It’s a bit of a grey area. In some states in the US, you can be charged for events that transpire as a direct result of a felony you’re committing. I.e., if you and a partner rob a bank and your partner is shot and killed by police, you can now be charged with manslaughter (or murder) for his death. I’m sure a similar thing could be extrapolated from this series of events, if her claims had constituted a felony, and obviously if this were in the US.
