I have dated before and been physical but that was all with women that I had known for a long enough time already before going on a date. You seem desperate to have all the boxes checked for a "successful" life and the one left is a woman. Hence you might be coming off as desperate and get rejected. Instead of seeing it as a goal, try seeing it as feeling a connection with another person, be curious about the girl and have fun with flirting without having any expectation about the outcome. I.e Make flirting the goal instead of getting laid or finding a loving relationship.
