So... You're saying that trying to burn his penis off isn't a terrible thing... I suppose this was an attempt to be humorous. Now she pays for that for the rest of her life. She should. Had the poor man lived, he would have paid worse; it's a good thing he died. remember that in her culture, women are burned alive every day simply because the husband no longer wants to be married to her. First of all, she's not living in some cave; she's in Australia. Secondly, culture is one of the poorest excu…

I know she did a terrible thing, but she didn't intend for him to die His penis would have been burned off! WTF is wrong with you?

Interestingly, I've read that a man can only file a suit against his circumciser within 3 years of becoming 18 years old.

young boy with a foreskin that doesn't retract Actually, phimosis and paraphimosis are generally caused by forced retraction of the foreskin. It is perfectly normal for a boy (even up into late adolescence) not to be able to retract his foreskin fully: The fused mucosa of the glans penis and the inner lining of the prepuce separates gradually over years, as a spontaneous biological process. Topical steroid [14-16] and nonsteroidal [17] anti-inflammatory ointments are known to accelerate the glan…

I found it offensive to discuss a serious and important issue using slang. I just don't understand this hang up you and BinaryShadow have. However, I'm glad to have come across it and I will definitely be sure to avoid unnecessary slang in my posts.

Couldn't she just use the term "penis" ? I don't see how slang was appropriate here. It makes people realize that it's personal. Penis is that thing you learn about in anatomy. Dick is what you use to fuck and enjoy your sex life. Your reaction alone confirms this.

Very recently, HIV/AIDS has replaced UTIs as the scare-tactic for promoting amputation of the foreskin. However, safe sexual practices are not only essential, but they are the only reliable and effective means for controlling and avoiding sexually transmitted diseases; even though the UN's recent (U.S.-led) studies suggest that circumcision reduces the incidence of HIV infection, the UN still acknowledges that only sex education and sexually responsible behavior (such as using condoms) are effec…

The greatest threat to proper parenting in our time is divorce, overwhelmingly initiated by the wife (70-75 percent of the time, according to Langley). I wonder if that's related to this. ;-) Of course, I should be careful. 70%-75% of men (worldwide, though) are not circumcised...

The most important factor is technique. So... my favourite is the Asian guy. Was the Asian guy's penis actually shorter? I recall having read that the shorter penis actually stimulates the G-spot more directly (in women that have an appreciable G-spot). However, I have really not read much on this subject, so I may be spewing FUD.

So sad and so true. The world is pretty fucked up, isn't it?
/r/MensRights22/12/08 10:22 PM

Yes I did realize, but I misinterpreted your last reference to orgasm. However, the foreskin does increase girth, which is the dimension that is most important for stimulating a woman (other than clitoral impact). EDIT: Also, the foreskin doesn't have a particular 'spot' per se, as it is extremely mobile along the shaft.
/r/MensRights22/12/08 09:20 PM

The area that produces orgasm is not really anywhere around where the foreskin would be and thusly wouldn't be directly responsible for orgasm. However, the reduction in irritation can help make it easier to orgasm. Orgasm is not synonymous with ejaculation. The intensity of the orgasm has a lot to do with the stimulation during the entire sex act.

In the context of reducing friction during sex, the simulated foreskin has potential of being an effective replacement. No doubt, but it's dangerous to let people think that the foreskin can be grown back, because it can't. More importantly, many men can't even attempt to grow extra tissue for lack of tissue to stretch.

What's even more sad is that the AAP already called for a end to medically unnecessary circumcision in the 1970s.

/r/MensRights22/12/08 07:16 AM

You're absolutely correct, but what can be done but apologize to current generations? Current generations should take heart in knowing that they can positively affect the future by refusing to propagate this needless amputation.
/r/MensRights22/12/08 07:08 AM

Incidentally, you can stretch the skin on your shaft so it grows and simulates foreskin. This is not a valid solution, because there are very specialized structures, muscles, veins, and nerves that can never be grown back. At most, foreskin restoration gives you some of the mechanical function back, though it's not nearly the same. Worse, many men (especially in the U.S.) are circumcised 'tight', so that they don't even have enough skin to contemplate stretching it out.

Sex has always been great for me My vision has always been great, except that I'm colorblind, and I had no idea that this is the case until I got to college and someone posted a joke similar to this one. It was then that I new and came to grips with the fact that there are colors and color combinations I will never be able to enjoy. I think good sex has more of a mental thing anyway so I'm a bit skeptical. I wish that colorblindness were more of a mental thing.

I think this decision should be left to the parents. How can medically unnecessary, cosmetic, elective, damaging surgery be a decision parents are allowed to make? Do you not see the irrationality of circumcision?

This is not really a funny issue. Neonatal circumcision is a slight against the human rights, dignity, respect, and personal liberty of our new generations of men. Bugcoder was trying to obfuscate this discussion.

And whether she did or not, is irrelevant. nails and hairs do not contain nerves; they are dead tissue. More importantly, they grow back fully.

Well, actually, you have no idea. Unless you perhaps got circumcised after having sex with a few women first? This is ridiculous. I am red-green colorblind, but do I not know that I'm missing something? The visual test isn't even necessary; you can tell whether somebody has too few or deficient cone cells by just looking at the DNA or by observing in an autopsy. This isn't a matter of personal belief. The body is a machine that we understand fairly well, and we understand that the foreskin is co…

Also, It was through the Frenum, type Prince Albert in google. The frenulum of the circumcised penis is either very underdeveloped or absent (though they avoid removing it these days).

Anyway, when I think about it, if I had become Jewish the need for a circumcision wouldn't be an issue. That's plainly a rationalization. After all that, now I have a piercing so I guess I can't hold it against my parent for messing up my junk. You're lucky you had enough skin to do that; so called 'tight' circumcisions are the norm in the U.S. and some men don't have nearly enough skin even to understand how someone might get a piercing (anywhere but the scrotum maybe).

I think always bringing up circumcision like this will undermine the goal, too . . . If people who already think the circumcision debate is absurd see it being brought up randomly, they'd just use it to confirm their belief on the matter. You make a good point, but I truly find it hard to see another way, as circumcised men want to believe they have the better deal and intact men don't give a shit. Perhaps I will leave the public domain on this subject, and seek to bring medical schools into mod…

Who would down vote this comment? One day your son will not just be "your child"---he will be an independent adult man. If you forcefully circumcise your son, then you are forcefully circumcising a random adult man. The foreskin has been scientifically, medically, and statistically shown to be composed of a number of specialized tissues and tens of thousands of specialized erogenous nerve endings. Medically unnecessary ("preventive") circumcision constitutes the amputation of healthy, functional…

What do you expect from a society that greedily mutilates its boys' penises? dunk71: When my son was born, in a Catholic hospital (because it was the best, closest hospital), they almost circumcised him without our consent. In fact, totally against our wishes. Three different nurses asked us, over the course of a few hours, if we wanted him circumcised, to which we politely said "no, thank you" and were met with looks of surprise bordering on shock. Then another nurse turned up and started fussi…

You might want to discuss this with sylvan though: "Additionally, many women report that the prolonged and harder thrusting circumcised men use in order to achieve orgasm..." Yes indeed, but you're misinterpreting. This only states that the circumcised man achieves orgasm with a bout of prolonged and hard thrusting, not that he can last longer in order to please his partner and himself better. Because the shaft glides within the foreskin, there is a level of indirection between the sexual stimul…

If you're circumcised or have circumcised boys, you shouldn't just support it blindly. Please open your mind and do some reading. There is a lot more to the foreskin than this comment provides. Circys last longer. I assume you mean that those, who are circumcised, don't suffer as much from premature ejaculation. This is simply not true. The foreskin provides not just more sensitivity to the brain, but enhanced sensitivity. With more information, the man has more control.

What's worse is that many women in the U.S. support mutilating boys by having their foreskins forcefully removed. You may have been circumcised and have no idea what was taken from you; you're not normal. Read about the foreskin and see this and read about the foreskin.

But you're already in the 'tell me what to do' club, because you support parents, who randomly choose a man and then circumcise him. This man is their adult child. You act like raising a child is the same as owning a chair. You know, you were a child once. What if your parents had decided to remove one of your testicles to reduce the risk of testicular cancer. You're comment suggests you'd be fine with that. Now extrapolate... Can you truly be serious, bustlinSlug? Surely you realize the degree …

In modern times, I think many American men want their boys circumcised simply because they think: (1) it's normal (2) it's healthier/cleaner We have plenty of statistics that show both are false; we just need to disabuse the public of these myths and rationalizations (coping mechanisms more likely).

It is irrational and detrimental to future generations to be so closed-minded, simply because you don't want to face the fact that you might be wrong. In my lengthy and tiring discussions of circumcision, I've come to find that people don't want to be on the losing team. Eventually, the sole reason for promoting circumcision boils down to "A lot of people that surround me do it" and "It's all I know". This is particularly frustrating when it comes from women. I suppose women don't want to upset …
