The only reason I get upset about comments like that is not all women are the same. I think this woman is a crazy bitch and yet frequently I'm being tarred with the same brush.. This subreddit is getting less about mens rights and more about hating women by the day!

Yes.. The most common risk factor for Down syndrome is maternal age. As a woman gets older, her risk to have a pregnancy with a chromosome abnormality increases. Before 30 your risk is 1 in 1000 or lower at 35 your risk is 1 in 385.. This woman was 42 risk is 1 in 64.. Those are some BAD odds.

But seriously. This is a valid question if you don't understand the US system. In the UK you will only lose ALL visitation rights for things like being a druggy or if you abused the child.. even then you can often get supervised visits through social sevices. If the mother ignores your visitation rights that's a different ball game, you generally have the rights but can't enforce them. I understand that's not how it works in the US but others may be confused.

Bonding with a child is all down to the chemical make-up of the brain so strength of bond would vary by person (look at people who kill their own kids in a 'depressive episode' etc) I am, probably mistakenly, under the impression that women have a stronger bond in terms actual brain chemistry.

I would feel the exact same way if it had been the mother.. in fact I'd possibly judge her more because 'maternal bond' and all that. The rest of society is another thing but I personally would be equally pissed if a woman had done it.

Ok so the guy signed for a court summons.. Decided to ignore it.. Ignored several other letters (by which point it should be clear to him there is a problem) and then what? The court should just go 'oh we must have the wrong guy!' as if they're psychic. The letter told him exactly what to do and more than likely what would happen if he didn't contest the paternity.. In at least one letter it told him in plain English how to fix this.. He ignored it. All he had to do was tell them and ask for a paternity test at the start. He waited until paternity had been establish 'by default' as it were, it's too late to fix it then. YES that whole 'by default' thing is bull but how else do you deal with it? They could go and arrest him and drag him to court to prove if he's the father but how is that any better? They clearly can't keep sending letters hoping for a respo…

Never said it was a crime (although I think in some places ignoring a court summons is in fact a crime) and he should at least be getting his money back. My point was he's a tool for ignoring it and hoping it goes away! He put himself in that position in the first place by ignoring the letters sent to him. Clearly the system screwed up but he didn't even try to correct their error until it was too late!

It was addressed to Andre Sharpe, the guy is Walter Andre Sharpe. It could easily be claimed it WAS addressed to him. The fact they continued to send him letters should've prompted some sort of action. If I got a court summons with a name almost the same as mine I'd crap myself, I wouldn't ignore it!

No.. Just no.. I don't care that he left her in there, I can almost ignore him leaving his kids in there.. He DROVE away from the scene! Who does that? He drove away not knowing where his kids and girlfriend were. The poor parenting shown by both of them in choosing to take the kids in the first place is incredible! Surely the first instinct of a good parent is to protect your child?

Lots of people missed that it was the manager. Small, but I believe it's a relevant point that she was the manager. As I said, of all the staff, she should know better. Makes it seem worse that she's in a position of authority.

Like I said I know the issue being raised here is the double standard, it was more of a personal curiosity. I know a lot of women who would never ever let their boyfriend/ husband get something out of their bag but will quite happily let a total stranger go through it so long as it's a woman. I will never understand why circumcision is such a popular thing to do. It's not really a thing in the UK (other than for religion it's like <10% of males). As far as I'm concerned, if there's no valid medical reason for it, it's mutilation..

My partner is a cook and his dad gives him nothing but shit for doing a 'girls job'. I was told at school that I couldn't play football or basketball because the girls HAD to do netball and hockey. My brother and I both did gymnastics, football and judo as kids. We had the same toys (dolls, paint, lego etc) because my parents tried to raise us as gender-neutral as possible.
