of …

Maybe it’s just cause I’m super high but I really really don’t understand what you’re saying by the first paragraph. Yes, it’s important that we use the correct words in our daily use. No, it’s LEGALLY false to conflate “sexual misconduct” with “rape”. Yes, using correct language is one hundred percent politically correct. How does that logic not work? I’m going to read these comments in the morning, please explain what I don’t understand thanks mom

If words don’t mean the same thing to everyone then chaos ensues in such a community. I directed my comment towards you because yes I believe precision of language is in fact politically correct. If you can say a sentence without offending anyone but also specifying through context clues in the sentence idk that feels like some precision language use to me, Lou

If you’re loose with your words, people will be loose with their interpretations. I thoroughly agree with the me too movement. But, controversial or not, equality ISNT JUST about treating people equally... it’s about recognizing and overcoming the differences between themselves... including but not limited to crazies who misinterpret their experiences in dangerous ways.

I agree with you. I believe that people, at the very least... some... people will still think and see aziz as a great funny little Indian dude. Haha! Something witty about relationships and or how stupid something sounds! Typical aziz! It’s hard... all innuendo aside, it’s really fucking hard to get the images such an article describing events with aziz out of my head. I’m a straight male too. But the next time I see aziz, a “Siri set an alert for aziz” alert buzzes off in my head, recalling thi…

While you’re not wrong (and trust me I dislike that I did), it wasn’t on purpose as I genuinely believed due to both misinformation via word of mouth and a genuine acceptance of ignorance due to lack of really caring, that he was accused of a much more severe “sexual misconduct”. My bad. That PC enough for ya?

Whaaa??? It’s only if and when someone files charges for rape allegations that someone’s career, social and personal life will be affected? Dang, that’s really progressive. Here I was thinking that simple accusations are believed by society at large, but I guess they’re more open minded than expected!
