I don't know enough about Star Trek to provide insight for that analogy. But with Jenny, it's specifically the word choice of "villain" that I think is the point of contention. To clarify, I would agree or understand if someone said that Jenny is mean, unfair, inconsiderate, or stubborn, but I would not use the word evil to describe Jenny. The word villain feels entirely too strong to describe Jenny's role in the story, in my opinion.

Thanks, this sub is important to me because I believe the perception and the attitudes regarding men needs to be improved in various ways and often it isn't taken seriously. At the same time, an amount of self reflection and awareness must be maintained to avoid letting your convictions and beliefs overrun you. Beliefs should constantly be questioned in order to ensure they aren't kept simply because that's how it's always been.

I think they're referring to her role from a storytelling perspective, not necessarily offering an opinion on right or wrong. A better way to say is that Jenny is not the antagonist of the film. What makes Forrest Gump so interesting is there is no central antagonist or even a primary conflict. Forrest faces a number of difficult situations but there is no ultimate goal he aims to achieve or obtain. The idea that Jenny is the antagonist makes a little sense due to the fact that their relationshi…

But the women are there. Maybe OP doesn’t want to use the restroom around women. Maybe that makes him uncomfortable. Or maybe it doesn’t make OP uncomfortable, but maybe there are other men who were at the concert who were uncomfortable. And maybe they’re shy about voicing this because of people who are just dismissive. This is what people mean when they say women don’t understand or acknowledge men’s issues.

Can’t drive in the opposing lane just because it’s clear and you don’t want to wait bruh

Precisely. I’m also curious if any of these women were upset about seeing men in the men’s room during this time lol.

I really want to drive in the opposing lane because it’s taking too long in the forward lanes. But that would be a pretty uncourteous thing to do.

Doesn’t matter. Men deserve privacy just as much as they do.

That’s good. I’ve been getting to that point as well and it’s very fulfilling. Rejecting the expectations others put on you unfairly and living as you want is the best way to be.

They’re not random. They specifically educated to provide assistance and relief to inner emotional turmoil. But you’re right, they are strangers. That’s one of the more crucial aspects actually. It’s important they maintain an outside perspective so they can give you more constructive feedback. Maybe they care, and maybe they don’t. It’s not about what they think. It’s about whether or not they can help you make sense of your struggles. Like you said, they’re strangers. They’re not your friends.…

I understand what you’re saying and if it works for you, I suppose it’s harmless. But I think loser is a pretty self-defeating term, and something more affirming might be more constructive. I am enough, or I am content. That’s what’s works for me, but to each their own. I’m glad you’ve found something that helps bring you a bit of comfort.

I’d like to say that I’m flattered that you made a new account specifically to reply to my comment. It’s not really shoved down anyone’s throats though. If people who disagree with the opinions of this subreddit are frequenting this subreddit, that’s entirely on them. This post isn’t encouraging users to bombard the women-centric subreddits with all the good things about men. It’s suggesting that the users in this subreddit share stories of men who have served as an inspiration to them in their …

You do raise a good point. Celebration of men shouldn’t exist as a response or comparison to the celebration of women. But I think it’s fully possible to celebrate men without any connection to the celebration of women, especially if it’s related to international men’s day. Having pride in your gender doesn’t have to mean you believe you’re better or superior. It just means you’re confident and proud of that part of your identity.

It all depends on the vehicle they use to communicate. Commercials are pretty shit for it tbh because they don’t really have the time to examine the details as much as they should. If you’re going to write an online article or deliver a public address of some sort, maybe it would make sense to address the issues separately but the problem with that is people would only pay attention to the bit that supports what they already believe. Like someone else said, violence against women and girls is a …

It’s not that this message in itself is bad, but it seems dismissive of a lot of aspects of abuse and harassment. Those are complicated things that exist in many different forms in many different relationships/encounters. A man can abuse a female partner, a woman can harass/coerce a male coworker. It isn’t always specifically from a man to a woman. To present things like this to world indicates to people that men are always aggressors in some capacity and women are always victims in some capacit…

The truth of this case is significant. But it’s not relevant to the first part of what she says. Yes, if you are going to accuse another person of committing a crime against you, you must produce evidence if you want the legal system to enact some form of punishment. That’s how it works. Innocent until proven guilty. The inverse would be an invalid approach to the pursuit of justice. If what she says is true, then I do hope the justice system treats her fairly and sentences the man for what she …

So, his body, but her choice? I mean, I know most people in this sub will share the opinion that this is absolutely appalling but it’s wild (and alarming) to me how anyone truly believes this is morally right when it doesn’t hold to the slightest scrutiny AND it contradicts one of the cornerstones of their sacred cause, feminism: bodily autonomy.

For one, I imagine it’s a pretty disorienting experience so OP might have been unable to think clearly. But even beyond that, it’s not his fault this happened to him, just as it’s not a woman’s fault if she is SA’d. Maybe, OP could have done this but then how does he know she won’t retaliate and attack him? Or accuse him of trying to rape her and hitting her?

There’s no situation I can think of where cheating is a better course of action than either 1) ending the relationship, or b) discussing with your partner why you’re unsatisfied and feeling tempted to be disloyal. If someone cheats specifically to hurt their partner, they’re acting out of malice and that’s indefensible. I would just tell them cheating is always wrong bc there’s no reason to do that when you can just be honest with your partner and solve the problem and end things there.
