Did you read the same thing I posted?? The cop was trying to push me to not press charges after I explained what the guy had done out of concern for what may happen to HIM if I were to pursue this. It took over 7 years from them to run my rape kit. Whether there were matches at the time I was assaulted ill never know. He was certainly not trying to to be supportive in me pressing charges. I actually found out from another source the guy was close to retiring and didn't even want the case. When I reported my rape to police I was asked repeatedly if I was sure I wanted to pursue charges and was told that I would ruin this man's life as he would be facing 20 years. This was after I gave my detailed account of what he did to me. to be clear the detective was trying to get me not to press charges by siting his concern for the guy... not giving me the option to ruin his life.
