It’s always, “gotta be a role model for young girls, girls need to see themselves in my character, I need to show girls that they can do anything, girls are just as good as boys blah blah blah” haven’t we been hearing this for like 40 years now? How many freaking role models does a little girl need, and how many times does she need to see/hear it? Feels like we should be past this kind of crap by now.

People who are confident and secure don’t need reinforcement of their confidence and security. This is why we don’t see “boys run the world” or whatever. We already know what reality shows us, we don’t need constant messaging trying to convince us otherwise.

Of course the show has now come under fire for not having any female writers on staff, because the show creators have the unmitigated gall to select scripts based on outdated concepts like "quality" and "humor" rather than writers having vaginas. (On mobile where it's difficult to link, but Google 'Mary Sue Rick Morty for some quality blue pill and Womyns Studies 101 analysis, if you want a chuckle or two.)
