I've done this before as well, and this issue definitely exists, but I think there are a few other reasons for this. I think it's a pretty common thing for men not really knowing how to market themselves very well visually. Someone earlier mentioned we don't decorate ourselves, and that's obviously the case, but that also means that a lot of men haven't learned about how to MAKE themselves look good, And I don't just mean makeup. It might just be not knowing how to take a good picture; I'm defin…

That's a really good way to put it! I think maybe part of the issue in trying to explain what we look for is a difference in thought process. Rather than checking off boxes in my head, it's something more along the lines of subconsciously watching behavior in different situations and and learning how she thinks. So I'm not assigning anyone specific traits, but still figuring out if we'd be compatible.

To have someone to share my life with. I may or may not be in the minority here, but I definitely take a potential partner's personality into account when deciding whether or not I'd be with them. Why would I want to be with them if they're vapid, or inconsiderate, or insincere, or just a bitch? Career wise, I would certainly take it into account, but only so long as they're happy with doing what they do, or are using it as a stepping stone to what they really want to do. I'd certainly want a pa…

Spider people. If they're keeping something that should be squished on sight, you know something's up!

Automatically equating owning a cat to being a total shut in is a pretty massive leap in judgment. I personally know waaaaay more people who are obsessed with their dog than those who are obsessed with their cat. I mean, I own a cat, but just because he doesn't need to go outside to do his business or take a walk doesn't mean I don't go outside. I grew up having cats, and I prefer them because they're quiet, less messy, and affectionate in a way that's (sometimes) less obnoxious than dogs. That …

It's unfortunate that not everybody has that ability, and I appreciate you saying so! Civil discourse is a much needed commodity until scientists figure out how to turn humanity into a hivemind lol. I might feel a certain way about your thoughts on this thread, but I'd never die on this hill because your life experiences led you to those conclusions and are as equally valid as mine. Easy peasy lemon squeezy lol. My cat is sitting right next to me, and he's very appreciative of you noticing him!

I strongly disagree with this sentiment; I think it's incredibly reductive pertaining to both men and women. For some (particularly younger and more immature) men, sure, all they want is sex and they might have that thought about "sex being meaningful." But just being a male doesn't detach sex and romantic feelings. I've had a few amazing hook-ups that I hated myself for afterward because it was purely for physical gratification. I've also had the most vanilla sex with partners I loved that was …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
