If nothing else, a confrontation averse person would have offered just to end it; or a woman would have offered her seat in solidarity. But as you say it’s not credible that nobody said, “sit here, shut up,” at a minimum.
I don’t defend her actions at all but they don’t warrant that brutal reaction. She tapped the side of a 2000lb vehicle with a woman’s foot. Out of proportion.
