I read his book 48 Laws, and I found it interesting as study of different methods people have used over the ages to manipulate people and achieve power, but it wasn't useful in any sort of way as a guidebook. I assume Art of Seduction is more of the same. If you actually want to learn useful tools for seducing women in your life, I'm sure there are much better books out there. Greene's books are fun to read for interest and enjoyment, not practical knowledge.

Yup, this goes all the way the French Revolution and the origins of left vs. right politics. The early conservatives wanted laws that preserve the family unit, and the leftists wanted more individual rights. My own personal experience tells me otherwise. It's a nasty habit, and I've since quit, but I have to say that it was definitely a great social lubricant. Tom Cruise's character in Magnolia was cringe worthy. His whole role in the movie seemed to revolve around this idea of how fucked up the self improvement scene is under the surface, and they were clearly trying to paint it in a negative light, like "look at all of these sad pathetic men and what they have to go through to validate themselves". Great film, but not recommended as PUA material. Not at all.
