When the divorce was done, what did you do ?Did everything I love to do. Rode my motorcycle out to a trail 3hrs out from the city. Hiked to a peak and read a book at the summit. Then hit up a local brewery before heading back. It was a perfect day. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/02/26 11:23 PM
Struggling with divorce, I want to kill myselfBro. It was incredibly difficult to go through. Especially during the holidays. I also got divorced at 35 after 15yrs together and 10 years of marriage. As much as it may seem your world is ending, please listen to a brother who’s been through it and made it to the point where I can honestly say life is better than it was before. Not because she is gone, but because I learned to love myself honestly and become a better man as a result. You have value and it doesn’t just come from the ones you lo… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/12/25 11:38 PM
The moment I realized my "Duty" meant nothing to the courtTwo years out from my divorce, thankfully, but that mental switch you mentioned of recognizing “she isn’t my wife” was critical in me moving on and getting through the divorce proceedings efficiently. Anyone going through it now, please take heed and recognize at this point, you have to look out for yourself and your own best interest. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/25 02:13 PM
Went to a rave last night fellasTruly happy you got to experience that. I had a similar experience going to my first rock concert. I’ve always been into rock/metal since I was a teen but had never been to. An actual live concert. Felt like going alone would suck and my ex wouldn’t even entertain the idea. I finally went and saw Godsmack and Staind. It was the most fun I’ve ever had at a live concert. Became bros with the guys sitting next to me for the evening and we enjoyed some beers together. One of my favorite memories now… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/25 07:16 AM
She’s texting her tinder friend right in front of my faceMakes sense. Especially with a child. I was fortunate to not have to navigate that aspect. No kids, thankfully. Sounds like you’ve approached this with a rational brain. Keep that up and do your best to maintain a level head. Try to have a cohort of men/trusted friends to confide in during this process. It is not easy and you will need to lean on them at times. Feel free to message if you need to talk too. It can be a lonely walk during the process. I pray you have strength and peace of mind. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/24 05:37 AM
She’s texting her tinder friend right in front of my faceOne more thing, you can mandate that she “buy you out” of the house if she isn’t going to sell. You don’t have to be stuck in it forever. Talk to a lawyer and make sure to mention that as a potential option if you want to go that route. She would either have to agree to it or a judge would have to enforce it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/24 05:07 AM
She’s texting her tinder friend right in front of my faceI was in this situation and had left the home too. It was nerve wracking because my ex refused to pay the mortgage while she still lived in it so I had to pay the mortgage and my rent for my apartment in order to keep my credit from going haywire. We ended up not selling the house until 3 months after the divorce and the realtor was a real ass about not keeping me in the loop on certain moves despite me being adamant I needed to know before any financial decisions were made to help sell. Honestl… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/24 05:02 AM
She’s texting her tinder friend right in front of my faceAre both your names on the mortgage or just yours? If both then, fine-ish. If it’s just yours name then you are responsible for that house despite you not being in it. That can be a major pain in the ass later down the line. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/24 04:45 AM
An unexpected benefit…Had a funny interaction with a friend of mine who visited my home after some time passed post-divorce. He said “oh so I see you were the clean one between ya’ll.” Took me by surprise because I was so sure and convinced by my ex that I was the messy one who didn’t know how to clean. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/11/24 05:49 AM
What’s the best place to spend a week worth of vacation during a divorce?I went to Norway for a 5 day stint and it was amazing. Visited Oslo, Flam, day trip to Bergen and finally Tromso. The fjords in Flam and the Northern Lights near Tromso were breathtaking. I went in February and the weather wasn’t bad at all. Heard it’s also beautiful in spring/summer, but that isn’t prime for Northern Lights and the country sees a sharp increase in tourists at that time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/08/24 09:50 PM
Struggling with STBXW’s glow-upGo hiking, bro. Doesn’t feel like a strenuous workout, but it burns calories like crazy. Just keep moving. Keep working on the therapy and feeling all the feels, but add daily movement to your routine. Even if it is walking a mile or two. It all adds up as long as you watch what you eat. Also, being outdoors and being connected to nature sure as hell helped my mood when getting thru the thick of it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 11:19 PM
Not sure when I'll quitAs much as I would have liked “one last time” I’m glad I didn’t. So if you haven’t gone through it, I’d caution you not to do it. This chapter is going to be difficult as fuck. I am not going to sugar-coat it. However, I am nearly 2yrs post-separation and nearly 1yr post-divorce and I will tell you that if you work on yourself mentally, spiritually, and physically, you’ll come out on the other end better than when you were married. Take your time to grieve and know that it will ebb and flow. If … | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/06/24 03:54 AM
Reach out if you need it fellas.I felt like shit today too. I saw so many posts of people with their families with these grand meals they’ve all prepared while I’m just sitting alone in silence. Mid-thirties and despite having been married 10 yrs before the divorce finalized, I have no kids which feels like a gift and a curse sometimes. I want kids, but damn glad I didn’t have to work through that in court. I took the motorcycle out and rode for a few hours. The weather was perfect and the scenery made me appreciate just havin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/04/24 05:40 AM
Do woman give back rings after filing for divorce?Putting this out there in case it can apply to you. For our 5th year anniversary, I upgraded her ring to a bigger diamond. (Yea, I know… this is dumb.) However, because it was purchased during marriage, it was a marital asset and was used as a bargaining chip in my favor when determining how assets would be split in our marriage settlement agreement. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/02/24 05:21 PM

Feeling like I’ve failedI’m sorry you’re going through this. However, maybe flip that thought of “failing your son” on it’s head and recognize this as a moment where you are demonstrating how important it is to set boundaries and not be treated like shit or staying around being miserable and unhappy. The road ahead may be difficult, but you’re setting a good example for him… not failing him. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/01/24 04:31 AM

Spent Memorial Day alone….I did almost the exact same. Thought it would wreck me because I was in the house where we always threw a big memorial day cookout with family and friends. Instead, got on the motorcycle, found a good spot by the water to smoke a cigar, grilled a few burgers, chilled with the dogs, and got some video game time in. Some moments I felt off, but overall, I enjoyed doing what the hell I wanted to do. In the process of divorce now, but that feeling of freedom and a fresh start to care for me is start… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/05/23 01:57 AM
Divorce will be finalized today, I feel sick to my stomachI’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m at the beginning stages of mine and yours story sounds similar to mine. It sucks and isn’t fair how much we sacrifice to care for them and then we get treated like shit. Another redditor posted this article a lil while ago and it shook me out of the fog that I was in hoping for a renewed marriage. Turns out I was the one putting in all the work all along and losing myself in the process. Get some help if you can. Therapy, friends, folks on this sub. Hell,… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/23 01:52 AM
