Either the women don’t want to live with any men, understandable; or the landlord don’t want to rent to any men, unfortunate.

Yes it does, if they weren't approved to be an ethical study, then it is at the very least "not-proven to be ethical" and should not have been performed. If this doctor of everything but medical science did not prove that he took all effort to control and minimise harm before conducting his experiment, then he flagrantly avoided any scientific rigor and review of his work by an objective ethical body (also limiting the validity and reliability of his singular case study). That would be unethical…

Not necessarily, as long as one strategy works (I.e. Makes money) then companies will use it. When it costs them more than it nets them, then they will switch. If feminism wants to succeed in changing the business world, they need to show their approach makes more money.

I was just thinking about this scenario, such a paranoid person could very easily convince themselves that the dad did kidnap the kids and perfectly brainwash the children and therefore s/he is the only person with the crazy insight to see and save these kids. Mental health education should be heightened to the public for warning signs of subtle delusions that may lead to a real kidnapping "for the children"

Role Reversal Dates sounds pretty cool, I wonder what were some reactions to those excercises. Furthermore, I think the date should have gone like two friends hanging out, paying double, making decisions, compromises etc. They really did overstate points and made it just looks like a date of assumptions, the woman believing the other would support her (current model), and the man assuming the woman would support herself (overexxagerated feminist model); but without communication of expectations,…

i agree. Even though most emails would probably get stuffed, who knows what a well worded one might do. rejects the idea that women can do no harm sounds a bit double negative. This offends me horribly what do they care about our feelings if they think they're protecting kids? I think pointing out multiple cases and psychological studies of DA by women, not to take the blame off men, but to protect children better, should be the approach. I'm applying for grad schools atm, but if anyone else tak…

oh hell naw, if you're a good brother (and I sense you are) i reccomend to get a real lawyer and a social worker/psychologist to help you out, for yours and your brother's sake. Look for objective professionals to advocate for your brother's mental competency as well as legal rights (in addition to finding loopholes to help your case). Though I don't know your professional background, I assume this will be emotionally taxing for the both of you and having professionals you can rely on will great…

If you think it's all over anyway, the only thing you have to loose is time and money. In which case, lawyer up, make sure there's patient confidentiality (that the therapist can't testify one way or another and that your wife can't use anything you say in therapy against you in divorce proceedings). And THEN dump all the shit you've been holding back. But first things first, give therapy a try, find the right therapist that works for your both. It could be a refreshing experience that brings th…

If you want to make the marriage work, be honest, if you think it up, talk about it. If you feel like you're being ganged up on (after more than one session), then say so, discuss that feeling, and if it's too much, ask for a different therapist. I saw a female therapist in college and it was too uncomfortable for me, a male therapist really helped, but that was solo therapy. Also, you might want to do solo therapy if you're still not comfy saying things in couples. Seriously, therapy is awesome…

You bring up another important point - mental illness in men gets ignored (lets not bother him) or stifled (stop being so depressed, grow some balls, etc.) and if untreated, eventually results in violent actions and jailtime. Women, on the other hand, being more social, get noticed when they're upset and usually leads to treatment. The fact that lower income areas don't get much in the way of mental health programs (treatment as well as education, which perpetuates the stereotypes) which creates…

I was wondering why this was posted in mensrights, but I see where you're coming from. I agree that the double standard needs to be fixed, but I also feel that a better handling of mental health issues needs to be addressed in our society, not just after the fact, but preemptively. The article mentions that she's had two very significant suicide attempts; that alone should have raised major red flags and gotten her help immediately. I know there's a stereotype for women to be "crazy" or overly e…

If you say so. Though i'd rather hear some cognitive research on when does the ability to give consent begin, when do the brain areas necessary to perform such a function develop enough. Are 12 yr olds not knowledgable of what they're getting themselves into, enough to give consent? Are they curious because they're left in the dark? Or if they are educated, are they to be punished for knowingly (and safely) exploring this area of life? According to a paper I read for a human development course, …

i see the double standard. But i don't see circumcision as genital mutilation relative to the types of extreme FGM used in Islamic countries. But its been around for so long, and it doesn't look all that bad or mutilated, that i'm comfortable with it. Calling it male genital mutilation (MGM (grand, lol)) would probably make it as appealing as replacing "veal" with "slaughtered baby cow." I was poking fun more at the "unconsenting child" bit. There are some vague rights given to children (freedom…

Also, noone asks the future child if s/he wants to be born. Seriously, we'd have a whole less of a population problem if enough (potential) people knew what they were getting themselfs into (crapworld)/out of (vaginas). That was more of a joking thought provoker. But I was thinking about intersex issues the other day and decided that I'd leave my child as born to decide its gender when its ready. But i think i would still have my boy circumcised, for religious reasons.

hrm, i like it, rather than differentiating ourself from women (seperate but equal?) it could be cool to combine them, make it a dual sex event. But then I wonder if this would be considered a male encroachment onto a women's event. I'll bring this concept up, but for now, i think a male only event is in order, like a progressive "man show"

thank you very much, i like what you're bringing up, especially the mental health part. As for the mother issues, i'm at odds with my mom but i find it hard to tell her (long story), this, i feel, affects how i interact with women in general, i wondered if other men feel have a hard time with their mothers (and not the Oedipal, hurr durr "hard time").

Thats fantastic, this reminds me of a program i heard about in a human development class. African American barbers were dispensing condoms and sexual health advice, as they were the more trusted members of their community. I believe they also referred young men to discussion gorups if they were more interested.
