I do not think there is a universally correct way to reject people, largely because there will always be bad people who will lash out at rejection. Just remember if you were respectful with the decline, and they still act rude, that's on them. If you are in a suspect environment rules change, but in normal instances I think its good to be respectful but direct, as a guy anyways. Then again, I'm not every guy.

It's not. Being ugly is a whole other level of difficulty. If you're invisible by being average, but your personality is attractive, your looks are good enough to someone. Being ugly wont always make you good enough, at least far less.

I think a lot of people who claim they are ugly are under-estimating their looks OR see themselves being average as "ugly". Very few people are actually ugly. It's just that average-ish people are typically not noticeable when it comes to dating, or at all really. You're just invisible. [EDIT] Some people also have different standards. I know some people out there who see a lot of dudes as ugly, and others not so much. And these "ugly" men do get talked about behind their backs by some of these …
