Oopsie: I got upset with my boyfriend for getting me carnations for Valentine’s Day, even though he went out of his way to make dinner reservations at a really nice restaurant.

I think it's true that men aren't turned ON by women solely because of her career or degrees. That being said, I don't think it's a turn OFF if the women still allows the man to act like the man in the relationship. Women who are more accomplished should take care not to emasculate their husbands and let the guy shine. I technically have more education then my partner, but he earns more. That makes things easier. I also make sure that the persona I have in my professional career is separate than…

You're right. It is an issue of mine and I need to work on it. It's definitely not worth hurting the man I love. I just hope I haven't done too much damage already.

Thank you for the analogy. You are absolutely right. I was reaching the illogical conclusion that because he doesn't share the same enthusiasm towards weddings he doesn't love me and it's because I'm unlovable or less lovable than others.

Thank you. I'm so worried that because he cried that this will change things. I said sorry and after I left he followed up with me to make sure we are ok and to tell me he loves me. I told him the same and that I appreciate him, but I just can't believe I made him cry :(

This is a fair point and one I did not think about. I do think I should back off. There are times when he does bring it up unprompted and when I bring it up it's less meaningful. I want him to take the lead and not feel pressured into something,

He comes from a place where common law marriage is recognized and for cultural regions there was a large movement away from marriage at the time his parents first got together.

I can just see women in my family who are competitive commenting on how I had a smaller wedding than them and insinuating that it means something.

I agree with you. I am being unreasonable and materialistic. I love him and he doesn't have to share my exact views. I 'm not sure what I can do or say to make up for being immature and for making him cry.

Yes. I think down the line that would be a good compromise. But thinking about it this morning is what made me upset. I always envisioned having a large wedding. I understand that probably sounds selfish and immature. His parents are still together. That's part of the reason why he feels so strongly about marriage not being necessary for two people who love each other to stay together, have a family, and be happy.

He definitely will marry me. I believe him when he says that. However, he doesn't believe it's necessary. I love him and i'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable in wanting his views to be the same as mine.

Definitely the man. I wouldn't want to leave a man I love very much who loves me just because I want a marriage on my terms. Who knows if I'd ever find that.

I'm curious to know the statistics. All the women in my immediate family are career-oriented and have had success in relationships. Among these women are a doctor, a lawyer, and an engineer. It also seems like there are certain types of successful men who pursue highly educated women who have attended certain schools and/or have their own professional accomplishments. A few famous examples are Mark Zuckerberg and his wife (a doctor), Barack Obama and his wife (a lawyer), Bill Gates and his wife …

Depends. If the older man is emotionally and physically healthy and has his life together then it may be a good option. However, there are some questions a young and inexperienced woman should seriously consider: Why is/was this older guy still single? Is he a perpetual bachelor? Does he simply want a younger, "model"? (If so, will he leave you when you hit the "wall"?) Does he have serious baggage? Is he controlling? Is he in good health? (both sexual health and in general) If divorced, does he…

I would never be sexually intimate with a man without exclusivity. When I date a man, I do not talk about other women or ask how many people he is seeing. I only focus on getting to know him and developing our relationship. However, if he asks to be intimate, I tell him that I am only comfortable being intimate if I am in an exclusive relationship. I think it's really important to be explicit when it comes to sex. This weeds out the players from the men who want a LTR. I am also a very sensitive…

I am fit, long hair, good taste in clothes and decent with make-up. However, after reading posts on here, I think the fact I am 28 means I have lower SMV automatically.

Definitely, the pressure to be submissive but I sometimes confuse this with attraction. Sometimes, it seems like the men are drawn to the confidence. I do think there is such a thing as quiet confidence, though. That is tye type of confidence, I as a woman feel is more attractive. I would prefer the latter.

I do believe that men in general are not turned on by contrarian, argumentative, prideful women. Which is all too common these days among women who proclaim themselves smart. I really want this to be true. However, I am in a family that is completely dominated by two, extremely prideful women. The first, is the matriarch. Although, she has multiple degrees, her spouse is a Harvard graduate and is very accomplished. Nevertheless, she has completely emasculated him and he supports or even encourag…

Many celebrities require those around them to sign NDA's. If my bf was a celebrity I would likely agree to sign an NDA. As far as a contract similar to Cena's, I would likely negotiate with him a bit on some matters. I believe the clause about not providing tours of the house is reasonable. The other things, not so much. I would particularly be interested in what damages would be in the result of a breach of contract.

I feel like living with someone before marriage is common practice now, and nothing to be "shunned" over. Thanks for sharing your positive experience, Valerie. I agree that this seems like common practice these days. I'm trying to figure out how I could get my family to see this. For them, it's still taboo. This could pose a problem if I ever want to move in with someone.

Yes. There are some women that do look better due to good genes, increased confidence, and a better understanding of what clothes flatter them. If you have good genes and take care of yourself, it’s not uncommon to be mistaken for being younger.

He has one coworker, his business partner- a woman. I think the key fact here is that the woman in question is your SO's colleague from work. In your SO's, case the fact that he only has one co-worker means that it's necessary for the two of them to interact with each other frequently and to develop a friendly relationship. Friendly work relationships sometimes involve discussing personal matters. It's natural to feel jealous, but I think ultimately you need to trust him unless and until he give…

Quick point of clarification: When I was using the word "you" I was referring to the original poster. I agree with your statement that I quoted at the beginning of my post. In terms of grey hair and wrinkles: I'm 28 and I definitely know a few people who have found a grey hair or two and/or are starting to get wrinkles or more developed lines. However, this isn't the case for many women and I think it's a mistake to generalize. It's certainly not the case in my family, but we have melanin to tha…

If you’re going for the most attractive men on those, unless you’re stunning yourself, you will constantly be relegated to a plate by using Tinder or Bumble. This is a really good point. The super attractive guys on there tend to be players. If you are looking for a quality guy, I would recommend being more open to a less attractive guy who may share the same values as yourself.

Yes. A lot of people I know are in relationships that resulted from dating apps. Please keep in mind, most of these people attended law school with me and are in the legal profession. I also know several medical students or those in their residency who use the app. All of us work really hard and either had limited time to socialize or were looking to date people outside of our professional and social and professional circles. It's all about how you use the app and setting expectations at the ver…

This is not really true, especially for women who are UMC and can afford to look good as they age. I agree with this. In terms of looks, not all women hit their physical peak in their early twenties. Some look better in their late twenties/early thirties. Not all women get grey hair and/or wrinkles at this age. In addition to this, some women are likely more emotionally mature, financially stable, and have furthered their education or careers in their late twenties/early thirties. The women you …

When you say, “open to a sexual relationship” are you referring to love or lust? Alternatively, would you argue that, for men, love and lust are the same thing?

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Honestly, this made me reflect and realize that she has put forth an effort and unless the vacation invite thing was bad (the common consensus is that it wasn’t) I just need to deal with my personal insecurities because my bf hasn’t done anything wrong either.

She’s attractive but so am I. Shes more of a Tom boy and I’m more of a girly girl. She’s 1-2 years older than me. Shes taken. She’s very outgoing and I’m really shy.

I think you just touched on an important point. She definitely has a stronger personality and that is what I find threatening. I’m more of the quiet, shy type. I’ve always been insecure for reasons stemming back to childhood. My bf is really great and he always makes me a priority. This is just a personal issue I have to work through. Hopefully in the right way!

I don't know. I'm not normal. I tend to be oversensitive. I'm honestly just doubting I should even be in a relationship if stuff like this bothers me.

Less than 6 months and the trip thing happened 2 months ago. The actual trip isn't until late fall. I'm fine with taking things slow but I was really caught off guard when she said she had been invited and turned him down in front of me and I didn't realize he had invited anyone. Even if he invites me now I feel like the last pick or something.

I feel like he's made a point to invite me to outings with her lately so that we can get along. I don't know if they hang out one on one outside of that or if ever really. And honestly, I don't want to know. If I ever learned of anything slightly questionable I'd probably just bounce immediately rather than have a conversation about it. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. He definitely has done a ton of really sweet things that show me he cares and puts me first, but I'm feeling really insecure.

No. Not really. I would never demand anything of him. A more normal response for me would be to be to just withdraw or break up. I feel uncomfortable and I have a feeling most people would not feel uncomfortable in this situation. It makes me doubt if I'm ready to be in a relationship at all.

Oops. Sorry. I think my reply was a little unclear. I meant to say that when he asked "For What?" I responded by telling him "For dinner/drinks." Then his response was to explain why he picked up the tab. He explained it wasn't for chivalrous purposes but for the practical reason that he knows he makes more than me.
/r/RedPillWomen14/03/18 12:37 AM

I explained it to him. Then he explained to me that he frequently picks up the tab because he knows he makes more than me. It's not about chivalry. In his mind it's only fair that he picks up the tab more. I see the logic in this, but I have mixed feelings about his response.

Thanks so much for posting this. I do have a question about thanking your man. So, my guy is really generous when it comes to picking up the tab. I always say thank you, but he always responds with something like, "For what?". Should I just keep thanking him or tone down the thank yous? My fear is that I'll become complacent or he'll think I don't appreciate him and I really want to show him I'm grateful.

This. I second the nun mode suggestion. I struggled with low feelings of self worth and self sabotage for awhile. Mainly because of my family. I was either a shell and couldn’t interact with people without my guard up or I attracted people who took advantage of my vulnerability. I took a break to focus on myself and now I’m in a much better place and am in a happy relationship with a great guy. I still struggle with self worth but to a much lesser extent and I don’t allow it to dictate my relati…

Hi OP. I think a genuine apology and then giving him the space he needs is best. In terms of the behavior you mentioned, maybe try to uncover the underlying cause behind the behavior. I am a huge fan of therapy. Are there other things in your life that you’re taking out on him? Is it a matter of miscommunication? Are you sabotaging your ability to be in a happy/healthy relationship. I think self reflection is key.

Thank you. I definitely see the sense in this. I definitely will hold off for now, but if and when we get more serious I definitely would like to confide in him. I’m just scared that he won’t view me in the same way and will see me as tarnished or question what I did to deserve the treatment I received.

Thank you! I know you’re right. It’s so frightening though. In the past I definitely confided in the wrong people and they used my past to hurt me. I think I’m older and wiser now though and I definitely don’t think this individual would ever do that.
