I'd agree -- different standards. My wife was much less experienced than me when we started dating, but she she cared about my education level, career, income, if I got along with her family, five year plan, etc. which were all things I absolutely did not care about when inverted.

Yeah, this is something repeated often that I don't see fleshing out in reality. Most would consider me very "successful" (I retired in my 30s). When I was dating, her education and income were absolutely irrelevant to me.

I see this repeated a lot as one of the reasons men are having more difficulty in dating. The reasoning is that women used to depend on men to provide for them but now they have jobs and careers of their own, so a man being well employed is not much of a selling point these days on the dating market. Men now need much more than a good paying job to attract a decent woman. I think this is dramatically overcomplicating it. I think it has very little to do with "not needing a man", rather, the very…

I'm of a similar mindset in that, had I have been making less, my wife's income may have been relevant, but it just wasn't in the situation. She was making six figures when we met, and now she chooses to stay home. I wasn't going to exclude 99.99% of the pool in the hopes of finding a nice, attractive decamillionaire. I don't need more money, so someone with the qualities to be a great wife and mother were far more valuable.

Most people misidentify their failure, and it's not unique to any single demographic. Didn't get the job? Some -ism. Overweight? Genetics. Make minimum wage? Capitalism. Bad grades? Biased teacher. Your job became obsolete? Immigration. Etc. Etc. We have a tendency to externalize failure onto things outside of our control. It's more psychologically comfortable to think the world is unfair and the problem insurmountable rather than we haven't put in sufficient work to solve our personal deficienc…

Might be worth having him get some blood work done at the doctor. Glucose, thyroid panel, lipids, CBC, testosterone, free testosterone, estradiol, etc. My libido can be absolutely crushed in certain circumstances, as can many men.

Im one of those that had absolutely zero care about my wife's career. She can work if she wants, or not, it really makes no difference to me. While she's highly trained and made great money by most standards, like most people, she chose not to work because her income was immaterial to our household finances. It would have been more financially advantageous if she had no career because I inherited hundreds of thousands in student loan debt. What I did care about was I that wanted her to have her …

They experience the negative effects because they have a significantly higher bodyfat percentage at a given BMI, which is what I was getting at above. The average short person at a BMI of 24 is much different than a tall one. Ultimately bodyfat is what matters (also for attractiveness), but that's hard to measure in broad population groups. https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=BMI+height+asians&btnG=#d=gs_qabs&t=1662603697971&u=%23p%3D0nK_ha8HCFIJ

The data doesn't really support the theory. It shouldn't surprise people, but the data seems to indicate that married people are more conservative than single ones. http://www.inquiriesjournal.com/articles/127/the-effect-of-marriage-on-political-identification

Status is actually the most important thing BUT status does not mean having a 6 figure income, ferrari I happen to own one of those, and a variety of other exotics (I'm a gear head, and cars are about the only thing I splurge on, otherwise I'm a sweats and t-shirt kind of guy), and don't have an instagram. If you've ever wondered what it's like to experience being an attractive woman, drive down a busy street in an exotic. Some women become men, complete with catcalling and pulling up next to yo…

Not really, no. There are things that can certainly make things easier or more difficult, but it's a crutch for failure and a self-defeating mindset. For any given excuse, there's going to be an enormous number of examples of people objectively worse off that succeeded regardless.

My opinion is that these ideologies, whether it's red pill, black pill, feminism, etc. etc. start with a few factual arguments and extrapolate into toxic world views in order to justify personal failings.

If you're in love, you're constantly thinking of what that person is doing at that moment. I think that's a hard disagree from me. That sounds like the initial period of a teenager's relationship where there's a bit of an obsessive infatuation (and insecurity) with the other person. That naturally goes away the longer you've been in a relationship -- it doesn't mean you don't love the other person, but that certainly isn't a defining characteristic. In terms of porn itself, I don't have a strong…

I see it the same as Kim Kardashian, Olivia Wilde, Demi Moore, etc. Plenty of people desperately trying to hang on to their youth.

There's something interesting about BMI in that it doesn't really scale all that well with height. It overrepresents obesity in tall population groups and underrepresents it in short ones. I've read papers suggesting that the "overweight" threshold should be adjusted to 23 for Asian demographics for this reason. There's also probably an argument to be made to have different thresholds for men and women, as the cutoff of 25 will paint a rosier picture for women on average than is probably accurat…

Dated a doctor once that was a little crazy. I called it quits when she was trying to get me to fill narcotic prescriptions for her.

I think employers were more frustrated with the massive benefits being paid out. They were funding those benefits and then forced to compete against it in a largely impossible scenario for small businesses. There's really no reasonable or logical comparison here at all to dating.

I make many times more than that, and can confirm, I absolutely did not care what her salary was when I was dating. I went on dates with everything from preschool teachers to doctors. After marriage, she was likely going to quit her job anyhow unless it was something she did out of passion, so it's not like it mattered (which is ultimately what happened). I was looking for attractive, undamaged, fun, and a good, loving wife and mother. Higher income actually served more as a soft warning, as the…

I think it's telling that people would refer to her as "a bit chubby". She is overweight. That doesn't make her a bad person, but we shouldn't sugar coat it. As an aside, ancient paintings of obese women were not the standard of beauty at the time. That's a fairy tale made up to normalize obesity.

Maybe I’m too picky. Maybe I’m too short. Maybe I’m too fat. Maybe I’m too not-white. Who the hell knows. As a tall, very successful, fairly fit white guy that dated at 30, I'll tell you it's still predominately single mothers looking for someone to take care of their children. They're particularly assertive about it. I did end up finding what I was looking for, but it's a slog of damage and baggage.

I'll agree with this. I don't have a dog in this fight given that I'm married to someone my age, but back when I was dating, my age range was basically within about 7 years of my own, but not older (if I were in my 40s, it may be wider than that). Just as women have a preference for taller men with a decent job, grooming, and fitness levels, younger women are simply more attractive. Attributing anything more to it than that sounds like sour grapes.
