As someone in Germany, it’s enlightening to see the disconnect between the media’s portrayal and what Hungary actually did. It’s simply called a “Anti-LGBT law” which nowadays could be anything. But you never see a detailed explanation of the law. I assume because then people would realize it has a reasonable goal. Mind you, Germany has significant state-run media sources: this is propaganda.

You see the same thing in how women customers treat attractive male bartenders. It’s just a part of the job - not all bars obviously, but definitely ones where drinks are served in pineapples.

My kid’s school is shut down for the foreseeable future (Germany). Her teacher - middle aged woman - does nothing other than once a week send a long list of homework and reading. She doesn’t even bother collecting it until the end of each term - ie, zero grading or feedback on top of zero teaching time. The point is that we choose plumbers based on competence. And competent plumbers tend to be men not because they force women out of plumbing or because people are biased against female plumbers. It's simply because most plumbers tend to be men in the first place. He's not trying to answer why there are more men plumbers. It's an example for illustration. He's showing why it's a logical fallacy to assume just because men tend to be prevalent in a group that necessarily means it happened by domination, patriarchy, or whatever. Should I say that there is a matriarchy because nurses tend to be overrepresented as women? Jordan is simply explaining why the knee jerk reaction to seeing men in power is mistaken. Competence was not at all relevant there. His point is just that you're likely to have a male plumber, but that doesn't mean it's because of male domination. And where is he "overpowering"? Is simply the act of talking supposed to be aggressive domination now?
