...without looking into what really happened. We shouldn't have to, but that's the news business for you these days. I along with many others usually give the thread starter the benefit of the doubt but apparently the headline fooled him too.

You'd think self preservation would enter into the minds of these people. I'm sure the girl's parents would love to get their hands in that former teacher.

Sorta. Remember the context for this is what was happening in 2016 when they took hits from releasing this and Pixels. These no doubt contributed to Sony being convinced to make a deal with Marvel to share Spider-Man.

It was unremarkable, which is a huge disrespect when you account for the legacy it's expected to live up to.

If that guy wanted to press charges he could, but we all know he won't. Guys are just more forgiving like that.

I typically give an attractive female stranger the benefit of the doubt when considering if I'd date her but once I know she's the sort to pull slime-ballery like lying about people to damage their lives, she becomes as attractive to me as a rotting roadkill on a summer day.

I'm in total agreement with your sentiment on the evil one would need to possess to do either of those things. I wouldn't want to end up courting someone like her at a bar.

It's a year in the slammer plus 3 more on probation. According to the article, the guys are "happy with the disposition." I'm not sure if that translates to happy with the sentencing, but personally it's more than I expect to hear in this sort of case given the precedents set by past false accuser punishments.

...that no one legitimately thinks is a problem? When I have to attend a mandatory ethics lecture at my job and the speaker mentions "Mansplaining" is a legitimate problem, then 'Yes' things like this have become a problem. The world's going crazy; humiliating the offenders is a good thing.
/r/MensRights01/02/18 11:21 PM

It's tangentially pertinent. When "manspreading" is considered a real problem in the minds of these lunatics and you see that notion begin to infect the mindset of others, it helps to offer some perspective.

by this logic "Men's Rights" would be actually doing something not bitching about feminism on the Internet. Unless you're talking about open violent warfare against TPTB and anyone who disagrees, all that can be done is to spread awareness and help men know how to not inadvertently put their heads in the nooses. For now the legal system, education system, Hollywood and even our biology are all compelling the populace to concentrate our efforts on women's problems be they real or imaginary.

Women have weaker bone structure, weaker neck muscles, and when even grown men can get brain damage from a skinny dude no man should be hitting women in the face/head unless they are facing serious injury. Quit your bullshit. She'll be fine.

In a world where we deal with the stifling of the presumption of innocence in criminal law, bias in family courts, and careers ended due to lies, I have to ask: Is this really a "Men's rights" issue?

Depends on intent. A lawyer could argue that the man was collecting evidence using video recording equipment.

Henry Cavil is an established star who's been in multiple big budget films. His character's name was in the title of the film. Gal Gadot doesn't have a comparable resume. She's also not nearly as good of an actor.

Good! She'll have a criminal record that will be investigated when she tries to get a job. If she ever tries that crap again, she'll likely be disbelieved.

Most of us know it's not all women, but let's be real here. The legal system isn't pandering to men when it's set up to allow this sort of thing to happen as a matter of procedure. That says it's not just a few women who are like that. The laws will change when a significant number of women clamor for it to change, or when the system totally breaks down.

While I'm pleased to see she didn't just get a slap on the wrist, in my opinion 22 years is way too harsh.

Sure it's petty, but why can women have something like this on one of their magazines and we cannot? They're in business to make money, which means they have to give the people who are paying them what they want. A misogynistic article title in a men's magazine is as likely to alienate the men who make up their customer base as it is any woman. It would also scare away advertisers. It's not the magazine's fault; it's a reflection of the society in which we live.

What he said sounds like a great public service. The stories on the internet don't find you; you have to sift around and find them yourself. I don't expect most young guys to know to look for stories like this. While the marriage rates are down, I think they are still too high given the risks it represents to men these days.

Very good. There's a higher probability of a true representation of feminism coming from an MRA video than there is from a feminist video.
