I went through one year of public university and dropped out. Couple thousand in debt. Moved cities, got an IT job off craigslist which is what I was going for anyway. Didn’t need to get certs or anything. Making good money for myself at a good company and only regret listening to my parents telling me “there’s no way you get a job without a degree”. I am getting offers for different positions every week. Do not take every word from boomer parents as truth.

I can afford short, well timed, vacations in the continental USA but no way could I afford a euro-trip or going abroad. If you see young people on exotic trips rest assured they're using daddies money. If they're older than good for them but they are not the average joe.

My advice for when this type of mood hits me is simple: "Just 1 more" One more lift, one more minute, one more lap. You trick your mind into thinking "oh cool one more then I'm done!" But then you just tell yourself again, "ONE MORE!" until you reach your actual limit. It sounds cheesy typing it but it does help me.

Definitely do not do squats or leg lifts again if they are still painful. Do upper body lifts instead. If you are new to lifting you need to let your body recovery, rest and drink LOTS of water.
