This is outlined as one of the habits in "the 7 habits of highly effective people" but OP you really gave it a present day example and verbiage to lock it in my head a bit better. Thanks for that!

Exactly. We could of all done things to simply put a point on the score board. We are selfish with the things we want, many don't want to get a point that way. It's the frame they stand by and maintain. To move points by breaking your values or own rules is to break frame. Now if you're doing it by not following social norms but living up to your standards or values then go for it. That's selfish but it's also living your best life for you. That's frame.

I do always feel my response is awkward when they ask if I'm there alone or why I'm out alone.

The Louie thing has been interesting the most to me though because he asked. The girls didn't act weird until they were telling their friends. I can truly believe that he brushed them off as rumors for all these years because let's say you do something sexual with someone and going into it they are cool, they say it's all good, let it continue and then whatever you all did is now over and they go home, it is a one time thing, you don't see them again. Then months later someone says, hey I heard …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
