The testosterone used for steroids and the testosterone used for TRT are not different. All that's different is where you get them (and the amount you take). There are many other hormones that are steroids, though; It's not just testosterone. They're mostly all slight variations on the testosterone molecule or its metabolites, as they all act upon the testosterone receptor. They're also always used alongside testosterone. Trenbolone and Nandrolone are two of the more popular ones.

You are not correct. Steroids are synthetic hormones, usually testosterone. People literally inject themselves with testosterone in order to boost their levels. Upon receiving testosterone from an exogenous source, your natural production will turn off.

All they're really doing is kicking testosterone production up. The opposite. They shut natural testosterone production down for as long as you're on them + a few weeks.
