Is it going to be a weight off my shoulders when this is all over? When the legal process was done, yes a huge weight. No more negation or waiting on a letter to see what new BS was coming my way to deal with. The emotional piece is more complicated. It dismisses with time but can flare up from time to time | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/11/23 12:39 PM
Men that cheated before they left, what’s happened to the woman now?Everyone in your orbit seem to suck | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/08/23 04:39 PM
She’s retaining a new lawyer, why?Mine did the same shit. Lawyers filled her head with entitlement and created drama for the sake of billable hours. Turns out she was not entitled to child support for our situation, then suddenly a new guy was retained and he is sending threatening letters about financial disclosures she already had and were looked at in mediation. Dude was dumber than the first. When the answer was still no, they somehow thought I’d pay more in alimony. I will take the kids full time if you’re so worried about … | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/06/23 02:01 PM
Random divorce paperwork question (pro-se), as I am sure you guys went through this.My advice is to provide what they ask for and see what calculations come up. It’s possible they may not be set stone. Example…I pay kids benefits, they go to my school district. Those impacted the numbers in my favor. That certainly wasn’t determined in the early stages | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/06/23 06:09 PM
Random divorce paperwork question (pro-se), as I am sure you guys went through this.In my state….there was an alimony and child support calculation. Income and benefits paid for the kids is all I recall mattering. I filled out day to day explenses but don’t think it matters. It wasn’t like they were going to lower anyone based on until it’s bills. Most was like based on the difference in incomes | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/06/23 05:40 PM
Random divorce paperwork question (pro-se), as I am sure you guys went through this.At the end of the day, all they cared about was income to put into the support form calculators. Day to day bills didn’t mean shit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/06/23 05:20 PM
Making the dreams stopFocus on building a new life and time. THB, over a year out, this still happens to me. But I have a whole new circle of friends and have gotten into what I see as a more healthy relationship (with caution) I hate that my subconscious brings it up and it leads to rumination. But it’s worlds better now with the time that has passed. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/23 01:35 PM
Sleep ProblemsI’m over a year out and my sleep isn’t perfect. First six months I was routinely up at 3 and ruminated with anger. I tired melatonin and sleeping pills with some success. Sleep meditation and breathing exercises helped. Ruminating and anger are largely gone but still pops in to say hello every once in a while. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/06/23 11:49 AM
Divorced men in your 40s, have you had any success OLD?I’ve been in a new relationship for over six months and met her on Tinder. Can’t speak to long term but I am comfortable in the relationship. When I was looking, I narrowed my focus to women whom were also divorced around the same age. IMO, everyone has baggage. I still experience waves of grief over a year later. It’s not as strong, but it’s there. Don’t let it stop you from trying to connect with someone. If you scare someone off or they randomly unmatch you, so be it. I would say it was a num… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/04/23 01:44 PM
Why would they be dragging the process out?My ex’s original lawyer did nothing but stir up drama after mediation. Went from mostly amicable to me being the template for shit husband trying to screw her over. She bought into this for a while. My favorite quote ‘I’m not going to let you wear me down, I trust my lawyer 100%’. Wouldn’t so much as talk about a kids doctor appointment without saying ‘my attorney’ in every sentence. Then she realized it was all for billable hours. Then she got another lawyer whom loved asking for $ she wasn’t e… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/03/23 10:43 AM
Will mediation sort it?Mediation sorted out assets and some other broad framework for me. Plus it didn’t get too into it with parent schedules and other things. Once that contract draft was written, the other side did everything In their power to change shit. Was it worth it? Probably because In the end most went in my favor. But in then end I think our mediator was a clown | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/23 03:17 PM
high deductible health planI have this same question, but I believe she will owe me the kids portion of the out of pocket spend. I’ve asked my lawyer and just not going to say it out loud until the contract is signed | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/01/23 11:51 AM
I went on my date yesterday, it was awesomeI’m on the verge of telling the kids about my girlfriend. Spoke to my therapist about it and the plan is to prepare a speech about it and tell them. A meeting would be at a later time after they absorb it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/11/22 09:40 AM
